How do I configure shorewall to work with VoIP SIP?
Hello, Let me first start by saying Shorewall is awesome, and I use it everywhere from single box firewall, to home network firewall, even to our corporate firewall. I am experiencing a problem getting my home firewall to work with my BroadVoice VoIP connection. I use the Sipura SPA-2100 ATA (Analog Telephone Adapter) that came with my BroadVoice account. This happened when I tried to replace

Is 4GB memory the 64bit switch tipping point?
I am curious what should be the benchmark for making the choice of switching from 32bit to 64bit Linux? I have a few assumptions below. Is my logic sound? (This is a follow up to the "Adding RAM" thread) Assumptions: 1. 4GB Memory. The main benefit of 64bit mode is the ability to address more than 4GB of RAM. I assume that you use 64bit mode if you want to *efficiently* have

XL toolstack and drbd
Hej folks, I''m messing around with DRBD once again but with a new Xen 4.1.2 installation using the XL toolstack instead of the xend daemon. However, after getting my DRBD installed and a device operational, trying to create a domU using the drbd block device doesn''t want to work: xl create -c test.cfg Parsing config file test.cfg Unknown disk type: drbd My config has: disk

pm-utils - ATrpms updates a system package on the stable branch
I performed a clean minimal CentOS 5.2 install, fully updated the system, and then added the ATrpms repository. When I perform an update after adding the ATrpms repository, the package pm-utils is updated the the ATrpms repository. My understanding is there should not have been any updates as the stable version does not update system packages, right? "The CentOS 5/RHEL 5 repository

Integer Version with low bit rate for Linux Kernel?
Hello Segher Boessenkool I am writing a Linux Kernel Device-Driver for a low bitrate radio link, connected via USB to the PC. Incoming VOIP- IP Pakets go directly to the network interface of the kernel module. A transcoding from e. g. PCM or G723.1 to e. g. speex 2.15 is necessary, and also a header reduction RTP/UDP/IP. Building two redundant servers without clustering
Hi, my Fileserver lately refused to work anymore. I'm quite thankfull for that for that it was a bit slow anyway ;-) My idea is to set up two relativley samba-hosts instead of byuing one "real" server with many build in redundancies. That can only work if I can manage to keep both filesystems in sync and I see two alternatives: 1.: Use drdb to build a RAID1 across the two

Samba4: fileserver on a box other than a DC
Hi Our fileserver is currently on DC1 in a 2DC domain. We are running out of space on that box. Is there any possibility of being able to run smbd on another box (not necessarily a domain controller) by syncing the data over to it from DC1? We also run NFS on some of the same data. I can already see this turning into a naming, IP and Kerberos nightmare. What would be the provision

xl - no support for DRBD disks?
I tried to create a domain with drbd based disk as the backend "drbd:<resourcename>,..," and I get a "unknown disk type" error. I can spin out a patch if needed, but just wanted to know apriori if this was left out for any specific reason. shriram _______________________________________________ Xen-devel mailing list Xen-devel@lists.xensource.com

two dovecot server using the same file system
Hi all. I want to use two servers with dovecot using a common file system with drbd. So I have several questions. If one server write a mail to th file system he will use his name as part of the mail identification. the second server will use his own name. Each server will generate it own mail numbers . When an imap or pop user will consult the mails i shoul be confusion. Am I correct. is there

GlusterFS as virtual machine storage
> This is true even if I manage locking at application level (via virlock > or sanlock)? Yes. Gluster has it's own quorum, you can disable it but that's just a recipe for a disaster. > Also, on a two-node setup it is *guaranteed* for updates to one node to > put offline the whole volume? DRBD,GFS2 and GNBD without all clustered cman stuff
Hi all, Where i want to arrive: 1) having two storage server replicating partition with DRBD 2) exporting via GNBD from the primary server the drbd with GFS2 3) inporting the GNBD on some nodes and mount it with GFS2 Assuming no logical error are done in the last points logic this is the situation: Server 1: LogVol09, DRDB configured as /dev/drbd0 replicated to Server 2. DRBD seems to work

O_EXCL unreliable?
Hi all, I fear I can't rely on "open (path, O_CREAT | O_EXCL)" behaviour on samba share. The libc's doc says: If both `O_CREAT' and `O_EXCL' are set, then `open' fails if the specified file already exists. This is guaranteed to never clobber an existing file. But this isn't probably true on network filesystems. When I run this tiny program on

drdb fails under xen
Under xen, either stock xen-2.0.1+linux-2.6.9 or Fedora''s latest (2.6.10-1.1109_FC4), drdb (<http://www.drbd.org/>),as soon as I try to write to one of its devices, causes "Badness" in the kernel and, ultimately, a spontaneous reboot. Under non-xen 2.6.10-1.1109_FC4 and 2.6.9-1.678_FC3, drbd works fine. The error: Jan 25 21:01:23 turing kernel: Badness in blk_plug_device
