Running Asterisk on a Dell PowerEdge 2850 ServerRe: Dell Hardware
It's Digium, not Dell.
I have two identical Dell 1850s, each with the allegedly offensive built-in E100 Ethernet ports. I placed a TE410P card in each. One worked great, the other would not modprobe. Upon examination, we discovered that the two TE410P cards had different firmware revisions. Turns out the one with the older version was the one that worked. We sent the second card back

XCP question about similar hardware
Hi all,
I am planning to improve virtualization in my company. So I have
already a pool named p.e. Pool1. I have 5 servers Dell PowerEdge 1950
in it.
Now I have 4 servers Dell PowerEdge 2850 too.
Can I add 2850 to Pool1?
I can''t find anything about compatibility for different hadrware in new release.

[HELP] - Sound cutting and dropping out - 1.2.7.1/Sangoma/PowerEdge 2850
Hi all,
We are running Asterisk 1.2.7.1 on our Dell Poweredge 2850 and are having
massive sound quality issues.
We are experiencing call quality issues for our remote location, namely
calls cutting out and breaking up for our agents. The two main issues seem
to be 'popping' and 'dropping' - popping would be pops and crackles on the
line, where dropping would be complete audio

friendly printer name
Hi,
I have sucessfully installed an ad-integrated samba server. We mainly
use the server for printer sharing and are very happy with it. We only
have one problem or missing feature:
On a Windows Server, you change the name of a printer, so that it is
different to the share name. We use 8-letter sharenames for being
compatible to old Win9x-Clients, bbut we would like to have logner, more

Slightly OT: Dell Poweredge 2850 with 4GB RAM
Hi all,
I got the previously mentioned Dell Poweredge 2850 with 4GB RAM and Perc4e
raid controller. Installation went well and the raid is pretty fast even with
level 5.
However I have another problem now... CentOS 5.2 only sees 256MB RAM. Googling
a bit, got me to install kernel-PAE, this went well, but CentOS still sees
only 256MB.
Googling some more, I found a bios update was suggested and

hvm phy-disc doesnt boot (file-disc does) (debian dom0, SLES domU)
Hi,
we have a debian etch system running here and it works fine for hvms (winxp)
and paras (debian etchs).
Today i tried to do a SLES10SP2 setup as hvm (in the future it should run as
para). I used this config:
---------------
xenserver:/etc/xen# cat gp2backuptest.cfg
kernel = ''/usr/lib/xen-default/boot/hvmloader''

Centos 7 NetInstall: Pane is dead
Hi list,
I downloaded the netinstall iso, burned it to disk, and tried to install on my old Dell PowerEdge 2900 (Intel Xeon / 8Gb ram). Machine is connected to a KVM. The Centos 6 netinstall iso worked flawlessly on this exact configuration two days ago.
The first thing anaconda does after verifying the media is complain that "pane is dead" in the lower left corner. At this point,

xen2.0 stable periodic machine freeze
Hello,
I have a Dell PowerEdge 2850 that periodically (6 times in the last 24
hours) freezes, requiring a power cycle in order to come back.
The machine is running a Xen 2.0 stable source install. Here is the
appropriate Grub entry:

kernel /boot/xen-2.0.gz dom0_mem=131072
module /boot/vmlinuz-2.6-xen0 root=/dev/sda1 ro console=tty0

Dell PowerEdge 2850 / Xen / Windows 2003 / Debian
Hi, recently I came across a deal on a bunch of Dell PowerEdge 2850 servers
and I was hoping to use them to run Debian with Xen to provided
virtualization support for Windows 2003 and other Debian installations. I
was hoping to install 2 copies of Windows 2003 as well as 2 copies of Debian
all on top of the DOM0 Debian installation.
The servers have dual 3.2ghz CPU''s and include 16GB

Windows Xen VM's have high guest CPU usage and poor performance
Hello all,
I have a PowerEdge 2950 that I am using to host Windows XP VM's under
CentOS. I am experiencing poor performance in the Xen VM's. Any time I
try to do something, the CPU usage (as reported by the Windows task
manager) hits 100% for a few and then drops back down. This is causing
the VM's to run sluggish and be quite annoying to use. Example.. I
click IE.. cpu hits

I had a similar problem on a 2950. I solved it by downloading a tool from
Dell as described in this post:
