Deployment Suggestions
Did a quick search, but didn''t come up with anything definitive. So what does everyone think is the best low maintenance and most hassle free way to go for deployment? Is lighttpd still everyone''s choice? I remember seeing one that was a pre-packaged environment with apache I think. Anyway, just about to deploy an app and thought I''d ask suggestions - want to see

rbind.data.frame reacts on levels without factor (PR#9578)
Full_Name: Lutz Prechelt Version: 2.4.1 OS: Windows XP Submission from: (NULL) (160.45.111.67) I stack a number of data.frames using rbind. Each of these dataframes has a column 'authorname', which is a factor and a column author = unclass(authorname) as piecewise pseudonyms. When using rbind to stack these dataframes, R warns about invalid factor levels and inserts all NAs in the author

TextDrive complaints
Hi all, I have deployed my Ruby On Rails application on TextDrive. At first everything seamed to be fine. However, lately, response time of my application is incredible slow. Worse, lately there is also a lot of downtime. I have contacted their support desk, however, they do not respond (at all, or very, very late). Has anyone else these experiences with TextDrive? And if so, what did you do

Goodbye for now, RoR
I started a php-based website a few months ago with a buddy of mine on netfirms.com. I was perusing their knowledge base and I came upon a quick-start for something called Ruby on Rails. Since then I have immersed myself in RoR. I''ve done the tutorials, I''ve purchased the books. But, I could never get even a sample RoR app to work on netfirms. 500 server errors.

Thank you all for your overwhelming response !!!
Thank you all for your overwhelming response !!! The site has awarded me and my downline an oppourtunity to make 27 US Dollars (20$ + 6$ + 1$) right after the registration is done. So, in addition to 6$ opening Survey, you all have 5 more 4$ surveys totalling to an amount of 20$ and one more March special survey for 1$ (which will also make you eligible for a lucky draw of 500$ -- Try your luck).

deploying with capistrano - web site responds much faster
Hi, just out of curiosity: I have a RoR website, and till now I used to deploy it by hand. Now I''ve deployed it automatically, and after this the web site response is much faster. I don''t know if capistrano did something else too, though the speed of how the site runs has increased a lot. there is another thing though: I''m using a shared account on textdrive, and there

Off-topic: Rails hosting
All, I''ve been looking switching hosting providers, and have been strongly considering TextDrive. Doing a little Googling turns up a fair number of complaints that seem to be centered around server performance, stability and uptime. Since I know a poorly written app can contribute to all of these, I thought I''d pose the question to all of you. Does anyone here host
