Restoring a DomU HVM-Domain is "slow" (Bandwidth 23MB/sec from a ramdisk, xen3.2.1)
Hi, i do some tests with restoring HVM winxp-domU''s. Even, if i restore a saved DomU from a ramdisk, the Restoring-process has only a bandwidth about 23MB/sec: Here a example restoring an 512MB HVM opensuse10.3 DomU ...... Binary Packages SuSE9.0 != SLES9
Hi I need to install a current version of samba on a server running SuSE9.0 :-/ My Idea was to use the binary package provided at samba.org for SLES9 but I do not have the exact libraries that are needed: libtalloc.so.1 is needed by samba-3.2.8-2.1.140 libtdb.so.1 is needed by samba-3.2.8-2.1.140 libwbclient.so.0 is needed by samba-3.2.8-2.1.140 -> these are also

GPLPV, RDP and network latency
Hello! Has anybody experienced network latency problems with combination of Windows 7, GPLPV drivers and RDP connection? Any Windows pop-up message(such as "command not found" error message in "Run command:" dialog, or dividing by zero in windows calc) causes a short freeze of RDP session and looks like that from dom0: PING 192.168.44.65 (192.168.44.65) 56(84) bytes of data.

off-topic question about RDP to Win-10
I have a win10 VM in virtualbox on my Linux (C7) desktop. I CAN connect to it with rdesktop 1.8.3 (now rather old, but it's the latest release), but cannot connect with remmina or krdc. Both of them just hang for a while then say they can't connect. Curiously, they all will connect to the win10 box in my office. They don't show any other useful information, and I don't know where

off-topic question about RDP to Win-10
Not the answer you want but xfreerdp has worked for me where rdesktop no longer does (I take because of the new security settings) xfreerdp /bpp:16 /size:1200x720 /u:"raubvogel" /v:hostname:port On Mon, Nov 12, 2018 at 5:11 AM <me at tdiehl.org> wrote: > > On Sun, 11 Nov 2018, Fred Smith wrote: > > > I have a win10 VM in virtualbox on my Linux (C7) desktop. Wine and Remote Desktop??---- can't get mouse focus
hi all: I copied over a windows MSTSC.exe and ran the remote desktop, it gave me a small window for the IP address, then after the successful connection, it shows me the (full screen ) XP login interface, weir thing is, it loses mouse / keyboard focus now, so I can't type in anything, neither can I close the window, the focus is still on the background (gnome) desktop, so I could press

[OT] Remote control of a WinXP machine from a Linux host
Sorry for an off topic post, but a lot of you folks are sysadmins here or there, and just might have a suggestion... ;-) I have a WinXP machine that is to be unattended for a period of 3 years (yes, I know, it sounds ridiculous, but still...). What I need is remote access to it to perform regular system maintenance, virus cleanups, occasional software installations, reboots, config changes,

Wine'ing Windows Terminal Server Client
I've tried multiple ways to get into terminal server via WINE, but have had no success. I've got Notes, Service Center, Internet Explorer... pretty much all running smoothly... but when I try to use Internet explorer to get into it, I get a box that is outlined where the desktop is supposed to be (on the IE screen, and an object load error in the IE Log)... I then tried to run mstsc.exe

Setting up a GUI remote access
Currently I have VNC running on my Windows desktop with Samba providing access to my Linux server. Since Linux is more reliable than Windows, I would like to be able to access my Linux (Centos 5.5) via my Windows notebook - hopefully via VNC or some similar application and then access the Windows desktop (if it is not locked up :-) ) with Samba. What is the best VNC like application to

CentOS7 changes strike again.
Still in the process of migrating from an old CentOS5 server to a brand new CentOS7. After finally getting Virtualbox-5.0 installed and a new Wondoze10 Pro installed it became time to shift the data from the old server to the new. The old server is headless and I installed the old WindozeXP into the Virtualbox4.x via the command line. To do some of the admin I needed to attach to the windoze

[LLVMdev] Clarification suggestion for the documention of LLVM
Hello, The documentation on http://llvm.org/docs/GettingStartedVS.html states that > You can run LLVM tests to build the project "check". This phrase seems a bit confusing, I think it would be clearer if formulated something like this: > You can run LLVM tests by merely building the project "check". The > test results will be shown in the VS output window. Thanks,

Workaround for (EL6.4) rdesktop-1.6.0-10 Woe
rdesktop has been spewing error messages since the update to CentOS 6.4. Aside from the continuous stream of errors in the terminal window from which it was launched, there are a number of usability issues in the remote session. The pointer does not change shape when moving over various window components such as column separators, window borders, etc. The background doesn't refresh within

RDP for Centos 7
Hi, Does anyone know of a good program for doing RDP to windows servers on C-7? The "Remote desktop viewer" program that comes with C7 is not reliable for me. I frequently have multiple long running RDP sessions and the keyboard will stop responding. The only way I can find to get it started again is to restart the program and login to the servers again. In addition, I cannot find a

WinXP Xen guest: compare VNC vs RDP
I'm experimenting with using WinXP Xen guests as an alternative to upgrading workstations. The administrative advantages seem overwhelming. Please share thoughts about using VNC vs RDP for remote desktop connections. Please share any anecdotal information regarding user reactions and/or implementation issues.
