Re: ATA-over-Ethernet v's iSCSI -- CORAID is NOT SAN , also check multi-target SAS

SCSI-2, iSCSI and > FC/FC-AL are. AoE is not. As I understand it, Coraid will allow multiple machines to mount a volume, it just doesn't handle the synchronization. So you can have more than one

Coraid Ether Drives
Hello My company is changing server software to CentOS on Dell equipment. At the same time we are expanding our RAID system from standard SCSI to either SATA, or the technology brought forward by Coraid using the AoE protocol. Before we take the final decision I am looking for some real experience with Coraid products on a scale of 30+ disks. We will be using a cluster of four servers with a mix

Error mounting ocfs2 partition...
Hi, I'm new to this list and to the ocfs2 system and to clustering in general (3 strikes?--ack!). I have some problems with my first attempt at configuring an ocfs2 system and need some perspective. My setup is a Compaq Proliant CL380 2 node cluster with a shared storage array. Both nodes are currently running SLES 10. However, I am just trying to get one node working. I have read the

ocfs2 and Suse 9.2
I'm having some problems with ocfs2 and Suse 9.2. The documentation for ocfs2 says it comes with Suse 9.2. I've installed Suse and used YAST to get to SP2. # SPident -vv Summary (using 612 packages) Product/ServicePack conflict match update (shipped) SLES-9-x86_64 0 0% 293 47.9% 44 (1597 18.3%) SLES-9-x86_64-SP1 0 0% 110

help needed with ocfs2 on centos5.2
Hi, I was interested in a simple configuration with 2 machines sharing a drbd drive in primary-primary mode. I am done with drbdb, but I am a newbie to ocfs, so wanted some help. I have 2 machines, with centos5.2 , kernel 2.6.18-8.el5. I downloaded the following packages : ocfs2-2.6.18-92.el5-1.4.1-1.el5.x86_64.rpm ocfs2-tools-1.4.1-1.el5.x86_64.rpm ocfs2console-1.4.1-1.el5.x86_64.rpm (download

renaming a OCFS2 cluster
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi everyone, another problem I did not find a solution for... I ran "o2cb configure" and configured a cluster named "ocfs2". Lazy me, I did not invent a new name. Now this cluster must be renamed to avoid confusion, the name has to change to "sapcluster". I changed /etc/ocfs2/cluster.conf to the new name and ran

Adding new nodes to OCFS2?
I looked around, found older post which seems not applicable anymore. I have a cluster of 2 nodes right now, which has 3 OCFS2 file systems. All the file systems were formatted with 4 node slots. I added the two news nodes (by hand, by ocfs2console and o2cb_ctl), so my /etc/ofcfs/cluster.conf looks right: node: ip_port = 7777 ip_address = 192.168.201.1 number = 0

10gR2, oifcfg fails on ocfs2
Howdy, I am trying to setup a 10gR2 RAC on top of some nbd devices. OS is Centos4.1/i386, (2.6.9-11.0.0.10.3.EL, ocfs2-2.6.9-11.0.0.10.3.EL-1.0.4-1). ocfs2 setup went perfectly well, btw. (besides the fact that ocfs2console apparently ignores nbd disks) mount says /dev/nbd1 on /opt/oradata/data1 type ocfs2 (rw,_netdev) on both nodes ls says (after runInstaller was started, so the files were

OCFS2-versions and SLES9/10, update
hi, just to complete the story: i downloaded the iso-images of SLES9-SP4_x86_64 from novell and found inside ocfs2-tools and ocfs2console, both version 1.2.1. :-( we solved our problem without resizing the FS for now, but it would have been less complicated with resizing. perhaps we should consider upgrading to SLES10... :-D greetz, thomas

Re: URGENT: OCFS2 hang - 32 node cluster POC
Run: # top # vmstat 1 # iostat -x /dev/emcpowerb 1 The latter two you can save to a file. For top, just monitor cpu usage and see if any process is hogging all of it. OCFS2 performance issues
I have a 12 node cluster using ocfs2. Not all the nodes mount the same filesystems, so for this issue I am just focusing on the 8 nodes that mount the filesystem that has performance issues. The 8 nodes have 10 ocfs2 volumes mounted on them, and the volume that seems to be causing the most problems is 2TB (data), which is currently 90% full. At times, data performs very poorly. Processes

Re: ocfs2 and configfs.ko..fixed...but gnuparted has issues....
I was able to get the source code for ocfs2 and compile it. This worked and created the necessary .ko files Now I have to figure out why gnu parted 1.6.15 has bugs. when I try a partprobe on a partitioned firewire maxtor drive mount -t ocfs2 /dev/sdb1 /u01/oradata/orcl It says no such device.... Any ideas anyone?... Regards, Mandar Vengurlekar ----- Original Message ----- From: Mandar P

OCFS2 works like standalone
I have installed OCFS2 on two nodes SuSE 10. Seems all works superb and nice from the first sight. But, /dev/sda ocfs2 rac1 is not sharing through net (port 7777) with rac0. On both nodes I have 500Mb /dev/sda disks that are mounted (and are ocfs2). But they did not share the content with each other (files and folders in it). So when I am creating the file in one node I am expecting to
