Reading in a table with ISO-latin1 encoding in MacOS-X (Intel)
Dear colleages in R, I have earlier been working with R in Linux, where reading in a table containing Scandinavian letters ("?", "?", and "?") in the header as part of variable names has not caused any problem whatsoever. However, when trying to do the same in R running on new MacOS-X (with an Intel processor) with the same original text table does not seem to

iscsid still starting up after turning it off
I have a set of CentOS 5.7 workstations, on which I have turned of iscsid using 'chkconfig iscid off'. However, when some of them reboot, iscsid starts anyway. Also, when I do an 'service --status-all", iscsid is listed twice (this is true on both the workstations where iscsid starts and the ones where iscsid doesn't start), which seems to indicate, I think, that it is

can't start iscsi - and can't find answer on google
Hi all, I have the strangest problem on one of our backup server. iscsi doesn't start at all, and gives the following error: [root at 2U-NAS ~]# /etc/init.d/iscsi status iscsid is stopped [root at 2U-NAS ~]# /etc/init.d/iscsi start iscsid is stopped Starting iSCSI daemon: Unable to create pid file: /var/run/brcm_iscsiuio.pid [FAILED] Setting up iSCSI targets: iscsiadm: No records

xen, iscsi and resilience to short network outages
Hi. Here is the short version: If dom0 experiences a short (< 120 second) network outage the guests whose disks are on iSCSI LUNs get (seemingly) unrecoverable IO errors. Is it possible to make Xen more resiliant to such problems? And now the full version: We''re testing Xen on iSCSI LUNs. The hardware/software configuration is: * Dom0 and guest OS: SLES10 x86_64 * iSCSI LUN on

iscsi conn error: Xen related?
Hello all, I got some severe iscsi connection loss on my dom0 (Gentoo 2.6.20-xen-r6, xen 3.1.1). Happening several times a day. open-iscsi version is 2.0.865.12. Target iscsi is the open-e DSS product. iscsi connection drop, comes back in seconds, then deadlock in cluster
Greetings ocfs2 folks, A client is experiencing some random deadlock issues within a cluster, wondering if anyone can point us in the right direction. The iSCSI connection seemed to have dropped on one node briefly, ultimately several hours later landing us in a complete deadlock scenario where multiple nodes (Node 7 and Node 8) had to be panic'd (by hand - they didn't ever panic on

sdc1 without the sdc
So I'm working with the iSCSI Initiator and an EqualLogic SAN. I'm not sure when this might have happened, but it appears that the /dev/sdc device is missing, yet the /dev/sdc1 partition exists AND is mountable. Is there a method to re-create the /dev/sdc device? I cannot dd or fdisk it, obviously, but I can mount the /dev/sdc1 partition and it works just fine. Not having the /dev/sdc

Problems with scsi-target-utils when hosted on dom0 centos 7 xen box
Hello Nathan, dear all, > We were attempting to use scsi-target-utils, hosted on a xen dom0 vm using localhost, > and running into some problems. I was not able to reproduce this on a centos 7.2 > server using the default kernel. I am seeing comparable things on our centos6 xen servers running 3.18 kernels. We have about 20 of those machines running and have started upgrading them from

Mouting Xen DomU images in Dom0
Hi everyone, I have a CentOS 5 Domain0 with a CentOS 5 Domain U installed on my machine, it all works flawlessly. One of the problems I am faced with is transporting the Domain U image to another machine (not in real time). Since the Virtual Machine Manager allows installing the guest operating system using the CentOS 5 installer, it ends up treating the partition (in my case an LVM partition)

Mixed bonding and vlan on plain adapter possible?
Hello, I have a CentOS 7.3 + updates server where my configuration arises from the need to connect via iSCSI to a Dell PS Series storage array and Dell not supporting bonding. So that I need to use 2 nics on the same vlan to connect to iSCSI portal IP and then use multipath. Also, the iSCSI lan is on a dedicated vlan I have only these 2 x 10Gbit adapters and I also need to put other vlans on them

iscsi-initiator-utils required in 5.6, loads uneeded modules
I just updated one of my virtual hosts to 5.6 and on rebooted I spotted an error about iscsi. Which surprised me, since I don't use iscsi. Yet there it is... % rpm -qf /etc/init.d/iscsi iscsi-initiator-utils-6.2.0.872-6.el5 And they're configured to start iscsi 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:on 4:on 5:on 6:off iscsid 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:on 4:on

upgrade issue
I have an old dell 2450 that was running kernel 2.6.18-308.1.1.el5 I then upgraded it via yum to 2.6.18-308.1.1.el5. Now when the server boots to the new kernel, 2.6.18-308.1.1.el5 it hangs on "starting iSCSI" and the weird thing is when I tried to switch back to the older 2.6.18-308.1.1.el5 kernel it works fine but the network script fails to start. I'm not really sure what I should

[PATCH node] iscsi remote root basework This lays most of the groundwork for iscsi installation and configuration. At this time configuring iscsi is disabled due to multiple issues with dependent pieces.
- dracut does not currently support booting a dmsquash file system on an iscsiroot - can not be configured in standalone mode since networking is not up, although works fine if ovirt-config-setup is run once booted.
