Serial Console Not Connecting to Dom0 on Ubuntu Server 12 Running Xen 4.1.3
Xen-users,
I have what I think is a bug in the serial console interaction of Xen and Ubuntu. Essentially, the serial console appears to work just fine until it is passed off to dom 0 from Xen. Then it stops communicating with dom0, but still communicates with Xen, if I use the control-A escape sequence. Google will not show me anything related to this.
I have local RS-232 serial console working

Xen fails with garbled boot screen - incompatible hardware?
Hi everyone
Ok this is really strange. I''ve been messing around with Xen for the
past few weeks on a 32bit test machine and CentOS 5.4 and it''s been
working fine.
At the weekend I went into the office to install Xen on our server but I
had a major problem.
The server is a home-build with a Tyan s5211 motherboard with an Intel
i3210w chipset CentOS 5.4 64bit installed and

About two months ago I sent this email to the Xen users lists
regarding a problem I was having losing some of my serial console
output on boot:

Unfortunately it got no replies.
I was just wondering and hoping if any developers could answer the
following questions:

Problem booting xen 4.1.2 on Athlon 64 X2
Adding apic_verbosity=debug gives me that (hope nothing miss-typed as I
have no serial console on this box). I found a lot of suggested workarounds:
- noapic as suggested in output gives an noapic isn''t support
- acpi_skip_timer_override has no effect at all
Thx,

using local media file to install guest
Hi,
Been fighting with this for a long time and have narrowed my issues down
to one item...
How to use a iso image file to install a guest os with centos6?
I installed centos6 with the virt host package.
According to few obscure sites virt-install cannot use local media iso
to install guests.
With virt-manager I was able to use the same iso to make a guest, but I
do not want the gui on the

Looking at the FAQ for SysLinux there is an option for an initrd file
(initrd=filename), this does not seem to work with pxelinux (or it is
just that I am doing something wrong...).
here is my config file:

virt-v2v should add kernel console= to Xen->KVM converted guest's grub.conf
I'm using virt-v2v (0.8.3 currently) on EL6 to convert Xen guests to
KVM. I see how virt-v2v converts any existing references to xvc0 and
hvc0 serial console devices in /etc/inittab, /etc/securetty, and
grub.conf. However, my Xen DomU grub.conf's don't have any mention of
console= on the kernel lines, because the Xen DomU kernel defaults to
using the correct xvc0 console. As a

TBOOT and extlinux
Hi,
I'm trying to get to the bottom of a problem using the combination of tboot (http://tboot.sf.net, trusted boot kernel for Intel TXT) and extlinux.
TBOOT loads using the multiboot protocol, where the tboot "kernel" is loaded as the kernel, and the actual linux kernel and initrd are specified as modules. A working grub configuration looks something like:
