Using physical disk in HVM
Hi, guys.
I''m trying to use physical disks as virtual disks in HVM domains.
But I couldn''t.
I''m using cs10508 of xen-unstable.hg.
When I use
disk = [ ''phy:sda5,ioemu:hda,w'' ]
in conf file, creating HVM domain says, I need to use ''file'' modifier if
I use ''ioemu''.
So, I changed it to
disk = [

Xen HVM and tap:aio
Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone out there is doing tap:aio disk devices on a Xen HVM
vm with any success. Please let me know if you are, and perhaps your
version info and a config file snippet.
I've posted this to the xen-users list, and what I'm trying to do seems to
be correct, works on Ubuntu, Debian, and XenSource; but it doesn't work on
CentOS.
Here's the snippet from my

gplpv driver correctly supports 9GB RAM in Windows 32bit?
Hello
I have Debian Linux 2.6.32-5-xen-amd64 Xen 4.0.1, 2 SAS drives in
RAID 1, 16GB ram.
I have virtualized Windows 2003R2 32bit where you install the
latest version 0.11.0.295 gplpv
After reading and reading forums and post testing, I noticed that the
hard disk performance drops significantly when I assign the windows
domU 9GB ram. (below I leave the config files)

XEN 3.4.1|HVM|physical disk access
Hello folks,
i do not get access to a physical disk with xen. I would like to install
windows xp as hvm to the physical partition /dev/sdb1.
I partioned the disk with cfdisk. Filesystem type is Linux (83). In my
eyes the filesystem using hvm is insignificant(?).
I tried the following configurations; probably a lot more than this.
#disk = [ ''phy:hda1,hda1,r'' ] (comment from

Connect to Xen console
hi,
I''m new on this list and i need help from experienced users to give
andswer for some questions.
I sen up a dom0 (debian) and would like it to be very minimalist, just
xen tools, some gnu utils and other usefull utilities. This dom0 will
be used to virtualize many hvm OS like windows and some other *nix
paravirtualized. Till there are no problem to view/connect to console

[PATCH] chain.c32: add support for booting the Recovery Console of Windows NT/2K/XP
The following patch for chain.c32 adds support to boot the Recovery Console of Windows NT/2K/XP.
Normally when you want to boot the recovery console, you need to patch "cmdcons\0" into the
bootsectorof the partition (8 bytes starting at 0x3 (4th byte)).
We can do this patching in memory:
strcpy((char *) 0x7c03, "cmdcons");
To boot the recovery console with chain.c32:

Reply for the windows virtualization (Ko0nz) Xen-users Digest, Vol 27, Issue 110
Hi koonz
I noticed that you are using the cdrom parameter in the config file I
believe that''s no longer used in recent versions of Xen. I am running
debian etch here atm and am trying to virtualize windows guests aswell
I am able to boot up windows with the following configs although they do
tend to hang at some point during the installation.

Wine and /home partition woes on Gentoo/amd64
I apologize if the question has been posed before, but I did not find any similar posts by browsing or searching through the forums. Here it goes:
I have been using Gentoo Linux for a year now, and never have I had a problem I couldn't solve. However, not long ago I bought a 1 TB hard disk which I divided into 7 partitions: /boot, (swap), /, /var, /tmp, /usr and /home (yes, that's FreeBSD

black screen when booting ubuntu cd in hvm
Hi folks,
i have a problem to boot an Ubuntu CD in a hvm-enabled machine. I
get a black screen when connecting via vnc to the virtual machine.
When i change the line cdrom= to some other CD (grml Live CD,
Windows CD, other ones) it runs fine. But any Ubuntu CD (kubuntu
alternative, ubuntu server, ubuntu desktop) i get the mentioned
error.
I tried using sdl (no window opens) and with

Harddisk support not working
Hi!
after experimenting for days with xen I was finally able to narrow down
why my xen setup is not working properly. When I add a harddisk to the
guest system the guest system slows down so much that it becomes
impossible to boot. In my hvm testsystem the guest system is a knoppix
cd. When booting from the cd without having a harddisk in the guest
system everything works perfectly. But as soon

WinXp physical to virtual problem: stuck at "Booting from hard disk"
Dear xen users,
I''m trying to convert a physical WindowsXp pro machine into a Xen HVM domU.
I used VMWare standalone converter 4 to create a vmdk disk and qemu to
convert such disk to a raw file disk.
Unfotunately I''m still unable to run my converted domU:
when i start the VM the virtual disk is correctly detected (also the
dimension is detected),
but the VM freeze on the
