OCFS2 strage freezes
Good day, everyone.
I have SAN server build with Openfiler OS, with iSCSI mode turned on. I have
two nodes, which connect to that server via iSCSI, using one of two active
iSCSI partitions. I've installed ocfs2 1.3.3 with kernel 2.6.23.1, configured
it, made ocfs2 partition and was successful in mounting it on both nodes.
Everything works just fine, I can upload file from one node and

using CentOS as an iSCSI server?
Has anyone succesfully setup, and used CentOS as an iSCSI server? I'm
trying to setup a server with 4x500GB HDD's, setup in RAID 10 to act
as an iSCSI server for a virtualization project, but I can't find a
decent howto on how to setup an iSCSI server using CentOS.
I would like to setup something like Openfiler, but we also need todo
some other stuff that OpenFiler doesn't

CentOS MD RAID 1 on Openfiler iSCSI
Has anybody tried or knows if it is possible to create a MD RAID1
device using networked iSCSI devices like those created using
OpenFiler?
The idea I'm thinking of here is to use two OpenFiler servers with
physical drives in RAID 1, to create iSCSI virtual devices and run
CentOS guest VMs off the MD RAID 1 device. Since theoretically, this
setup would survive both a single physical drive

openfiler (was: using CentOS as an iSCSI server?)

Here is something I am currently lokoing at, and wondering if you'd
considered it or if anyone here has done it.
I've got a bunch of existing hardware - really good IBM stuff that is
all installed with CentOS (with a few exceptions). We want to move to
virtualization, but

[PATCH 0/3] ocfs2: Inode Allocation Strategy Improvement.v2
Changelog from V1 to V2:
1. Modify some codes according to Mark's advice.
2. Attach some test statistics in the commit log of patch 3 and in
this e-mail also. See below.
Hi all,
In ocfs2, when we create a fresh file system and create inodes in it,
they are contiguous and good for readdir+stat. While if we delete all
the inodes and created again, the new inodes will get spread out and
that

A Billion Files on OCFS2 -- Best Practices?
We have an application that has many processing threads writing more than a
billion files ranging from 2KB ? 50KB, with 50% under 8KB (currently there
are 700 million files). The files are never deleted or modified ? they are
written once, and read infrequently. The files are hashed so that they are
evenly distributed across ~1,000,000 subdirectories up to 3 levels deep,
with up to 1000 files

Ofcs2 Questions!
Hello,
First of all, i am new at the list and i have several questions about ocfs2
performance.
Where i am working i am having huge performance problens with ocfs2.
Let me tell my envoriment.

acctualy 3 LUNS, 3 ocfs2 clusters )
I am not the one who configured the envoriment, but it is making the

2 node cluster, Heartbeat2, self-fencing
Hello everyone.
I am currently working on setting up new servers for my employer. Basically we
want two servers, all of them running several VEs (virtual environments,
OpenVZ) which can dynamically take over each others job if necessary. Some
services will run concurrently on both servers like apache2 (load balancing),
so those need concurrent access to specific data.
We had a close look at

10 Node OCFS2 Cluster - Performance
Hi,
I am currently running a 10 Node OCFS2 Cluster (version 1.3.9-0ubuntu1)
on Ubuntu Server 8.04 x86_64.
Linux n1 2.6.24-24-server #1 SMP Tue Jul 7 19:39:36 UTC 2009 x86_64

The Cluster is connected to a 1Tera iSCSI Device presented by an IBM
3300 Storage System, running over a 1Gig Network.
Mounted on all nodes: /dev/sdc1 on /cfs1 type ocfs2

hardware needed for OCFS
Hi,
Does OCFS require NAS hardware to run or does normal PC hard disk work?
Thanks,

Why OCFS2 with RAC
I have been a user of OCFS2 for quite some time now (2 years or so)
and a user of Oracle RAC for several years as well. My usage of
these two is completely independent though, the cluster filesystem is
for application level usage (web servers, etc.) only because RAC can
manage its own shared storage directly. And that brings me to my
observation/question...
I keep seeing a lot of messages

OCFS2 + iscsi: another node is heartbeating in our slot (over scst)
Hi,
I'm building a cluster containing two nodes with seperate common storage
server.
On storage server i have volume with ocfs2 fs which is sharing this
volume via iscsi target.
When node connected to the target i can local mount volume on node and
using it.
Unfortunately. on storage server ocfs2 logged to dmesg:

bug resolve yet for export OCFS2 volume to NFS client ?
I found this from ocfs1.4 document:
g) NFS
OCFS2 volumes can be exported as NFS volumes. This support is limited to
NFS version 3, which translates to Linux kernel version 2.4 or later.
Users must mount the NFS volumes on the clients using the nordirplus
mount option. This disables the READDIRPLUS RPC call to workaround a bug
in NFSD, detailed in the following link:

Diagnosing some OCFS2 error messages
Hello. I am experimenting with OCFS2 on Suse Linux Enterprise Server
11 Service Pack 1.
I am performing various stress tests. My current exercise involves
writing to files using a shared-writable mmap() from two nodes. (Each
node mmaps and writes to different files; I am not trying to access
the same file from multiple nodes.)
Both nodes are logging messages like these:

OT: iscsi target bind to two addresses?
Does anyone know off hand how to bind iscsi enterprise target to two
distinct addresses. Lets say I have a machine that has a bunch of
interfaces on it, with different subnets. Rather than have ietd
broadcast itself on all interfaces (the default), I would like to
limit it to only two interfaces. I have edited the init.d startup
script with --address x.x.x.x which works, but I tried using the

DLM Problem?
Hello,
I have an active, balanced webcluster with 2 SLES10SP2 nodes, both running
ocfs2 with an iscsi target.
The ocfs2 volume is mounted on both nodes.
Everything works fine, except sometime the load on both systems go as high
as 200, then both systems freeze, only reboot helps to regain control.
I noticed that this behaviour does not occur when the cluster is NOT
balanced. When the load on both
