Re: [Xen-smartio] Problem with infiniband on Xen domU
Hi Lamia, Currently there is no direct InfiniBand access support in the Official Xen trees. You might want to have a look at our Xen-IB implementation. A preliminary version can be downloaded here: http://xenbits.xensource.com/ext/xen-smartio.hg Some information about its design and applications can be found here: High Performance VMM-Bypass I/O in Virtual Machines (Usenix 06), and A Case for

Xen Performance with Charm++
Dear All, I am doing a performance study on Xen, and we are deploying Charm++ parallel runtime library as part of our applications. However, we observed a 20% slow down in Xen kernel that was not observed with MPICH. It is very important for us to understand why this overhead is happening. I am guessing that is caused due to the higher cost of system calls like fork and exec, since Charm++

[Xen-SmartIO] Make Install crashed - Infiniband Drivers
Hi, I have a problem while doing a "make linux-2.6-xen-install". First of all, i did a "make linux-2.6-xen-config CONFIGMODE=menuconfig" I chose in Device Drivers menu -> Infiniband Support : If i choose all the options in module or built-in, i get the same results with make install. Infiniband Drivers under Xen kernel?
Hello folks, I am running Xen 2.6 under Centos 5.2 installation, and am trying to port Xen migration abilities to Infiniband. But, the InfiniBand drivers do not work under Xen kernel, only under non-Xen kernels. It looks like I need to install some patches to rectify the situation. Has anyone ever worked with Infiniband and Xen and would be able to give me inputs about the same? I would really

InfiniBand device in Xen
Hello, I''m trying to get working infiniband device in Xen. I have Xen v3 with 2.6.18 kernel. I export PCI device from Dom0 into DomU. I''ve enabled permisive device in Dom0. However, inserting infiniband module results in the following messages (with little more verbosity which I have added): pcifront pci-0: Installing PCI frontend pcifront pci-0: Creating PCI Frontend Bus

IPath infiniband support (PCI_MSI conflicts with XEN)
Hi, I''m trying to use a QLogic ipath infiniband card with xen. Unfortunately the ipath driver requires PCI_MSI and PCI_MSI conflicts with xen. Does anyone know the reason for that conflict or how hard it would be to make it work? Xen & InfiniBand
Dear Xen users, I'm trying to set up Xen in an HPC environment with IB to run MPI application via MVAPICH inside virtual machines. Has anybody managed to setup Infiniband connection from domU? Could you please share the details of how to achieve this? Thank you. Best Wishes. JinZhong.Tao _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com

Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!
Hi all, I have another problem with starting domainU (xenolinux). I took me pretty much quite some time and i can not figure out why starting a new domain is failing. I will really appreciate if somebody can help me with this error. The error I get when booting xen-domainU is: /======================= Red Hat nash version 4.1.18 starting Mounted /proc filesystem Mounting sysfs Creating /dev

Xen and the InfiniBand
Hi, all, Is the Xen currently compatible with the InfiniBand? I found some information about the Smart I/O module, but it was posted in 2006. Is the module still maintained? Or, are there any up-to-date alternatives for that? Many thanks, Chiu _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

RE: [ofa-general] Infiniband performance
Hi Jan, I asked almost the exact same question as you about 6 months ago and someone provided some Gen4 results for me (But I can''t seem to find them in email), they were a fair bit better than Gen3. With IPOIB, you want connected mode and a large 32Kb+ MTU for max bandwidth, 1Gbyte/sec or more should be possible with Gen 4. Here are some of my original test results on my Opteron

XCP & InfiniBand
I am running XCP 0.5. I have an InfiniBand network in place that I would like to use to connect to my NFS server for VM image storage. Has anybody tried getting IB to work with XCP? Is there a document that outlines the steps for getting IB to work with XCP? Also, I don''t need to expose the IB network to any of the domU. I only want to use the IB network to connecting to NFS based

FW: XEN and Infiniband
Hello, I going to try to install OFED 1.4 on Xen 3.3 and I`d like to realize a VMM kernel bypass. Thanks to it my doomU will be able to communicate directly with my HCA and not pass by the dom 0. How can I realize that ? Is there a soft or something like that to do the kernel by pass ? I saw that it exist things like XEN-IB driver and SoftIB, there can i get it ? Or is VMM kernel bypass

Request: Infiniband Support in ipconfig
When attempting to boot a system using Infiniband interfaces, ipconfig does not recognize Infiniband NICs as having valid MAC addresses, so they are silently ignored. As I would like to be able to netboot using Infiniband, I have patched ipconfig to support Infiniband interfaces. Fortunately, it's a pretty simple and straightforward patch. Below is the patch for your consideration. ---

Recommendations for Infiniband with CentOS 6.7
We have a new install of CentOS 6.7 with infiniband support installed. We can see the card in hardware and we can see the mlx4 drivers loaded in the kernel but cannot see the card as an ethernet interface, using ifconfig -a. Can you recommend an install procedure to see this as an ethernet interface? Thanks On 05/25/2016 07:32 AM, Fabian Arrotin wrote: > On 25/05/16 03:08, Pat Haley

Glusterfs with Infiniband tips
Hello guys, I was wondering if someone could share their glusterfs volume and system settings if you are running glusterfs with infiniband networking. In particular I am interested in using the glusterfs + infiniband + kvm for virtualisation. However, any other implementation would also be useful for me. I've tried various versions of glusterfs (versions 3.2, 3.3 and 3.4beta) over the past
