BROADCOM 5708 ON POWER EDGE 1955
Hello, I''ve this strange problem.
When Xen kernel start and it try to start eth devices, network doesn''t work.
It seems to be a problem with NICs firmware.
Anyone had this problem? Do you know where I can download firmware upgrade?
(on DELL''s site I''ve just searched...)
Thanks,
Carlo

XEN - Broadcom issue: survey
I totally agree with Luc Boudreau about this problem.
On modern branded server they ALL use Broadcom chipset... I must admit that:
a) lot of people are experiencing the problem but can tolerate it
or
b) someone already experienced this problem and solved it
Lets'' approach the problem pragmatically... just start with a survey on
the list. ... hope we solve this issue soon.

Xen 3.1 + CentOS 5 + HP ProLiant G5 = DomU packet drops
Hi all,
I''ve a Xen server (Xen 3.1 compiled from sources [stable downloaded last
wed...], CentOS 5 as the host OS, HP Proliant G5 6Gb ram with Broadcom
NetXtreme 2) with 4 guests, each running Windows 2003 just installed, with
nothing else.
Network is configured with the default bridging script, no changes. I''m
using 1 network card only for the moment.
All guests run apparently

XEN HVMs on LVM over iSCSI - test results, (crashes) and questions
Hi all,
some results from my configuration.
I''ve this configuration (I''m not interested in raw top performances but
in reliability.. so, I can accept slow MB/sec and prefer to rely on a
RAID6, for example):
1 Infortrend iSCSI Array A16E-G2130-4 with:
- 1GB DDR cache
- RAID6
- 7 x 500GB sataII Seagate ST3500630NS with 16mb (no budget for SAS)
- one of the logic volumes (about

Image file or partitions over an iSCSI?
Dear all,
I will setup soon an Infortrend iSCSI SAN device with a raid6 volume and
a DELL PE1950 (8 VMs) with a Qlogic iSCSI HBA (server to be duplicated
at later time for redundancy).
My priorities are:
1) VMs on the iSCSI SAN in order to boot them also by another server if
the first one fails
2) performances
3) live migration is a non mandatory option (i.e. I can suffer to

DRBD 8.0.6 introduces "native" live-migration ability
Thought this would be interesting for some people:
Version 8.0.6 of DRBD comes with a nice script that adds support for a
config like
disk = [ ''drbd:r0,hda1,w'' ]
This supports migration and live migration without having to take care
of drbd yourself. Really nice feature.
Read changelog on 8.0.6 on:

Type annotations for R function parameters.
Hello.
One of my clients asked if it would be possible to have an IDE which could
use type discovery for R functions to make flow-like construction of an R
program. Something like a LabView graphical composition of processing
elements.
They called this type of program composition a "workflow".
I looked at some of this programs, like:

Lab manager for Xen
Hi,
[1]
I have spent time learning Xen, as compared to Vmware.
Is there an opensource tool for managing the various Xen domains both
locally and remotely ?
It can be commandline or GUI based.
VMware has a Lab Manager. I am looking for something similar (or
superior) for Xen too.
[2]
Redhat has the virt-manager. And allows us to connect the hypervisor to
local host and remote host.
How does that

Re: Poor performance running WinXP x86 hvm underCentOS5.1x64 with xen3.1
I found on some CPUs an ACPI based HVM chews up a lot of CPU time versuses an APIC HVM, so in Windows I would change the computer type in device manager to "Standard PC" and disable acpi in the domain config.

Re: Retry reboots in xmls files for libvirt
Hi,
I am not using quemu, i am using XEN, is there any option to allow me to do
that?
In the libvirt documentation specify that those options are only available
on quemu.

Retry reboots in xmls files for libvirt
Hi,
I have a virtual machine defined by xml that start from pxe (network boot),
my problem is that sometimes the dhcp server is not ready when the virtual
machine try to boot.
I need that the virtual machine keep asking for dhcp (network reboot) many
times, until dhcp is ready and can start the virtual machine with a valid
ip.
How can I configure that in the xml file?

[LLVMdev] LLVM Hello Pass load error when using opt -load Hello.so
Hey Chuck,
I'm afraid I can't reproduce your error but...a problem you may run
into later is that opt will complain with

void<unnamed>::PassRegistrar::RegisterPass(const llvm::PassInfo&):
Assertion `Inserted && "Pass registered multiple times!"' failed.

I "fixed" this by replacing the LLVMLIBS line in

[LLVMdev] What happened to "malloc" in LLVM 3.0 IR?
Hello folks,
I have a compiler written with LLVM 2.6 by a student that produces .ll files, It behaved fine at the time.
Trying to take the work over using version 3.0, I run into the problem that "malloc" in the IR is no longer valid:
semac1 menu > llvm-as Carre.ll
llvm-as: Carre.ll:68:14: error: expected instruction opcode
