FC5 -- Xen 3.0.2 -- iptables with dom0 and domU
Situation: Running a simple UDP client/server program where the client on one domU on one computer sends echo packets to another domU on another computer, server sends echoes back. They do this on a specified port (will use any port between 5000-6000). This program works on non-Xen machines in various environments, Linux and Solaris. Program just hangs on the domUs. Can see Linux box, but no shares from windows
Can anyone provide me a few suggestions? I installed Redhat 8.0 on my laptop. XP Pro on my windows box. I am using Samba/SWAT at the moment as well. I have the basic smb.conf that I took from the example folder and made no changes except opening the public share. (unfortunately I am at work so I cant show exactly what I have). I also added the workgroup = line under [global] and added my

problem building openssh-4.3p2 on Fedora Core 5 using gcc -std=c99
This problem actually came up with pdftex-1.40, which now uses the openbsd-compat code. I routinely build pdftex with c99 to reduce reliance on old gcc extensions, in the hope that things will be more consistent across linux and unix. I think the problem is that the way configure checks for strsep leaves things open for a #def'd version to conflict with the replacement version. I'm

installing the x86_64 R Binary on Fedora Core 5
I am looking for help install the x86_64 R Binary onto my FC5 machine. At the risk of subjecting myself to tons of criticism, I must confess that I don't know anything about Linux and I have never compiled R from source. Therefore, I choose FC5 because I see that a 64-bit binary is already available. Here is what I tried: I installed FC5 with all options (productivity, software development,

Fedora Core 5 and Windows 98
Greetings All, My problem is trying to mount an SMB share from Fedora Core5 to a Windows 98 Machine. Before upgrading from FC4 to FC5 everything worked. I have searched around and it appears that the smbmount and mount -t smbfs options have been deprecated in Samba 3.0.22-1 in favor of CIFS. The command I have been trying now is: mount -t cifs //192.168.0.126/laptop /mnt/share -o username=chime

Master of Orion 2 hangs when run in Wine 0.9.17 under Fedora Core 5
I recently installed Fedora Cora 5 (2.6.17-1.2157_FC5) on my PC, and then installed Wine (0.9.17) from the Fedora yum repository. I then installed Master of Orion II, and tried to run it. It started OK, but as soon as I moved the mouse, it seemed to hang. My keyboard and mouse stopped working, and the only way I could break out was to hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and log out. I tried this repeatedly, and

Bug in kernel-space samba client (3.0.23a) on FC5 (2.6.17-1.2157_FC5)
On a client running FC5 with all packages updated from yum (running samba 3.0.23a-1.fc5.1 and the 2.6.17-1.2157_FC5 linux kernel), I cannot access multiple samba shares that have share-level security using cifs. 0. To reproduce, use a server that serves two shares with share-level security. Make sure the shares have different passwords. 1. Using the standard mount command and specifying cifs

newhidups failing with Nova 1100 on FC5
I have been testing out my new MGE Nova 1100 on a system (dual Athlon) running Fedora Core 5 and the newhidups driver seems to be regularly dying. The UPS is the USB model, I have nut-2.0.3-0.1.fc5 and nut-cgi-2.0.3-0.1.fc5 installed. I am running a 2.6.16 kernel. (I haven't upgraded to FC5's 2.6.17 kernel yet as there seem to be some complaints about it.) The driver initially works.

Valid Users setting causing crash
Hey list, Having a strange issue on a new File server. This system is running the 64-bit version of Fedora 5 running kernel 2.6.20-1.2300.fc5 and version 3.0.24-1.fc5 of Samba. This system is functioning as a backup to a primary system that is configured the same way. Same OS, hardware, etc. After moving data over and setting up the users and groups, I moved over the smb.conf file as well. In

BAD SIG[nature] errors from XP client
Greetings, I've set up a Samba 3.0.23a PDC on Fedora Core 5 and joined a couple XP clients to the domain successfully. However, when I start using the Samba PDC's "homes" share from the XP client, I eventually get errors such as the following: [2006/08/05 03:28:07, 0] libsmb/smb_signing.c:srv_check_incoming_message(657) srv_check_incoming_message: BAD SIG: seq 798 wanted
