Freenas domU network performance issue
Hi guys, I''m running a freenas domU (FreeBSD 8.3 based, ZFS v28, 2 vcpus mapped to the same HT capable core) to serve storage for all purpose including other domUs running on the same host. I did some study to understand how well it works and the result is kind of confusing. In summary, the network performance between domains on the same host is worse than expected. And NFS service to

domU to domU configuration
Was setting up 2 domUs on the same xen machine. Is there any benefit in using the same bridge vs. two separate bridges (one for each domU) incases where we are interested in only domU-domU network traffic? What will be the preferred configuration? thanks in advance, harish _______________________________________________ Xen-devel mailing list Xen-devel@lists.xensource.com

xentop CPU% wrong?
Hello, I noticed that the CPU% reported by xentop appears to be too high. With dom0 idle xentop is reporting between 14-17% CPU utilization while at the same time top in dom0 is reporting 1-4% CPU utilization. I see that the TODO for xentop includes a task to make CPU% more accurate but looking at the code for xentop and libxenstat I''m not sure how to go about this. Assuming the CPU

GPLPV drivers suspected to hinder live migration to different CPU type
Hi, I''ve noticed that on a Xen cluster with three nodes (two E5620 CPUs and one E5140 CPU) live migration works perfectly in between to two E5620 nodes, but fails to and from the E5140. The error message is about a HVM context not being able to be set. I strongly suspect the use 238 GPPVL drivers, but I cannot uninstall them at this point because someone else needs the server. Could

Please help: domU becomes unresponsive
Hi all, sorry to intrude on xen-devel, but I think I need direction from the expertise here. I''ve admin''d Xen servers of various flavors for a couple years, but never seen this before. After a period ranging from several hours to several days, my primary database and development DomU completely locks up. Net disconnects, but CPU(sec) continues to tick in xentop. No errors, and

RHEL5 & Xen 3.2.1; Not creating tap0 in dom0 for domU''s
Hi All, I have a weird issue I''m not sure how to solve.  I''ve got Xen 3.2.1 working under RHEL 5.2 x86_64 just fine.  I fired off a CentOS 5.2 PV install and everything went smoothly... except that when I fire up the PV, the tap0 for bridging isn''t being created.  This results in the CentOS 5.2 domU''s bridged eth0 only being able to ping the RHEL5

Nagios Monitoring with xentop
I am creating some custom nagios plugins and I am scraping data from xen using the nagios command: /usr/sbin/xentop -b -i 2 -d1 I am trying to get the network tx / rx data, however I think I am missing something here. NETTX(k) NETRX(k) So total network bandwidth is 1048576 k if the above header from xentop is true. So I am wondering why the output for each vm exceeds the theoretical max, Is

Activity logger for Xen Guest Domains using libvirt
Hi all, Wondering if anyone knows of any tools I can run on my Dom0 to log various stats (like CPU usage, memory usage, etc) for each guest domain for analysis over a period of time? I can see that xentop displays that information anyway but would be nice to be able to present that information on a web based interface for day to day administration. Also any tools that send out email
