XEN HVMs on LVM over iSCSI - test results, (crashes) and questions
Hi all, some results from my configuration. I''ve this configuration (I''m not interested in raw top performances but in reliability.. so, I can accept slow MB/sec and prefer to rely on a RAID6, for example): 1 Infortrend iSCSI Array A16E-G2130-4 with: - 1GB DDR cache - RAID6 - 7 x 500GB sataII Seagate ST3500630NS with 16mb (no budget for SAS) - one of the logic volumes (about

Best way to take snapshots of iSCSI devices using Open-iSCSI + CentOS
Hi, I want to take snapshots of a iSCSI devices from a target that hasn't snapshot/cloning capabilities (it's a Infortrend A16E storage array). What method are you using to make snapshots/clones of iSCSI targets using Open-iSCSI + CentOS? What about using Open-iSCSI + LVM snapshots system? For example: - Take a LVM snapshot in the initiator with "lvcreate". - Give read-only

XEN - Broadcom issue: survey
I totally agree with Luc Boudreau about this problem. On modern branded server they ALL use Broadcom chipset... I must admit that: a) lot of people are experiencing the problem but can tolerate it or b) someone already experienced this problem and solved it Lets'' approach the problem pragmatically... just start with a survey on the list. ... hope we solve this issue soon. Resize iscsi partitions?
Hi, I have a c5 machine with a 3ware controller in it that I am using for iscsi targets. The iscsi target is built on lvm. The client then sees it as /dev/sdb1. If I put a gpt partition on it and try to shrink it I loose the partition table. If I expand it gparted complains with the following warning: "Not all of the space available to /dev/sda appears to be used, you can fix the GPT to use

Here is something I am currently lokoing at, and wondering if you'd considered it or if anyone here has done it. Retry reboots in xmls files for libvirt
Hi, I have a virtual machine defined by xml that start from pxe (network boot), my problem is that sometimes the dhcp server is not ready when the virtual machine try to boot. I need that the virtual machine keep asking for dhcp (network reboot) many times, until dhcp is ready and can start the virtual machine with a valid ip. How can I configure that in the xml file? Export ZFS via ISCSI to Linux - Is it stable for production use now?
Hello, I want to setup an opensolaris for centralized storage server, using ZFS as the underlying FS, on a RAID 10 SATA disks. I will export the storage blocks using ISCSI to RHEL 5 (less than 10 clients, and I will format the partition as EXT3) I want to ask... 1. Is this setup suitable for mission critical use now? 2. Can I use LVM with this setup? Currently we are using NFS as the

I have two Asterisk servers running on the same LAN. One starts fine, but when I start the other I get: pbx_dundi.c:4582 load_module: Unable to bind to 0.0.0.0 port 4520: Address already in use and Asterisk does not start. OK I thought, I'll just change the port in dundi.conf. I changed it to 4521 and indeed it started just fine, until I reboot that is. WHen I reboot, I get the same
