HVM Linux just installed but does not do its first boot
Just successfully installed SLES9.3-32bit as file-backended HVM domU.
Everything went OK, the distributive partitioned its "harddisk" into root and swap OK, have its grub installed into sda boot sector, but I could not make to boot no one single first time after installation. Every domU boot gives the following screen for a short time and dies:
Booting from Hard Disk...

xen 3.1 - domU hangs just after "xm create"
What are methods to debug domU when it hangs? Using xen 3.1 compiled from sources I could not manage to launch no domU. Fot instance, I run something like this:

Probando R en el EC2 de Amazon (ligeramente OT)
Hola, ¿qué tal?
He aprovechado este puente para probar R sobre el EC2 de Amazon. He
escrito mis experiencias en
http://analisisydecision.es/probando-r-sobre-el-ec2-de-amazon/
En el EC2 de Amazon uno puede alquilar un servidor con una determinada
configuración por horas. La configuración es, esencialmente, de hardware
y software. Aparentemente, uno puede crear "configuraciones" con

Web crawler - spider and Amazon Web Servces (AWS)
I need to create a web crawler and the closest thing to a tutorial
I''ve found so far is this article:
http://developer.amazonwebservices.com/connect/entry.jspa?externalID=1182
wich I think I found via RubyInside or some blog.
It uses some of Amazone Web Services, mainly SQS, but this would be my
first time outsourcing a process to a third party and I would like to
know if someone in the

Rails Plugin for swfobject? - swf_fu
Hi all,
I''ve been using a plugin called swf_fu which seemed fairly easy to
implement for adding flash content to my rails app. However, I''m trying
to pass a variable to my flash through rails and have the flash content
pick it up.
The variable is already retrieved in an earlier call to the database so
I don''t believe it''s any type of authentication string

Adobe PageMaker 6.5
I installed PM65 today and the install went well. However when I attempt
to run PM65 from the Wine menu I receive the following error message:
Cannot start PageMaker.
Unable to load icon DLL for this screen.

However, if from a terminal I cd to the PM65 directory in .wine and
issue: wine pm65.exe the program opens and runs - I have even edited,

Asterisk on the Cloud With a Click - pre-built Asterisk Amazon EC2 instance
Asterisk-users,
Our two-part tutorial explaining how to use VoIP and Asterisk in
Amazon?s Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) has garnered quite a bit of
attention. But due to the time required to complete the many steps
needed to get up and running, some of you have asked if it is possible
to create a much simpler to install ?pre-built? Asterisk EC2 ?instance.?
In short, yes it is. And we?ve

Question Fe and BE device
Hello,
I try to install some applications on XEN. These applications have a
automated install and are based on SLES10SP3. During the installation
the device searches for /dev/sr0. Which fails in the xen enviroment. I
now make a work around with booting a rescue system and mounting
/dev/hdc and so on. But it should not be that difficult to install
something into XEN.
Can Somebody shed some

Offering downloads only to registered users
I''m writing an app for a blood exam center, where people can go and check
the results without going physically there. The customers log in the system
and a pdf download is offered to them. The downloads though will not be
stored in the db but in the filesystem.
How can I allow people to download files only if they''re authorised? I
obviously can''t store all the files in

Nouveau Digest, Vol 104, Issue 60, GV-N430OC-1GL is needed to work under kernel 2.4
Hello!
I have very old distributive (RedHat 7.2, kernel 2.4.8-20).
One important program works on it with graphical user's interface.
(X11 works, KDE works.)
But this hard disk (IDE) is very old. Due of that my task now is to clone
this system to another (more modern, SATA) hard disk.
I have connected to this motherboard new disk (SATA) with Windows-7.
I have download from the

tc don''t working under SUSE 10.0 OSS
Hello,
I can''t force tc to work under SUSE 10.0 OSS.
Before this we have working system under SUSE 9.1 (with kernel
2.6.15.4), and consider to move this system to another hardware.
I install SUSE 10.0, first with kernel from distributive, than with
kernel 2.6.16.18, than with 2.6.15.4 (the same version as on working
system), but I can''t force tc to work.

Molecule-like Notation for Arrays -- anyone interested?
At the APL conference in Berlin on July 24 I am giving a
talk about about a molecule-like notation for arrays for
which some prototype code is available in R. It is a
graphical notation for arrays of higher rank which makes the
structure of arrays and their various concatenations
intuitively apparent, and which, in my judgment, would make
an excellent interface for array programming languages. I

undef * 0
Hi Soham,
You're right that in LLVM IR arithmetic (with the current definition
of `undef`) is not distributive. You can't replace `A * (B + C)` with
`A * B + A * C` in general, since (exactly as you said) for A =
`undef`, B = `1`, C = `-1` the former always computes `0` while the
latter computes `undef`. This is fundamentally because replacing `A *
(B + C)` with `A * B + A * C`

Please
Please provide a greater number of old versions for new Linux versions...
For example, Im using Ubuntu 8.04 and it's ok... but I cant go to 8.10 cause there is no Wine 1.1.2 for that Ubuntu version provided .deb packages archive, and I cant launch some programs and games on higher Wines...
And at least for now we dont rly have Wine working so well that we wouldn't want to try more than

more reassociation in IR
I mentioned this earlier in the thread - I would like to see something like
D41574 in the optimizer. It's optimizing code that no other pass does
currently, and I don't see any other near-term proposal that gets us those
optimizations.
Omer, can you rebase that to trunk? I think a header has moved, so it
doesn't build as-is. I'd like to know if it can catch the cases in D45842.

Dell PowerEdge 6800 hangs from time to time with dom0 only
It turns hard to make XEN 3.0 running on my middle-sized server.
Now when XEN 3.0 is released I first successfully put it on several PCs and then decided to probe it on SMP and PAE enabled Dell PowerEdge 6800 server. And experienced intermittent hangs just after dom0 comes up. The [login:] prompt comes up and the server hangs completely for a while and in some 2-10 minutes releases just to let me
