domu under sles10
Hi, I''m trying to build non sles10 domU under sles10 dom0. I''ve downloaded centos and debian images from www.jailtime.org fixed the config file and try to start domU. After creating domU from images I get Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0) I''m running without problems two sles10 domU machines. After using google allot :-)

xen 3.1 - domU hangs just after "xm create"
What are methods to debug domU when it hangs? Using xen 3.1 compiled from sources I could not manage to launch no domU. Fot instance, I run something like this: =====8<===================== disk = [ ''file:/oradata-act/sles.disk,hda1,w'', '',hdc:cdrom,r'' ] kernel = "/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.18-xen" ramdisk = "/boot/initrd-2.6.18-xen" cpus =

Folks, Mercurial is selectable as an installation in OpenSUSE 10.3 YAST. I have done the following: hg clone http://xenbits.xensource.com/xen-unstable.hg hg clone http://xenbits.xensource.com/linux-2.6.18-xen.hg make dist sh ./install.sh I tried running the following to create the initrd but it failed: Depending on your config, you may need to use ''mkinitrd'' to

AMD-64 install hangs on kernel load
I''m trying to install xen-3.0.4 from source on a debian sarge (3.1r4) box with dual AMD-64 processors (with the new HVM support, although I don''t think that''s got anything to do with the problem). I installed only the packages necessary to compile xen and its kernel(gcc, make, bzip2, bridge-utils, etc). In the source directory, I ran ''make world &&

Still having problems with xen guest boot
I don''t know what has happened because know I can''t even get this guest booting. The guest conf I think is correct: kernel = "/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.18-8.1.4.el5xen" builder=''linux'' memory = 384 name = "ns1" vcpus = 1 #vif = [ ''mac=FE:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF , ip=139.185.48.214, ''bridge=xenbr1'' ] vif = [ '''',

Fighting some install issues with a new box
Folks- I have had a machine dropped in my lap that I am trying to get CentOS 4.1 to run on as a first pass (the hope is for it to eventually run Rocks -- http://www.rocksclusters.org , which uses CentOS 4.x as its underlying OS). The machine has 2 Opteron 250DP (2.4GHz) with 4 GB of RAM. It is using a Tyan Thunder K8WE (S2895A2NRF) motherboard with an nVidia nForce chipset --

Xen 3.1.0 initrd and kernel building
Hi, had a few problems with using xen: First: built a xen from source (tgz) and make dist ... then made initrd with mkinitrd and modules=all in the mkinitrd.conf -> initrd.img was 14mb and set it up in the grub with module /initrd.... on boot it loads the initrd like: Loading ramdisk into ram .... done but then NO MODULES in the initrd are being loaded by the kernel, though initrd

installing xen-3.0.3 on AMD sempron, CentOS4.4
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi I''m currently using xen-3.0.2-testing on several servers. But when xen 3.0.3 was announced I wanted to try it, of course it should have several iprovements and bugfixes, etc. I did the same steps I was previously done in order to compile xen-3.0.2, and in fact xen compiled and installed very cleanly. I created my initrd image and then I

windows 2003
I have finally gotten one version of windows 2003 r2 x64 installed as a guest. The bad news is no network. The network tab says it''s a realtek 8139 when I know it is a intel. I tried downloading the intel drivers and they wont install says it''s the wrong hard ware. Is this common that it uses a 8139 as a generic network card? Also the network card shows The

Xen 3.0.2 on AMD64 - and initrd fun :)
Mm, I have a big Quad-Opteron.. thing.. that I''m trying to get Xen onto. I''ve used the 3.0.2 binary-install mode, updated menu.lst as per the README, but I need an initrd which contains the HP cciss RAID driver, and no Xen initrd image was installed into /boot. Now I notice xen-3.0.2-2-install/install/lib/modules/2.6.16-xen/kernel/drivers /block/cciss.ko But I

System seams slower with Xenified kernel and xend dies with SIG 15
Hello all, I compiled the kernel with the xen patch and I seam to have trouble with some kernel modules, like ATI''s proprietary driver. The system seams considerably slower than before, this might be because of the video drivers, or maybe the RAM alocated to dom0 (512Mb instead of it''s usual 1Gb). When I try to run xend, it dies with a SIG 15. I attached the log file. Anyone

How the Centos 5.0's kickstart initrd.img is build??
Hi, Any one know how the Centos 5 kickstart initrd.img was built? I'll be very appreciated if any light can be shed on this topic. The basic problem to be solved here is: how to build a custom vmlinuz+initrd.img for Centos 5 kickstart with my own custom built kernel? I am not sure mkinitrd is the right tool for this purpose? If do, which are the modules I should include with

HVM WinXP dom crash
Hi Trying to get WinXP HVM to install as domU on AMD. Got latest Xen Kernel and Xen package (NOT unstable or debug). When start, a window pops up for few seconds.. then it dies and another one comes up... and it disappears too. (Xen is trying to restart and giving up because the restart happens in 2 seconds..) It seems DomU is not able to read/understand something from Cirrus VGABIOS.

Re: RE: RE: Why creating DomU failed (seems it is duetoLVM)
Hi, Mats, And more info: After I modified init script in DomU''s initrd, it can boot successfully. it is that i modified: mount -o defaults --ro -t ext3 /dev/root /sysroot to mount -o defaults --ro -t ext3 /dev/sda1 /sysroot it seems DomU loader just can''t find out which is the root device. I don''t know why it works, so I checked the mails before, and still
