Slow performance to samba server with OSX client
Dear List,
I'm hoping there is someone that might give me some pointers to
solving the following problem. I run Mac OSX Tiger and perform a
filecopy using Finder to a samba share on a Gentoo Linux machine
running samba version 3.0.14a. Copying a 1GB file to the fileserver
takes roughly 2 hours (33,9 MB in 4 min). This means 142 kb/s over a
Gigabit network.
Now here is the strange thing:

Hi,
Curiously, it''s worth noting that Xeon Processor 5100 series are not in the list of HVM Compatible Processors :

pam_winbind + password never expires [re-post]
Sorry for the repost, but I've not gotten any response and the problem
persists. Does anyone have any idea how to fix?

I read a few posts in the archives about this problem and that it was to
be fixed in 3.0.23c. Currently I'm running 3.0.23d-2+b1 on a debian

Hi,
Yes, I already thought about it.
I have the sernet repo installed.. Is possible to yum update and jump
from 4.1.6 to 4.1.14 directly, without problems or should I follow some
kind of procedure to avoid future problems?

EXTLINUX 4.02 can't boot Windows partition
Hello,
I use the extlinux bootloader, and I've recently discovered that the
current version can no longer boot Windows. The message it flashes is
"Requested partition not found!"
After downgrading to the version 3.86, it was able boot correctly.
Unfortunately, I do not know in which was the last version which was
able to boot Windows (I rarely boot it), but I am pretty sure that

disk performance on server migrated
hi.
i was migrated an old woody samba server to a new lenny samba
virtualized server.
That server is a PDC with random profiles and file server.
Some users are reporting me bad performance in the app shared (all
developed on MS-ACCESS). the memory and cpu reports in the domU show
all fine, but i have some doubts in the disk performance. The dom0 is

Problem with dom0_mem and tmpfs on SLES10
Hello friends!
In this week, i had a problem with Xen version 3.0.2_09749-0.7 on SLES10 for
x86, when
the initrd-xen file was loaded. On console, various messages about "No space
left on device"
appears later that the "/dev" was monted on a tmpfs filesystem (for udev).
The only sollution for this problem at that moment, was remove the

WinDbg?
Hello,
I have been struggling with WinDbg/Kd for the last week, but to no avail... So I finally decided to ask here.
Basically, I am using a Windows XP virtual machine (thanks to VMWare6) and wanted to do some kernel debugging using Windbg. So, I did configure everything from the virtual machine side (using this guide: http://silverstr.ufies.org/lotr0/windbg-vmware.html), and then tried my hands
