bridging and peth0
Hi,
If one sets xend to use network-bridge and there are no bridges
already present then it seems that xend will clone eth0 to peth0,
create xenbr0 and add peth0 and vif0.0 as ports on that bridge.
If on the other hand xenbr0 is created in /etc/network/interfaces
then xend will not do any of that peth0 stuff, nor will it add
vif0.0 to xenbr0, yet (barring some changes in iptables rules)

Re: annoying network problem
Hi,
I have a problem with networking under XEN, I hope someone can help me
out. The problem is that after some time (a day or so) the network
suddenly stops working, and it takes some waiting and/or a reboot to fix
this.
I''m running XEN 3.1.0-rc7 on an Intel Core2 (x86_64). It''s a Fedora 8
system, with the following packages:

Virtual network interfaces not being created?
Hi there!
I''m having some trouble getting networking going with Xen. When I
first boot into the Xen kernel, I have two network interfaces (lo and
eth0), both of which are configured correctly. When I start xend,
peth0, vif0.0, and xenbr0 are added to the list. So far so good.
When I actually instantiate a domain, no new vif entries are added to
the list. If I try to bring up the

errors when xend starts
When starting xend i see the following errors on the console. I''m
running CentOS 5 as the operating system with kernel 2.6.32.18 from
4.0.1''s `make prep-kernels`
Below is a log, the things i''m concerned with is the XENBUS errors and
the deprecated iptables stuff. Any ideas whats going on here?

RHEL 5 - Multiple Bridges with same Hardware Address
I am writing this email in the hopes of getting some advice from Xen users.
My
main concern is performance and stability. Before I get any further, let me
explain the environment:
1. I am using redhat enterprise linux 5 with the xen kernel
(2.6.18-8.1.1.el5xen). This is on a Sun X4200 with two dual core AMD
processors, 16Gb of RAM, a Sun StoredgeTek 3320 attached to the

Using network-script with Xen 4.4.1 (aka what will I do without xend?)
I have seen those documents, I did not see anything that indicates how
_automatic_ bridge configuration could be enabled with xl.
For my specific set up I have two bridges (xenbr0 -> peth0 & xenbr1 ->
peth1). If I have to configure this manually with ifcfg scripts I will,
but if an automatic method is provided or is possible with xl I'd prefer to
use that.

Query - Issue creating VMs when not using bridge that Xen created, but using ovswitch.
*Hello,*
I have installed Xen as Hypervisor with OpenSUSE running in Dom0. I want to
use ovswitch (ovs) instead of the bridges that Xen created. In order to do
so, I installed ovs in dom0 just like for the plain Linux.
Xen has replaced eth0 with peth0, and has created a bridge named eth0. And
eth0 is connected peth0 interface , vif2.0 interface (VM), and everything
is working fine. Now I delete

"Exception starting xend ((2, ''No such file or directory''))" - what file?
Hi all, I can''t get xend to start and could do with some help.
this is the stock 30.2 release. it was working fine on ubuntu breezy,
and since I''ve updated to dapper it''s boned...
The odd thing is, if I run the installer, I can start xend ok. but when
I reboot it''s broken again.
I''m guessing a directory is being deleted by ubuntu at reboot time -

Device 0 (vif) could not be connected. Hotplug scripts not working.
Hi,
I got this error when starting a domU on Centos 5.1 i386,
Device 0 (vif) could not be connected. Hotplug scripts not working.
Why is this happening ? I should restart the machine to see if this
still happends after a fresh network bridge. But it's somehow a
production server, I would like not to restart it, if possible. No domU
is currently running. I could start domUs a week ago.

I get this error when I do try to create a domU guest (xen 3.0.0, 2.6.12.6).
