[PATCH] Enable Core 2 Duo Performance Counters in HVM guest
Hi, Keir,
Currently, HVM guests do not have access to performance counters. So it
is not possible to use performance analyzer software such as vtune in
HVM guest to analyze programme performance. Other usage of performance
counters , for example, the NMI watchdog, won''t function either.
This patch will enable performance counters in HVM guest. Currently,
only Core 2 Duo is implemented.

odd vmplayer problem
Is anyone using vmplayer with centos4.2 as the host? I have several
machines where it works great other than an error that says
"*** attempt to put segment in horiz list twice" in the xterm window
where it is started. However, on one machine it will start to boot
windows virtual machines (both win2000 and XP) and they hang about
3/4 through where the progress bar goes across the screen

HVM success story, now on server environment
I had the chance to test out one of the new Sun X2200 M2 servers for a
week or so, aiming to check out the status of HVM support on these machines.
The machine was a dual-Opteron dual-core, with 8GB RAM and 1 300GB SATA
disk.
Normally I tend to use Debian on my servers, but due to lack of needed
hardware support on Debian x86_64 images, and because I had very few
time to run the tests, I used an

No Full Virtualisation with Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 Mobile CPU?
Hello,
I have some interesting issue with Intel VT CPU and XEN 3.0.2:
I''m running XEN 3.0.2 on a MSI Fuzzy 945GM2 Mainboard
(http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/ic/ic_detail.php?prod_no=4) with
a Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile CPU (T5500).
When booting the mainboard BIOS says it found a EM64T CPU, which is
AFAIK the code for a Intel CPU with Virtualisation Technologie.
But whether Linux

vmplayer for linux 12.5.7 on CentOS 7.4
So after the update to CentOS 7.4 vmplayer 12.5.7 is no longer working.
I can't believe after all the time that RHEL 7.4 has been released and
VMware has not fixed the issue and made a new release.
What is everyone doing that used the vmplayer on linux?
Thanks,
Jerry

Success : clang/LLVM-built host kernel and clang-built VMware kernel modules for VMware Player 14.1.1 on host Ubuntu 17.10 x86_64
Hello All,
As part of my clang/LLVM experiments and explorations with different
clang-built kernel versions, I have tried to bring up other Linux/Ubuntu
applications with their kernel modules also being clang-built. One such
case has been with VMware Player 14.1.1. I am sharing this report for
interested people that highlights my research and success in overcoming and
solving the challenges in

VNC into CentOS 7.4
When I VNC into 7.4 everything is fine until I run vmplayer (VMware).
The vmplayer runs but when I type on the console for vmplayer which is also
running a centos image I get multiple key presses - sometimes. Its not
everytime - but enough to be annoying.
How do I take care of that ?

C 5.2 and VMWAre error
A colleague has a newly built 64-bit CentOS 5.0 system that, through yum
updates, has become CentOS 5.2. VMWare Workstation and Player work fine
for my account on it. But a recent configuration of something under
their account has produced:

Libvirt daemon is not getting started
Hi,
Earlier I was having libvirt-0.7.5 but now I have installed 0.9.8 version
of libvirt now.
I am trying to start libvirt daemon using the command below but daemon it
is not getting started and the PID file is not getting created. Tried
/usr/loval/sbin/libvirtd -d option too. In that case I am not getting any
error but PID file is not getting created in this case too.

Bug#402249: Stable API now?
Hello,
I'm also interested on libvirt and was going to produce the patch for
libxen when I noticed this bug.
Bastian, I'd like to know if you could do it now since 3.1 has release
the 1.0 version of API and then it looks now these changes has calm
down a bit.
Can you merge Anibal's patch?

Vmware - Slightly off topic
Hi All,
What is the correct way to provide a CentOS 7 - WMware image for ESX ?
As an amateur to VMware - I thought - great I can get VMplayer and ESX
should be able to import my image... Wrong... I even went through the
trouble of "converting" to VMWare workstation and thinking ESX could import
that - Apparently still Wrong... I cannot for the life of me understand

Guarddog, Samba, Win98
Using Samba on Kubuntu Breezy, and Win98 on a virtual PC
(VMPlayer). Everything works fine, except:
When the firewall (iptables via GuardDog) is activated, I don't
get any access from Win98 to my Linux shares - neither by
ping nor by "connecting network-drive" - even if I allow everything
that can be allowed within GuardDog (although this should have
the same effects like

vmplayer for linux 12.5.7 on CentOS 7.4 (Jerry Geis)
The answer is to recompile the source tarball with a patch which appeared
at:
https://communities.vmware.com/message/2686431?tstart=0#2686431
generously provided by https://communities.vmware.com/people/dariusd .
Tried it and it works swimmingly.

VM disk question
I have VMPlayer 12 running a CentOS 7 disk. Works fine.
However I wish to change the disk from UUID booting (fstab) to the old
style LABEL.
(so I can export it and use on another machine).
fdisk -l /dev/sda
Disk /dev/sda: 21.5 GB, 21474836480 bytes, 41943040 sectors
Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes
