Oracle 9i RAC on OCFS2
Hi, I'm setting up a 2-node Oracle 9i RAC on OCFS2. But I have some problems with understanding how the shared Oracle_Home is being used. For instance there is the *$ORACLE_HOME/oracm/admin/cmcfg.ora* file. The $ORACLE_HOME is on the SAN so the 2 nodes have access to this file. How will the settings then be done per node? Is there a guide/tutorial/howto for installing Oracle 9i RAC on

Is the order important when installing ocfs2 and Oracle RAC?
Is the order important when installing ocfs2 and Oracle RAC? If you have an existing RAC installation and you want to use ocfs2 for shared files but not for the OCR or Voting Disks, do you need to reinstall the Oracle Clusterware after installing OCFS2? re: has anyone tried debian + ocfs2 + 10gR2 RAC
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Folks, We would like to evaluate how ocfs2 will work with a debian distribution. Most of our systems people favor debian and so we are evaluating whether debian and ocfs2 work nicely + oracle 10gR2 rac. I know that debian is not supported by Oracle, but this is only for testing. Has anyone had experience with this? If so can you provide

OCFS2 on CentOS 4.5 for CRS/RAC
Hi, I sent an email to Mark Fisheh of Oracle Corp. & posted this issue at OTN under Linux thread this morning. I hope that someone among you might have experienced this and can help. On that basis, I am sending this to you too. I am stuck & will really appreciate if you can shed some light on this. Thanks. Anjan

question about oracle shared home install
Hi All, Scenario: I'm trying to install 9i rac on a 2 node cluster on OCFS2 OS: Oracle enterprise linux To my understanding, OCFS2 supports shared home installs which to my knowledge is not only can i have datafile and control files but also clustermanager files and binaries (pretty much everything: no files or executables need to kept local to any nodes). I have one single shared file for

10gR2, oifcfg fails on ocfs2
Howdy, I am trying to setup a 10gR2 RAC on top of some nbd devices. OS is Centos4.1/i386, (2.6.9-11.0.0.10.3.EL, ocfs2-2.6.9-11.0.0.10.3.EL-1.0.4-1). ocfs2 setup went perfectly well, btw. (besides the fact that ocfs2console apparently ignores nbd disks) mount says /dev/nbd1 on /opt/oradata/data1 type ocfs2 (rw,_netdev) on both nodes ls says (after runInstaller was started, so the files were

Sharing a SAN
Hi All, We are in the early stages of an Oracle E-Business Suite implementation running RHEL and are looking at different storage options. For production we are looking at a 4-Node RAC/10-Node Application tier and a 2-Node RAC/2-Node App tier for test. We would like to use OCFS for both RACs and shared APPL_TOPs (an E-Business features that lets you share a single copy of application code

OCFS2 volumes do no mount automatically on RHEL4 also
On RHEL4 also, the service o2cb starts later than _netdev device mounts. So mount fails. Should the o2cb service start earlier to fix this? Disappointing Performance Using 9i RAC with OCFS on Linux
Wim, Thanks for your prompt response on this. The tpmC figures look very impressive, and tpmC is read intensive. I had already read note 236679.1 "Comparing Performance Between RAW IO vs OCFS vs EXT2/3" which I guess is the article to which you are referring; it made me suspect that the poor performance was due to the lack of an OS IO cache but I wasn't sure. The database is

Question about increasing node slots
We have a test 10gR2 RAC cluster using ocfs2 filesystems for the Clusterware files and the Database files. We need to increase the node slots to accomodate new RAC nodes. Is it true that we will need to umount these filesystems for the upgrade (i.e. Database and Clusterware also)? We are planning to use the following command format to perform the node slot increase: # tunefs.ocfs2 ?N 3

re: is it possible for the o2cb stack to monitor multiple "clusternames" on the same box
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Folks, When I installed ocfs2 the first time and setup oracle to work with it, the clustername defaulted to "ocfs2". We are testing adding new nodes, but we would like to add new nodes to the o2cb cluster in a different clustername. Do I need to do anything to keep that separate on the filesystem. E-Business 11i.9 and RAC 9.2.0.3
Hi, I am currently involved in a project with E-Business 11i.9. For the production enviroment, ct. wants to implement Load Balance and Fail Over - both middle tier and database tier, the last with RAC. As E11i creates lots of tablespaces, the best way seems to be OCFS. We installed & configured OCFS partitions. The next step was to install E11i multi tier, single instance - already
