CentOS 5.2 nVidia GeForce 7300GS resolution problem
I have a Gigabyte nVidia GeForce 7300GS on an Intel DG965WHMKR mobo attached to an LG Flatron LG204WT widescreen monitor. I'm driving the monitor at 1680*1050, and the picture is compressed into the right-hand two-thirds of the screen. The monitor is OK as it's attached via a KVM switch to another machine - also with an nVidia card - and it displays perfectly on that. It looks like some

VMWare vs Parallels, and Zen
I've seen several references to running VMWare under CentOS, but does anybody know how well Parallels runs under CentOS? On a related note, now that Zen is as mature as it is, are commercial VMs really much better than Zen? Miark

Zen arch in 5.0?
Will 5.0 have scheduler, reg alloc etc. bits for explicit support of AMD's 1st gen Zen (Ryzen, Epyc) arch? Is it safe to assume that the changes for Zen's 2nd gen will land prior to the hardware release, once the 1st gen is added? I think zen2 will arrive next year.

OT? Creative Zen player not registering as a USB device
I plugged my son's new (Christmas) Zen V player into my CentOS 5.1 box and it doesn't register as a device that the system can see or mount. If I lsusb, it shows up as bus 2, device 8, but there is no corresponding /dev/??? device for it, so the system can't get at it. (I tried my flash drive in the same USB port and it works fine, so it's not the hardware.) How do I get around

Slightly OT: Creative Zen not showing up when plugged in - what to do
I installed the 0.2.5 version of libmtp, ran the hotplug.sh script (which has a bug in it, but it's only for "old" hotplug support), the player shows up in lsusb, BUT gnomad2 can't seem to find it. What am I missing? Thanks. mhr -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

X server crashes when I fire up "Display" or "Screen Resolution" control panels
Hi. I've just installed CentOS 5.4 on my IBM T61 laptop. By default, I get the same image (duplicate screens) on the laptop's LCD and on the external monitor; I want to set up separate screens but my X server crashes when I start "Display" or "Screen Resolution" control panels or press Function-F7 which is supposed to bring up the single screen/ multiple screens

SuSE Winbind "Zen" Question with Samba 3.0.4
OK, I fixed all of my winbind problems (I think), but I'm not sure the outcome is optimal, so I'm looking for advice and counsel at more of a philosophical level, rather than a pure technical level. I would be grateful for comments on the following setup: ::Background:: SuSE 9.0, Samba 3.0.4-5 rpms from ftp.sernet.de (quasi-official SuSE rpms, as I understand it). The machine is

New problem with winxp
Just installed winxp in HVM under Suse 10.2. Now, I cannot access the CDROM drive even though it worked fine during the installation. Windows exploer show it as D drive, but when I put in a data CDROM, it keeps asking to install cdrom. Device manager shows the CDROM as QEMMU CDROM drive. Any suggestions? Wine and multiple X screens at different resolutions
Hello! I am a great fan of wine, and find it gets better every day. However, there is one problem that is almost make or break for me that I wonder is something just on my end or a genuine bug. I represent a small subset of wine users: those who have two LCD screens at different aspect ratios. I have a 20 inch 4:3 LCD at 1280x1024 and a 22 widescreen LCD at 1680x1050. Through Nvidia's control
