Network cards not recognised
Hi, We have a HP DL385 G6 server that is having an issue. Two of the 4 network cards are not being recognised by Linux. We have quite a few other servers with the same hardware and no issues but, before I call HP, I would like to make sure that I am not doing anything wrong :) I have tried with the kernel that came with CentOS 5.5 and the updated one kernel-2.6.18-194.11.3. I do an lspci

Kernel Panic on HP/Compaq ProLiant G7
Hello Everyone, I recently installed CentOS 5.5 x86_64 on a brand new ProLiant DL380 G7. I have identical OS software running reock-solid on two other DL380 ProLiant servers, but they are G6 models, not G7. On the G7, the installation went perfectly and the machine ran great for about 2 weeks, when it just seemed to "stop". The system stopped responding on the network, and there was

Problems with BCM5709 network
I've just installed CentOS 5.4 on an IBM server with a BCM5709 network adapter, and can't get networking to work. It looks like an appropriate driver (bnx2) is installed, lspci and the system log return sensible info on the unit, there are no specific error message anywhere, but I get "no link present" when I try to activate the device. In other words, I see essentially the

Do I need a xenU initrd image?
Hi, I just created a Xen domU using http to install over the network. How do I now restart the domU and use the installed OS? I gather I need a initrd image to boot my guest. I''ve found bits and pieces of answers to my question referring to mkinitrd, but none seem to work. I am running Scientific Linux 5. Thanks in advance, Cam _______________________________________________

CentOS 6 : Network Interface Naming
Hello All, I have one CentOS 6 KVM virtualization server that I built around a year ago (best I can tell it was in October 2012) at which time I would have been installing 6.3 [0]. That particular install used the Consistent Network Device Naming [1] conventions (PCIe NICs are p1p1, p1p2). I started to build out a new KVM virt server (kickstarting a 6.4 install now as compared to 6.3 back then)

xen 3.4.0 debian lenny problem with Fujitsu Siemens Server
Hi, I using on all server (FSC RX100S5) xen 3.3.1 and kernel 2.6.26-1 or 2.6.26-2,evrything it works good. Now I try using xen 3.4.0 with the same kernel but the system not up only go to the initramfs. I suspect that the kernel did not load the driver for the controller. The question just why it works on a Xen 3.3.1 does not work on 3.4 with the same versions of the kernel . Below I put

Sluggish server with big array
Hi! I am experiencing strange behavior with my new CentOS 6.3 installation (system up to date). I have a big 11 TB EXT4 array mounted on /home/data. The server is a Tyan 2U (TA26-B3992-E) with Dual Opteron 2216, one cpu has 4 Gigs RAM and the other has 8 Gigs (so 12 Gigs total). The server uses 8 x Seagate 2TB SAS hard disks (7200 RPM) and all the disks are grouped together to form 1

Can't install CentOS4
Hi everyone, My email server is running CentOS 3 and I can't upgrade it to CentOS 4 using the CD's. At first I thought it was the old Megaraid card (that's no longer supported), so I replaced that with a new card. I've tried ISO's from CentOS 4, 4.1 and now 4.2 which I've tested and booted in other machines. Just not this one. I've never had a problem like this

Centos 5.3, no AHCI on HP DL320 G5p?
I have one HP Proliant DL320 G5p, where for some reason, the AHCI mode is not enabled. According to server specs, it should have AHCI/NCQ capability, but ata_piix module gets loaded during bootup, not ahci module. Any ideas how to enable AHCI mode? lspci output: # lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 3200/3210 Chipset DRAM Controller (rev 01) 00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation
