windows XP Guest network doesn''t work
I have Xen 3.0.3 installed on RH EL5 via RedHat RPMs. I have a Win/XP Pro HVM and a Linux rh5 HVM. I can create both w/o a problem and can interact with the VNC based console for both VMs. The Linux VM interacts via DHCP, obtains an IP and seems to work fine on the network. The Win/XP VM doesn''t work with either DHCP or a static IP address assignment. I can see the virtual interfaces

WinXP console
I''m using RHEL 5. One of the virtual machines I have running is a WinXP install. I start this up after I login to X. If I log out of X, the virtual WinXP is still running (that''s fine with me). However when I log back into X and start the Virtual Machine Manager, I am unable to open the machine. It normally says "Virtual Machine Console is unavailable." There does

BSD domU with HVM
Hi all! I have recently purchased an Athlon X2 3800+ and I should like to install FreeBSD or OpenBSD in a HVM domU on Xen 3.0.3-1 dom0 (Debian packages). Is it possible? In such case, can someone recommend me a guide/howto to accomplish it? Thanks in advance. RFC: MCA/MCE concept
Hello! The current MCA/MCE support in Xen is that it dumps the error and panics. In the following concept I propose here, there are two places where Xen has to react on. I) Xen receives a MCE from the CPU and II) Xen receives Dom0 instructions via Hypercall The term "self-healing" below is used in the sense of using the most propriate technique(s) to handle an error such as MPR

VMWare vs. Xen, is the conflict by VMware deliberate?
I''ve been trying to virtualize SCO OpenServer 5.0.6 for various reasons, and found that the Xensource 4.x doesn''t support it, nor does the open source Xen 3.x in any of the environments I''ve tried. It works on VMware, but for various reasons I prefer to use Xen on my Dom0. (I like open source, and the base OS for the commercial reasons is much, much more recent, and

[PATCH v2 0/4] XEN: fix vmx exception mistake
Changes from v1: - Define new struct hvm_trap to represent information of trap, include instruction length. - Renames hvm_inject_exception to hvm_inject_trap. Then define a couple of wrappers around that function for existing callers, so that their parameter lists actually *shrink*. This series of patches fix the mistake for debug exception(#DB), overflow exception(#OF) and INT3(#BP),

CentOS 5 Issues Booting Under VMWare
Hi, VMWare has been a great tool for me to experiment with CentOS 3 and CentOS 4. However, I'm running into issues with CentOS 5. First, it is *extremely* slow to boot (as in it takes over an hour to boot CentOS 5 on a machine that boots CentOS 3 & 4 in less than one minute). Then, after an hour of slowly watching the messages go by on the console and the CPU of the host machine pegged

VirtualBox on XEN DomU
Hi, although it is primarily a VirtualBox problem, but maybe someone knows the answer here. I read that it is not possible to run vbox on dom0. http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/2383 Is it possible to run it on domU? How to virtualize Xen itself?
Hello, Is it possible to run a Xen server inside of a kqemu/kvm/virtualbox VM? I am new to Xen, and Linux in general. (Just installed Ubuntu 7.10 on my main laptop) The idea would be to try and learn about Xen before attempting to deploy on real HW. -- Thanks P.S. I do have an Intel VT capable CPU, if that matters. --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. Make Yahoo

Virtualization question
I want to use Centos5 as my host os and virtualize a windows server on it. [RFC] Hypercalls from HVM guests
Hi, I am currently working on hypercalls from HVM guests. I started with a set of Intel patches posted to xen-devel last September. I currently have code running for both 32-bit and 64-bit HVM guests running on a 64-bit hypervisor. I am curious why none of the original patches were accepted, and what I might need to do to make them acceptable. Is other work being done in this area that
