kickstart + domU for static IP
I've set up a local webserver to store kickstart files for domUs. All
parameters are respected apart from the network settings. DomU always
gets DHCP. Can any one help to unwrap this one? Does one add hostname,
ip, netmask and gateway values to the /etc/xen/blah.cfg file?

Both Dom0 and DomU have the same ip address...
How do I assign a public ip address for Dom0 and then a separate one for
DomU? I wanna do this so I can get some practice using ssh from dom0 to
DomU. I wanted to interact between the two to get some good networking
experience using all sorts of protocols between the two. Anyhow, I have
eth0 on dom0 as dhcp. So when peth0 comes up during the network-bridge
script, which then turns into eth0 on

Xen domU default gateway missing/ARP table full
I have been trying to figure out why my domU NIC becomes unreachable
(could not even ping) at various times. (Normally when the server was
trying to update clamav from the various busy mirrors at 4am). There
also seemed to be some latency when connecting which I chalked up to it
being a virtual machine.
When I checked my logs, I found thousands of :

domUloader Vs pygrub
Hi
I have been using pygrub for most of the needs. Was
trying out some stuff on SLES 10 SP1. It seems that it
does not have pygrub!!
On the other hand, they have domUloader.py which
requires bootargs="--entry=hda:/boot/vmlinuz...., path
to ramdisk.
It is quite strange to be asking for the path of
the kernel and the ramdisk to be supplied in the conf
file!!.
Am I missing something

Seeing the IP addresses of domUs from dom0
Using a default xen3.0.1 setup for dom0(rhel4 distro) and domUs (gentoo,
rhel4, centos4.2 distros, ttylinux) with the domUs all having dhcp
turned on, is there an easy way to tell from within the dom0 what ip
addresses were assigned to the domUs after bootup?

domU static IP
Hi,
I''m trying to setup xen on a server with bridge networking. I have
RedHat as my dom0. I have two Ubuntu instances and one CentOS instance
as domU''s. All of them (dom0 and domU) use static ip addresses.
The configuration files for domU''s specify in the vif line what ip
address to be assigned to that particular domU. It works fine for my
ubuntu domU''s. But

Bug#603417: xen-hypervisor-4.0-amd64: domU fails to obtain IP address from dom0 dhcp server (dhclient complains about checksum error)
Package: xen-hypervisor-4.0-amd64
Version: 4.0.1-1
Severity: normal
Because my networking was getting rather complex I cloned my
firewall/net server as domU/dom0 to offload some services to the domU.
I use bridged networking with the domU virtual adaptor connected to the
internal ethernet interface used to provide services (which is normally
the single port of the bridge).

Opensolaris domU unable to get dhcp lease
I''m running a ubuntu 9.04 64 bit dom0 with kernel 2.6.29.6 and xen
3.4.0. My eth0 is bridged to br0 and to my guest VMs. The dom0 is
running a dhcp server on br0 which is able to provide leases to
physical machines on eth0, and also to a windows xp domU which is
bridged to br0. However my open solaris 2009.6 domU is unable to
obtain a dhcp lease.
On the opensolaris side I can see this:

How to install an Ubuntu DomU on Ubuntu 10.04 Dom0
Hi,
I''m a newbie in VM/Xen. As a first step to do some study/experiment on VM, I
want to install Ubutnu (10.04) as DomU on top of Ubutu (10.04) Dom0.
I need some direction to stat with:
- how to install the DomU image
- how to configure the network address
I''d be greatly thankful to you for providing some useful link to this end.
Thank you in advance.

Changing MAC address of Xen domU after live migration?
Hi,
For my experiment on live migration of Xen VMs, I want the MAC address of
the migrated VM (domU) to change soon after migration, but just before the
Gratuitous ARP reply is sent. Do you know where in the code/scripts I can
add this feature?
Thanks,
Vikram

How to list IP used by domU
Hello,
I''m trying to script a tool that return all the @ip for all the domU I have.
Is it possible to have those informations from within the dom0 ? (maybe
by connecting to the domU from the dom0 ?)
Thank you

HVM WinXP dom crash
Hi
Trying to get WinXP HVM to install as domU on AMD. Got latest Xen Kernel and Xen package (NOT unstable or debug).
When start, a window pops up for few seconds.. then it dies and another one comes up... and it disappears too. (Xen is trying to restart and giving up because the restart happens in 2 seconds..) It seems DomU is not able to read/understand something from Cirrus VGABIOS.

obtaining sysinfo for domU from dom0
I got a strange problem: I need to get sysinfo() data from domU in my
application, running in dom0.
Right now I using a userspace daemon in every domU, updating information
in xenstore, and my application read this information...
But I think, it really strange: why we can not get those info directly
from PV kernel without going to kernel and back to userspace multiple
times?
Is any way to get

Problem with multiple IPs in DomU
I`m trying to setup interface aliases in domU (eth0:1-5) but when I do
ifconfig eth0:1 1.2.3.X , DomU sends the following arp to the world:
16:17:33.585940 arp reply 1.2.3.Y is-at 00:16:3e:3d:35:28 (quote from tcpdump
on eth0 on the DomU)
where 1.2.3.Y is the IP of the eth0.
So when I try to bring the 5 aliases at boot time I send 5 arp replies, all
saying that my eth0 IP is at my hw address

VM nic not taking IP address
I have a DomU as a firewall (using the Dom0 kernel). I hid the three
nics from Dom0 and assigned them to the firewall VM. The firewall VM
sees the three nics no problem. Eth0 comes up and grabs an IP
automatically from my DHCP server, however eth1 and eth2 are configured
with static IPs but they do not come up with an IP:
Here is my ''ifconfig'':
[root@fw01 ~]# ifconfig
eth0
