Re: How much is involved in porting a new OS to Xen fullvirtualizaiton?
Well, first, you''re going to have a lot of trouble getting anyone to touch SCO these days. With all the legal stuff they''ve pulled over the past couple of years I''m sure that no one is going to be eager to get in their way on purpose.
What issues are you having getting SCO to run under XEN? Theoretically, with XEN HVM support, you ought to be able to run just about

CentOS 6 VM image for paravirtualizaton on CentOS Xen server
I'm looking at a CentOS 5 Xen server that I'd really like to put some
more recent VM's. There are reasons not to touch it at the moment, so
I can't upgrade it in place today.
Has anyone successfully installed a CentOS 6 VM, paravirtualized, on a
CentOS 5 Xen server , without significant Xen upgrades? If so, can I
get a copy from a reputable source, or one that I can review before

iTunes
Hi All,
I am putting together a high end workstation quote for a customer. He is
going to want a Virtual Machine, specifically so he can run iTunes (his
wife buys music through iTunes and sync's them to her iPod).
So which VM would you guys use? KVM or Virtual Box?
I am very familiar with KVM and adore it. It's USB support is kind of
weird though (iPod).
I have been seriously burned

Anti-virus for use in para-virtualized Xen
I''ve been looking at anti-virus software for Xen use on Linux systems,
on both Dom0 and DomU, in industrial environments. Reviewing
documentation on various packages seems to show that all the commercial
ones insist on sticking kernel modules into a limited set of standard
known kernels. This of course creates some serious risks until the
anti-virus packages are developed in and

Physical disks + Software Raid + lvm in domU
Hi,
I''m trying to setup my box as described below:
- The Dom0 exports two disks as physical devices to the DomU
- DomU use the two devices to assemble a software raid device (/dev/md0)
- On the /dev/md0 I create a lvm volume group and lvm volumes on it.
Everything seems to work fine if the lvm volumes on the DomU are lightly
used. Under heavy load the DomU freeze up immediately.

Upgrading Xen 3 on SL 5 server with CentOS 5 and SL 5
I'm dealing with an old Xen 3 server, and badly need to update it and all the vm's on it to more contemporary operating systems. So far, so good!
Can the Xen server on CentOS 5 para-virtualized CentOS 6? And if not, I'm having real trouble getting a live cd or installation media to boot in full virtualization to do the update of the guests.
I'd normally start by updating the Xen

Building on RHEL 8
Good evening:
I've been trying to build up Samba on RHEL 8. My work is at:
https://github.com/nkadel/samba4repo/tree/nkadel-rhel8
I've run into a number of issues. One is that RHEL 8 does not have an
uptodate mocka. I've add a git submodule for that. Another is that
various python modules are missing: Again, I've added modules for
that. Another is that RHEL 8 introduced a very

mount xen partitions inside logical volume from dom0?
I''ve installed a FC5 domU under RHEL5-beta2 dom0 with virt-manager.
As the disk for domU I used:
phy:/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol02,xvda,w
In the domU I have partitions:
/dev/xvda1 on / type ext3 (rw)
/dev/xvda2 on /var type ext3 (rw)
How do I access these partitions from dom0? For example if I take an
LVM snapshot of
LogVol02, how do I mount the / partition of the domU installed on

Can we get a copy of ks.cfg for varous images into /root/ks.cfg?
I've recently been dealing with various CentOS images on AWS, and am
being forcibly reminded that the "/root/anaconda-ks.cfg" has only a
passing resemblance to whatever the kickstart configuration file
actually contained. But getting a copy of the actual "ks.cfg" is
invaluable for updating and testing variations of the kickstart setup,
especially when manipulating disk

problem in starting xend
problem in starting xend
I tried to install xen, but got some errors when starting xend.
as I logged in and tried to start xend
(/etc/init.d/xend start). I just got six-seven dot (.) printed out, then it
stops. I looked more closely and found that xend could not start.
then I looked at /var/log/xend-debug.log. here is the last few lines:
