How vifX.Y and eth talk on dom0 with NAT configuration?
Hi, in the official XenNetworking ( http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/XenNetworking ) i didn''t find reported how the NAT configuration works with xen. Does anybody know how the vifX.Y (10.X.X.128), gateway of any domU ethX (10.X.X.1) talk with the real ethX of the dom0? 802.1q on gentoo
Hi, I have a box with XEN enabled. Specs : Gentoo 10.0 AMD64 XEN 4.0.0 The server is connected on our network through two physicals NIC. Actually, I''m using a VLAN on each NIC and bridge the domU in it. But now I must create an additional domU which should be in an different VLAN. The best solution is to set a trunk on the switch and use 802.1q directly on the dom0. I found this site

insight on additional adapter
Good day all, Can anyone give me some insight on the most practical way of adding a second interface to a dom0 so that certain domu''s have visibility into another network? I basically have one domu that needs to pass internet data through eth1 - i''ve been reading the following http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/XenNetworking#head-602e26cd4a03b992f3938fe1bea03fa0fea0ed8b and

Xen network problems on domU shutdown
Hi, I''m new to XEN and have the following Problem: If I shutdown my domU the network of the dom0 leaks. A ping from another server to my xen dom0 shows a Packetloss > 80%. Then if I restart the domU after some seconds the ping show a loss from 0%. I retryed that 3 times but it is really hard to go to the dom0 via ssh and recreate the domU if the packetloss is that high. I used google

Multiple Bridges and Multiple physical nic''s
Hello, I was following the steps on creating a new bridge and attaching a physical nic to it. ******Steps mentioned in http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/XenNetworking#head-d5446face7e308f577e5aee1c72cf9d156903722 ***************** if you want to use multiple bridges, you must create them yourself, either manually, or via your own startup script, or via a custom script to replace network-bridge.

Port forwarding from non-xenbridged external interface to xen-interface
Hello everybody, I have an odd problem with iptables using a Xen bridge setup. I don''t know if it would be better to post to netfilter Mailing-List. But I hope someone here know how to solve it. If it''s OT here, please let me know. I''ll try to do a little bit ASCII-Graphics to explain the topo better: _________ ________

Veth0 missing
Hi, I''m using RHEL linux 5.1, I can''t add the another NIC to my virtual machine. # /etc/xen/scripts/network-bridge start Link veth0 is missing. This may be because you have reached the limit of the number of interfaces that the loopback driver supports. If the loopback driver is a module, you may raise this limit by passing it as a parameter (nloopbacks=<N>); if the

Xen bridge + iptables FORWARD
Hi all, I have Xen 3.2 newly installed on Lenny with network bridging configured. When I built my first VM, I found it couldn''t connect to the Internet. This turned out to be because my dom0''s iptables was configured to DROP all packets on the FORWARD chain (when I removed that, it started working). The "Xen Networking" page on the wiki describes this exact situation

dom0 iptables FORWARD default DROP?
Hello, What is the best policy for the FORWARD chain in dom0 iptables? Can I use a default DROP policy? I notice when domains are created it adds the extra rules to the FORWARD chain, to allow traffic to the guests. However, if iptables is restarted, all these rules are lost. Do I need a rule per VPS, or can I use a single catch all to handle all of them?

diagram correction for Xen Networking with vlan on bonding
I think the diagram here: http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/XenNetworking#line-474 should be more like this: http://pastebin.com/cjxbXrJW I''ve asked Stephen for edit rights on the wiki but wanted to ask for confirmation before editing it. Notes: The connections at the top are switch ports bond1 has eth2 and eth3 eth0 maps to bond0.100 and eth1 maps to bond1.200

Ext3 corruption using cluster
Hello all, I've a cluster with an oracle database. The shared filesystem is provided from a SAN and there's LVM and ext3 fs. I've experienced some problem. During a normal switch of my cluster remounting FS on second node gave me problem. FS is corrupted. During a normal switch, operations done are: - oracle shutdown abort - oracle listernet shutdown - umount fs (using umount -l )

what the H is this virbr0?
Hi, I just tested in the lab the new CentOS 5.1 Xen and find out it breaks network connectivity, at least in my setup. It seems it is somehow making use of the 3.1 Xen version (altought I am not sure about that) but whatever changes it introduce is not documented at the location one would expect, the obvious new thing (at least for me) is this thing I will call out of guessing a virtual

RE: RE: VLAN and BRIDGE HELP
You are very welcome. One thing that I am working on now involves removing the step toward the beginning: xe pif-reconfigure-ip uuid=<UUID of the bond created above> mode=static gateway=<GATEWAY> IP=<IP ADDRESS> netmask=<NETMASK> DNS=<DNS SERVER ADDRESS> I do not believe that this step is necessary since we will not use the pif directly. We will use

Xen "bridged" networking config
I've got a Centos guest and a Windows 2003 server guest running in Xen under Centos (5.2 in both cases), and they can get out to the network, and I can ping them from dom0. This is my first Xen install, and I haven't used Linux as a router before (I'm very familiar with it as a webserver and development platform) so I'm a bit weak on the bridging code and NAT / IP masquerading.

Xen 4.1.0, multiple network interfaces, network-bridge failing to create multiple bridges
Hi *, having built Xen 4.1.0 and running my Dom0 on Slackware 13.1, I''m trying to assign different physical network interfaces to different DomU guests: vif = [ ''bridge=ethX'' ] in the DomU configuration files. My /etc/xen/scripts/network-bridge script, however, doesn''t create more than one bridge: root@cen:~# /etc/xen/scripts/network-bridge start

RE: RE: VLAN and BRIDGE HELP
While I am still in the process of working through this here are the steps I am taking to set up each machine. 1) Since each of my servers have multiple NIC ports I bond them together (see page 34 of the Administrators Guide) first. This is best down from the physical server and not via the remote console. If you do it remotely you will then have to reconfigure the management port before
