How to write get functional test when there is no action by that name
I have following line in route.rb
#event info for an event name
map.connect ''event/:name_url'',:controller => ''home'',:action =>
''event_info''
It causes a URL like http://localhost:3000/event/_jewels_exhibition_ to be
sent to the home controller with action as ''event_info''.
I am trying to test this action. My first

Sorting by computed temporary field
Hey all,
I''m rather new to Ruby and Rails (and not great with SQL), but I''m
developing a ride sharing app and would like to be able to sort on
something I don''t have stored.
I have users, events, and rides, each of which has a zip code. Events
have_many rides, and rides belong_to events.
When an event is selected, I''d like to be able to show a list of

complete stumper: variable exists in hidden_field_tag, but nil everywhere else
This is a real mystery to me. I have an instance variable in a partial
that only gives its value inside a hidden_field_tag. If I try to use
the variable anywhere else in the partial, i either get nil or an
undefined error. The goal is to use the value of @event.id outside of
hidden_field_tag.
Here''s what works:
<%= hidden_field_tag ''id'', @event && @event.id,

Trivial API question
I know - I like to futz. I''m thinking of changing the way I pass
optional arguments. This is from EventLog:
# Write an event to the event log
# Current way
el.report_event(
"source" => "foo",
"category" => 0x2,
"event_id" => 0x3,
"data" => "Warning! Danger Will Robinson!",

has_many :through questions
I''ve created the following associations using :through:

class Event < ActiveRecord::Base

Error : End-of-File Error occured at <except.c>
Everything was working fine till last night. This morning I have many
errors.
I am using acts_as_ferret. Last updated around a month ago on linux.
There are two different type of exceptions. I have over 12 exception
emails but these are the two distince types.
First exception:
A EOFError occurred in home#event_info:

Catch 22 with after_save. Please help.
I have a pretty strange problem. Here is basically what I have to
demonstrate my problem:
class Event < ActiveRecord::Base
def after_create
AnotherClass.find_event(id)
end
end
class AnotherClass < ActiveRecord::Base
def self.find_event(event_id)
e = Event.find event_id
end
end
Here is the catch 22 and it''s quite annoying. Basically ActiveRecord
puts to whole save

help with ActiveRecord joins
I''m working on a fairly complex join query and could use a bit of advice
from more expert users of ActiveRecord.
I have an events table with quite a lot of data, with has_many relations
to categories, age_groups, and event_images. In my first naive
implementation, each event had a date, so to load all upcoming events
efficiently, I''d do:
Event.find(:all,

Question about Classes.
I have the attached class that I''m writing. The problem that I''m
running into is that I can not access the options from the createArray
function which get called after the ajax request gets done. I want to
move the values of the xml file to an array and story it in the options
variable. Can someone explain what I''m doing wrong?
var LeaderInfo = Class.create();

acts_as ... hourly_list?
Hi,
My question is a bit of wonder and a bit of enlightment.
I have two models, Channel and ChannelItem, the second is a list of
Events, ordered by position (because I''m using acts_as_list).
Later I use a method in Channel to recalculate the hour when that show
come online, based on the duration of it and doing math based on the
previous one duration and start time, starting from

Possible problems with EventLog#write
Hi,
I''ve got EventLog#write and EventLog.add_event_source methods done.
Well, I *think* they''re done, but I can''t get the data (text) to work
properly, and I''m not sure if it''s a bug in my .mc file, the
add_event_source method, the write method, or just a goof in my test file.
The source, category and event id seem to be ok. However, the

implementing project management and event types
I am implemented a simple project management application. Each
project has various events, and each event can be a different type.
Some event information is common, such as name, start date, close
date, and comments. I have a projects table which has_many events.
My plan is to have several sub-event tables, like event_get_access
which will contain an event_id field to link it to table events as

[RFC PATCH v7 44/78] KVM: introspection: add KVMI_VM_CONTROL_EVENTS
With this command the introspection tool enables/disables VM events
(ie. KVMI_EVENT_UNHOOK), because no event (neither VM event, nor vCPU
event) will be sent to the introspection tool unless enabled/requested.

[PATCH v9 45/84] KVM: introspection: add KVMI_VM_CONTROL_EVENTS
By default, all introspection VM events are disabled. The introspection
tool must explicitly enable the VM events it wants to receive. With
this command (KVMI_VM_CONTROL_EVENTS) it can enable/disable any VM event
(e.g. KVMI_EVENT_UNHOOK) if allowed by the device manager.

validate unless, LoginGenerator difficulty
I apologize if this is a very simple question; I''ve searched the forums,
wiki, Google, and Agile Web Development with Rails to no avail.
Is there a way to put conditional validation in the model? For
instance, if I want to limit items a user can add unless the user is an
admin? My current code is:
validates_uniqueness_of :user_id, :scope => ''event_id'',

junction table question
I''m looking into how to implement a relationship between some models,
and I think I need to use a junction table. From the documentation I''ve
read, a junction table doesn''t require a model. But from my controller,
I''m not sure how to get the data I need. Here''s a description of my
models and what I need in my controller:
