Synaptics touchpad and slow xen boot...
I did it! By disabling acpi and apic i got Xen 3.0.2 booted... now, next step is resolving other problems, because when the kernel loads i got many errors when touchpad drivers are loaded (Synaptics). It seemd the system has hanged but if i still wait 5 minutes, the system continues loading. When doing init scripts (very, very, very slowly) pci_hotplug fails (after 5 minutes) and i got the system

Downloading a .csv through a .jsp url with variable parameters - R code or package?
Dear R experts, I'm trying to download a .csv file with daily data on the companies through a javascript url ending in .jsp of the following form: http://....... .com/.../.../filename.jsp?y=2004&m=3&d=9 where y = year, m = month and d=day. Accessing the link gives you the .csv for that date. I want to download the whole time series day by day say from y = 2000 to 2010 into an R

[newbie] how to find and combine geographic maps with particular features?
SUMMARY: Specific problem: I'm regridding biomass-burning emissions from a global/unprojected inventory to a regional projection (LCC over North America). I need to have boundaries for Canada, Mexico, and US (including US states), but also Caribbean and Atlantic nations (notably the Bahamas). I would also like to add Canadian provinces and Mexican states. How to put these together? General

decorating API in R
How best to implement a decorator pattern in R? What I mean, why I ask: A group of ncdf4 users is trying to make it easier (notably for ourselves :-) to write correctly IOAPI-formatted netCDF. Since IOAPI http://www.baronams.com/products/ioapi/ decorates netCDF, one obvious way to do a package=ioapi is to decorate the netCDF API from package=ncdf4. E.g., to add a data variable (datavar) with

[fields:image.plot] subtitle under title (not image)?
summary: how to make image.plot print a subtitle between the title and the image, rather than under the image? details: I've got a project https://github.com/TomRoche/ioapi-hack-R that illustrates the use of (et al) the R packages {ncdf4, fields, M3} for processing and visualizing IOAPI data. The data being visualized consists of a series of layers (mostly representing emissions from a

Bug#795330: Suggests noapic but doesn't support it
Package: xen-hypervisor-4.5-amd64 Severity: normal Hi, when running xen inside of kvm the hypervisor fails to set up the proper IRQ routing and suggests to use noapic. If you add this via GRUB_CMDLINE_XEN_DEFAULT it will boot futher but then report that noapic isn't supported. So please make Xen not claim to support noapic if it doesn't (the issue was finally resolved by removeing

Boot problem with Debian Squeeza and Xen
Hi all, I just upgraded my Debian/Etch with Xen3.3 machine to Debian/Squeeze Xen4.0 and now have problems with starting the Dom0 kernel. I always get the error message: Kernel panic not syncing: the kernel parameter noapic is incompatible with xen. My grub.cfg is: menuentry ''Debian GNU/Linux, with Linux 2.6.32-5-xen-686 and XEN 4.0-i386'' --cl$ insmod part_msdos

Sun Fire X4200 M2 / CentOS 5 APIC issues
I had been running CentOS 5 happily on my Sun Fire X4200 M2 systems, then I upgraded the BIOS and iLOM firmware. Now I'm running into what seems to be a fairly common problem with newer motherboards. I cannot boot unless I use the 'noapic' kernel option. If I try to boot the kernel normally, I get the error: "MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC" I can

Xen without APIC
Hi, I am trying to boot Xen on top of a simulator. I am having problems with the APIC module in my simulator, not related to Xen. So, I want to boot Xen without APIC support. Is there a way to disable APIC support in Xen? I am fine even Xen is restricted to uni-processor environment. Thanks, Bhaskar _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list

Why noapic acpi=off on new Centos 4.6 system?
I just installed CentOS 4.6 (because I had 4.6 media handy) on a new system, which has a SuperMicro PDSMi mobo with an E4600 CPU. I then did yum update to get to 4.7, although I don't think that's relevant to my query. I wondered why "shutdown -h" would not power down the system. I then also discovered that the soft power button did not initiate a switch to runlevel 0 to do a

pagecache corruption on Tyan S3870
A couple of months ago I reported some problems with a batch of Tyan K8SSA (S3870) based machines. We are continuing to have an odd problem with these boxes, and if anyone has seen something similar elsewhere, I'd appreciate hearing about it. These boxes are running Centos 4.4 x86_64 with kernel 2.6.9-42.0.3.ELsmp. They are dual Opteron 265's (dual core) with 4x2GB DIMM's. The

Boot/init problem with IBM Netfinity 4500
I hope the CentOS people don't mind me cross-posting for their input. I've just done a clean, text-mode minimal WBEL4 install on an IBM Netfinity 4500, essentially the same hardware as an xSeries 340. The install went fine but now the box will boot, run through the initrd init sequence, perform its switchroot then hang here... SELinux: Initializing. SELinux: Starting in permissive mode

Got some solutions myself. LAG is caused by : NETDEV WATCHDOG eth0 timeout this is caused bacause of problems with rtl8139 network card in kernel 2.6.x Solutions : 1.add in lilo.conf : append="noapic" 2.turn apic off in bios 3.if u have 2 rtl8139 cards, then exchange one with some other card type (chipset) btw. all above was found in various polish forums, but none has worked for

System hangs at "Rebooting System" on VIA KM400 chipsets
Hello, We have a number of systems running KM400 chipsets from VIA (Socket A/462). Two different models have produced the same results -- DFI KM400-MLV and MSI KM4M-V. When a /sbin/reboot or /sbin/shutdown -r now is issued, the system does everything you would expect from a reboot, but when it gets to Rebooting System, it hangs and requires a power cycle. The logs do not indicate anything
