SuSE8.0 and SAMBA crash
Hi all,
We have been using SuSE7.2 and samba (client and server) without any
problems for a few months. Now, we migrated some workstations (samba
clients) to SuSE8.0 and we get segfaults while accessing files mounted
through samba. The segfault happens on the CLIENT side.
Here is our network configuration:
- SuSE7.2 server with default samba server package.
- Few SuSE7.2 workstations

vesamenu.c32 + include + CLI woes
Hi all,
In June 2007 Jerry Nelson started a thread on this mailing list about a problem he was seeing. The thread was http://syslinux.zytor.com/archives/2007-June/008673.html
After several hours of searching through the list, I am still convinced that his problem was never solved and is very valid. I recently moved from the old syslinux config options model (all labels in 1 default config file)

BUG + FIX in smbprint
Dear Samba Team,
the smbprint script as provided with Suse7.2 for Samba Version 2.2.0
did not work. The problem was that the file to be printed was not
transfered via stdin after the print - command.
I changed the smbprint script to pass the commands via the -c option.
My changes and comments are marked with MR27092001MR in the smbprint
attached.
I did not find this in the lists, so I hope this

Questions about W2K
I have a windows application that I need to have access to (so that I
can keep my wife happy with using linux)... I have tried the downloaded
version of Wine, and also recently loaded the CodeWeaver's Wine. I like
some of the features with the CodeWeaver's version (it included the
setup util)...
However, I can't seem to get the windows application to run. It
launches a Dr. Watson

Login incorrect problem (SUSE-packaged Xen)
Hello, I am a newbie of Xen and just started with SUSE9.3-packaged Xen.
The packaged document README.SuSE and script mk-xen-resucue-img.sh did me a
great help, I could run sample ttylinux-xen and rescue-based Suse with xen.
Now I''m trying YaST dirinstall. I Created a root FS image and installed a
"minimal system required" using YaST . This domain booted and login console

Ugly menu/dialog font of applications, using debian sarge and wine 0.9.8 and 0.9.22
hello,
I have a problem with an unsuitable font in the
windows menus/dialogs with the above versions of wine
(dont think this depends much on the versions, though.
Have not tried other versions so far.) when using
debian sarge.
The font seems to look a bit ugly, usually destroys
partly the menu/dialog structures, and, most
important, has no German umlaut's (the diphtongs ae,
oe, ue and

Changing from NTFS to ext3
I want to convert all my NTFS partitions to ext3 since I'm no longer
running Windows, at least on my main machine at home. I'm planning to
tar the NTFS partitions to an existing ext3, reformat the partition as
ext3 and untar it back.
What is the best way to accomplish step two of this - reformatting the
partition? I've only done this so far during the installation phase,
and that

Open Office on CentOS
I notice that the OO that comes with CentOS 4.4 is version 1.1.5, which
is fairly ancient. Are there any plans to update this for OO 2.2, or
2.1, or 2.0? Or is this a RH thing exclusively? In which case is
CentOS Plus likely to get a more recent version?
OO 2.0 is way better....

what might cause iSCSI connection 1:0 error ISCSI_ERR_CONN_FAILED
Hi,
I do have a centos 6.x server which accessed two different iscsistorages
for a long time without any trouble.
The storage-connection is done by a separate NIC and VLAN. The LAN
access is on an other NIC.
This weekend something broke and I don't have any clue what might be the
problem or what caused it.
The storages where mounted RO.
In /var/loge/messages there are lot of messages; so

Samba config for Windows on VMWare
I know this is a little off topic (not as usual, dammit!), but I figure
at least one of y'all can handle this one.
I have tried to configure my CentOS4.4 Plus desktop for samba sharing
with the VMWare Windows that runs on it. However, no matter what I've
done so far, I can't get the Windows to recognize this machine as a
legitimate network destination.
Here's my samba

Kernel question(s): I/O handling
I have been chasing down the way the inode and page caches are
structured and handled, but there is a mystery I have not been able to
track down yet. How does the I/O queue that dirty inodes and pages are
put into when it's time to flush them out to disk get picked up? Also,
where are the sources for the I/O schedulers? I haven't been able to
locate them yet either.
I know this
