HVM + IGD Graphics + 4GB RAM = Soft Lockup
I''m having an issue forwarding through an Intel on-board graphics
adapter. This is on a Dell Optiplex 780 with 8GB of RAM. The
pass-through works perfectly fine if I have 2GB of RAM assigned to the
HVM domU. If I try to assign 3GB or 4GB of RAM, I get the following on
the console:
[ 41.222073] br0: port 2(vif1.0) entering forwarding state

Network issue with vif-route method
Hello folks,
I used to work with bridging for my xen networks, but my very last hosting
provider doesn''t support multiple mac address on the switch port.
So I''m trying to configure some virtual servers on xen 3.2.1 using the
network-route and vif-route method instead of bridge.
Everything works well, on the virtual server except the network.
In the VM definition file, I have :

[Xense-devel] [RFC][PATCH][ACM] enforcing ACM policy on network traffic between virtual network interfaces
This patch adds an ACM hook into the network scripts (/etc/xen/scripts).
It adds iptables rules that enforce mandatory access control on network
packets exchanged between virtual interfaces. If ACM is active, this
patch sets the default FORWARD policy in Dom0 to DROP and adds iptables
ACCEPT rules between vifs that belong to domains that are permitted to
share (determined by using the

What's wrong with these mail headers?
When moderating this message just now I forwarded it to
r-help-owner, for discussion.
In reply to Roy's question, there is indeed nothing obvious
which should "match a filter rule". However, the ETHZ spam
filter is somewhat sensitive about gmail, regardless of true
content, and there are 4 occurrences of "gmail.com", which
may have been responsible for it.

xen2.0 stable periodic machine freeze
Hello,
I have a Dell PowerEdge 2850 that periodically (6 times in the last 24
hours) freezes, requiring a power cycle in order to come back.
The machine is running a Xen 2.0 stable source install. Here is the
appropriate Grub entry:
title Xen 2.0 / XenLinux 2.6
kernel /boot/xen-2.0.gz dom0_mem=131072
module /boot/vmlinuz-2.6-xen0 root=/dev/sda1 ro console=tty0
Dom0 boots happily, and new

vif-bridge
All works fine on my virtual hosts, except the network.
The internal interface is created (have an ip address), the external
bridge is ok,
with the external vif1.0 for the virtual host, but `ping
virtual_host_address` dont
work.
Ok, I try to put on vif1.0 an ip address. When I do an `ifconfig
vif1.0 127.1.2.3`
the network works fine, `ping virtual_host_address` works and all machines from

DomU networking problem in opensuse 11
Hi,
Creating a new domain is a lot easier in opensuse 11. I follow the instruction on the website and build a virtual machine which uses opensuse 11 as well (I installed it from iso image). Everything works fine except the network. I cannot access the Internet from DomU. Here is some information.
P.S. the DomU id is 1.

[SPAM] Xen bridge network issue
Hi,
I have taken the long and winding road and indeed it lead me to your door. I
need your help, please.
My Xen includes 2 guests. Xen itself (10.2.0.52) gets free access to the
outside world and to its guests.
Both guests however (10.2.0.54/10.2.0.55) see each other but stay under
house arrest!
Not a single ping manages to go past the bridge (xenbr0) and get an answer
from the default gateway

Bug#702337: xen-xapi / Open vSwitch not really working
Package: xcp-xapi
Version: 1.3.2-14
Severity: important
I chose the Open vSwitch (ovs) networking mode when I installed XCP
# cat /etc/xcp/network.conf
openvswitch
Whenever I boot a VM, I notice that the vif interface is created (e.g.
vif1.0) on dom0, and the vif is added to the ovs bridge (I can see it in
the output of ovs-vsctl show)
However, there is no connectivity, I can't ping the

network traffic can''t be seen by iptables when no bridge presents
In my project, I tried to use iptables, instead of bridge, to direct
networking traffics from one VM to another in one host. What I am doing is
I delete xen-br0, and I have two VMs that have IP addresses of 10.8.0.51
and 10.8.0.52. I use
iptables -t mangle -A FORWARD -d 10.8.0.51 -j ROUTE --oif vif1.0
iptables -t mangle -A FORWARD -d 10.8.0.52 -j ROUTE --oif vif2.0
vif1.0 and vif2.0 are the

Bizarre Networking
Hi,
I''ve bit the bullet and gone with Xen, but I get some odd networking.
Basically, this was the original idea.
eth0 external
eth1 internal
create bridge br0 for eth0
create bridge br1 for eth1
Strip IP addresses for eth0 and eth1 and assign to br0 and br1
respectively. Worked great in a non-xen kernel under Fedora 8 in KVM/Qemu.
Booting into Xen, my eth1 becomes eth2, I also get

FC5 -- Xen 3.0.2 -- iptables with dom0 and domU
Situation:
Running a simple UDP client/server program where the client on one domU on
one computer sends echo packets to another domU on another computer,
server sends echoes back. They do this on a specified port (will use any
port between 5000-6000). This program works on non-Xen machines in
various environments, Linux and Solaris. Program just hangs on the domUs.

xen networking troubles
Hi,
I want to switch my server into a Xen instance.
Right now there are 10 vlans ending up at the server. For each service that
the server provides, there is an alias IP address on each of the vlan
interfaces to serve the clients.
I want ot install xen, and divide the services into 4 virtual nodes. The
dom0 machine has three network interfaces, eth0, eth1, eth2. eth0 and eth1
are bonded

vif''s disappear after dom1 reboot
Today I found I can not ping some of my domU''s. I logged in to dom0,
did a "xm list", all domU are there. Then I did a "ifconfig" and
surprised to find some of vif''s disappeared!
Like for example. "xm list" show dom13 is alive, but "brctl show"
shows no vif13.0.
If I "xm console 13", there''s some message:

Xen bridge swallowing packets?
Hi, can anyone help me with this (weirdest problem Ive ever seen)
I have the latest Debian Squeeze vendor xen dom0 kernel and 1 domU succesfully installed on it using bridged networking. From dom0, I can ping/telnet etc. to anywhere on the web
