I've been at this for 2 months now, and I just cant get Counter Strike to work on my setup. I have Ubuntu 7.10 64 bit edition, an x1900xt video card with the latest drivers, and wine 0.9.58 (The last known version of wine compatible with Counter Strike Source). My drivers are installed correctly, and I've successfully installed Steam, and even Counter Strike 1.6, which works fine.

I can run steam without a problem, but when I try to open Counter-Strike Source nothing happens. I get the window with

Hello,
I wanted to try out how Counter-Strike 1.6 works with Wine.
I have an Archlinux System (32 bit installed, but I have a AMD Athlon 64) with Wine 1.1.17.
Steam works fine and Counter-Strike is installed but if I start Counter-Strike, there's just a loading dialog that dissappears after one or two seconds...
I tried with strace but there's no really interesting output..

Counter-Strike Craches
Hey,
I have installed Ubuntu a few days ago, since my experience with Windows Vista has been horrible. I decided to run steam using wine, and I was also going to run Counter-Strike. So I installed wine first using the following command, "sudo apt-get install wine". Then downloaded steam and installed it. When I launched Steam, my friend's names were very hard to read. It's like

Re: Upgrade install using CentOS-3.1 ISO images (Bart Schaefer)
Be curious myself as to what info you come up with on the "upgrade via ISO"
and "SATA" support questions you posed.
Hopefully someone on the list will help you out with a reply to the list.

Wine Success and Failure report
Hello, (first post)
You probably don't want to hear about my Linux-related story, so I'll cut telling you that about 5 months ago I switched from XP to Ubuntu.
I've been a C/C++ programmer since I was 13 (2 years go), so I consider myself to understand a great deal of things (but hey, what is my opinion worth nowadays?)
