Getting network working in HVM domU
Hi all, I now have Xen running on Intel Core2 duo system, and am running a HVM domU with Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, cold-installed from distribution CD. Problem is, Windows can''t get to the network. My dom0 ifconfig looks correct, as far as I can tell. I have a DHCP server on my local network, but the Windows XP domU claims to be unable to find DHCP. I''ve also tried

3.2.1 HVM network packets dropped
Dear, I''ve attempted to upgrade a Xen box from 3.1.2 to 3.2.1. Unfortunately it has been a partial success only. At this point I''m really stuck with a network problem that affects my HVM machines (Linux PV run fine). The really odd thing is that everything seems to work properly, except that the "vif" network interfaces in dom0 seem to have only dropped TX packets for

Arp Flip Flops make machine inaccessible.
CentOS 5.5 Xen "standard" Xen Installation. I have two nics. I just put the second one to DHCP and modified the ifcfg-et01 and so far I am holding, but I am not confident. Prior they were sequential IP Addrs on same subnet. arpwatch has indicated flip flips. I can find no rhyme or reason to predict them. I know I missed I must have missed a step somewhere. I want to keep the

[RFI]Is NAT broken with Linux HVM guests?
Hi All, I tried a usual NAT setup with a Linux HVM guest. Looks straight forward approach. Unfortunately I cannot ping even domain0''s eth0 interface. Xen assigns an IP address for me to vif1.0, where 1 is the domid of my HVM guest i.e 10.0.1.128(changes are per vmid and domid). I manually attached ip address 10.0.1.2 to eth0 in HVM domainU and add default gateway to be 10.0.1.128.

Unable to get Networking on HVM Domain
Hello everyone, I grabbed xen-3.3.1 sources from the Mercurial repository (xen-3.3-testing.hg, changeset 475:1cf755387728, from Oct. 23, 2008) and built Xen from these sources on a 32-core (8 quad core Barcelona CPUs) SunFire machine, running an Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardyy Heron) distribution. Everything seemed to be going OK until I booted an HVM (also Ubuntu 8.04) domain. That domain boots normally but

[SPAM] Xen bridge network issue
Hi, I have taken the long and winding road and indeed it lead me to your door. I need your help, please. My Xen includes 2 guests. Xen itself (10.2.0.52) gets free access to the outside world and to its guests. Both guests however (10.2.0.54/10.2.0.55) see each other but stay under house arrest! Not a single ping manages to go past the bridge (xenbr0) and get an answer from the default gateway

No connection in DomUs with network-route
Hi, I would like to know if somebody can point me out how to configure several DomUs in a private LAN (for example 192.168.100.0/24) and one DomU with two interfaces (one - 192.168.100.0/24 and two - internet). So far I have enabled in xend-config.sxp: (network-script network-route) (vif-script vif-route) My config files have: /mnt/VM/1.cfg:vif = [''ip=192.168.1.3'']

Vif only accepts connex after talking out of domain.
My domains dont see any traffic until you try to connect out from within the domain. Tried this several times and it was consistent. I have no firewall either. running each domain on different cpu probably doesn''t help, although Im no network expert. Here is some info. ================ [root@a root]# xm info system : Linux host : a.b.com release

Networking domU > Internet ping gives "destination host unreachable"
Hello @all, thanks for all the helpfull answers in this mailing list. They helped me compiling a new kernel 2.6.10.11 with Xen 2.0.6 (my first one), setting up a dom0 with RAID, LVM and loop devices for domU, integrating a second network as xen-br1 (I''m calling the /etc/xen/scripts/network script from within /etc/init.d/xend to bring up / down the second bridge.) and bootstrapping

No internet in the second DomU
Hello, I have problems with installation of my second DomU. I cannot ping it from the outside world and I cannot access outside world from this domain. I see it from Dom0 and my first DomU, same as my second DomU can ping Dom0 and my first DomU. I use xen 3.0.3 on ubuntu 6 LTS. DomU is running on debian. I also network-bridge script in the xend config.

SOLVED Re: ldap and computer accounts
The solution is quite simple: You need to configure pam-nss for samba to work. Essentially samba is using a 'getent' call to look up computers independent is configured as passdb backend. That means the pam-nss must be configured for samba to find the computer entries in ldap. I find this very much counter-intuitive ! Thanks to Tom Crummey <tom@ee.ucl.ac.uk> and John Drescher

ldap and computer accounts
I'm attemtping to configure a Ubuntu server for a bunch of windows clients. I'd like the authentication information to be in ldap.So far the stuff works, I can authenticate users in LDAP just fine. But when I want a windows machine to join the domain I get the error 'The user name could not be found'. The computer account gets created (via smbldap-tools) and I can see it in the

s10 HVM 64-bit boot
Hi -- I wanted to boot s10 HVM in 64-bit mode but it always boots in 32-bit mode. Is there a special grub entry to boot s10 HVM domU in 64-bit mode? Or is it HVM loader? The grub entry is like this title Solaris 10 5/08 s10x_u5wos_01 X86 kernel /platform/i86pc/multiboot module /platform/i86pc/boot_archive s10.py file is as follows :- import os, re arch = os.uname()[4] if

Bridged networking weirdness
Hi I''ve got a (gentoo) box set up for xen, 2.6.21-xen kernel as per portage about 2 weeks ago. Already got all my guests set up and almost good to go, except for very erratic networking issues. Networking on the domU''s does not always work. I have set up two physical adapters, and bridged both (by use of the modified network-bridge script from the archives) adapters for use

HVM Linux just installed but does not do its first boot
Just successfully installed SLES9.3-32bit as file-backended HVM domU. Everything went OK, the distributive partitioned its "harddisk" into root and swap OK, have its grub installed into sda boot sector, but I could not make to boot no one single first time after installation. Every domU boot gives the following screen for a short time and dies: Booting from Hard Disk... Boot from
