Question about increasing node slots
We have a test 10gR2 RAC cluster using ocfs2 filesystems for the Clusterware files and the Database files. We need to increase the node slots to accomodate new RAC nodes. Is it true that we will need to umount these filesystems for the upgrade (i.e. Database and Clusterware also)? We are planning to use the following command format to perform the node slot increase: # tunefs.ocfs2 ?N 3

ocfs2 <-> 10G (10.2.01) Clusterware
RHEL 4 (CENT OS) Am I waisting my time trying to get the 10G Clusterware installer to use OCFS2 volumes for the voting and OCR disks ? The ocfs2 setup seems happy on both nodes but the 10G installer says the location entered for the oracle cluster registry (OCR) is not shared across all the nodes in the cluster Do the volumes need to mounted ? I did with no change . [root@green rc5.d]#

Why OCFS2 with RAC
I have been a user of OCFS2 for quite some time now (2 years or so) and a user of Oracle RAC for several years as well. My usage of these two is completely independent though, the cluster filesystem is for application level usage (web servers, etc.) only because RAC can manage its own shared storage directly. And that brings me to my observation/question... I keep seeing a lot of messages

10gR2, oifcfg fails on ocfs2
Howdy, I am trying to setup a 10gR2 RAC on top of some nbd devices. OS is Centos4.1/i386, (2.6.9-11.0.0.10.3.EL, ocfs2-2.6.9-11.0.0.10.3.EL-1.0.4-1). ocfs2 setup went perfectly well, btw. (besides the fact that ocfs2console apparently ignores nbd disks) mount says /dev/nbd1 on /opt/oradata/data1 type ocfs2 (rw,_netdev) on both nodes ls says (after runInstaller was started, so the files were

mixed environment / why is setting up an oracle cluster on windows so hard?
hello everybody I successfully installed a *very* small two node cluster with a shared volume on linux (both debian, one x86, one ARM [laugh not: NSLU2 :)]). before that, I tried to install the "clusterware" package on my windows xp box and it constantly complained about the three different ip addresses it wanted to see, then I got so frustrated with numerous manual hosts-file

re: has anyone tried debian + ocfs2 + 10gR2 RAC
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Folks, We would like to evaluate how ocfs2 will work with a debian distribution. Most of our systems people favor debian and so we are evaluating whether debian and ocfs2 work nicely + oracle 10gR2 rac. I know that debian is not supported by Oracle, but this is only for testing. Has anyone had experience with this? If so can you provide

mounting ocfs2 partitions on boot
Hi list, today, I installed a two node Oracle 10g RAC system on SLES9 SP2 RC2 which shares (via a SAN) a database volume and a quorum (ocr and voting). This volumes are formated with ocfs2 - so far no problem. At the moment I'm stuck with the mounting of these volumes at boot time. The user-guide of ocfs2-tools mentions to add the corresponding lines to fstab - but at the time when fstab

OCFSv2 certification dates
Hi, The oss.oracle.com website has the following statement: OCFS2 certification with Oracle 10g Release 2 RAC on Linux x86, x86-64, Itanium and Power is currently in progress. Is there any indication when this process will be completed? We have a customer in NZ that wants to use OCFSv2 for the OCR and voting files with 10.1.0.4 RAC on RHAS4.0 Linux x86-64. They do not want to use raw devices

Oracle 9i RAC on OCFS2
Hi, I'm setting up a 2-node Oracle 9i RAC on OCFS2. But I have some problems with understanding how the shared Oracle_Home is being used. For instance there is the *$ORACLE_HOME/oracm/admin/cmcfg.ora* file. The $ORACLE_HOME is on the SAN so the 2 nodes have access to this file. How will the settings then be done per node? Is there a guide/tutorial/howto for installing Oracle 9i RAC on

Caveat: I know nothing in particular about Oracle RAC, but... Assuming that RAC uses something like SCSI reservations in order to share the disk, I would guess it doesn't like the disk being on the IDE

Using RAC
Hello, I've successfully configured RAC on Redhat AS, with external firewire + ocfs. The whole process was done without any errors and have created the database. (Thanks to Wim Coekaerts useful article). But now, how do I actually use it? If I have a client making a connection, to which node do I connect? Are there also any recommended procedures to test RAC's capabilities? Thanks.

Disappointing Performance Using 9i RAC with OCFS on Linux
Wim, Thanks for your prompt response on this. The tpmC figures look very impressive, and tpmC is read intensive. I had already read note 236679.1 "Comparing Performance Between RAW IO vs OCFS vs EXT2/3" which I guess is the article to which you are referring; it made me suspect that the poor performance was due to the lack of an OS IO cache but I wasn't sure. The database is
