SEEK_DATA/HOLE on ocfs2 - v2
Two patches follow this message. One fixes the default implementation
of SEEK_HOLE/DATA. This patch applies atop Josef's last posted patch.
The second patch implements the same on ocfs2.
The test tool for the same is available here.
http://oss.oracle.com/~smushran/seek_data/seek_test.c
It is improved since the last post. It runs cleanly on zfs, ocfs2 and ext3
(default behavior). Users

[PATCH v21 22/30] ocfs2: Provide a splice-read stub
Provide a splice_read stub for ocfs2. This emits trace lines and does an
atime lock/update before calling filemap_splice_read(). Splicing from
direct I/O is handled by the caller.
A couple of new tracepoints are added for this purpose.

[PATCH] ocfs2: Fix a bug in direct IO read.
ocfs2 will become read-only if we try to read the bytes which pass
the end of i_size. This can be easily reproduced by following steps:
1. mkfs a ocfs2 volume with bs=4k cs=4k and nosparse.
2. create a small file(say less than 100 bytes) and we will create the file
which is allocated 1 cluster.
3. read 8196 bytes from the kernel using O_DIRECT which exceeds the limit.
4. The ocfs2 volume

[PATCH] ocfs2: Don't duplicate page passes i_size during CoW.
During CoW, actually all the pages after i_size contains
garbage data, so don't read and duplicate them.

Problem with ordered mode handling on truncate
Hi,
I've looked at how OCFS2 call jbd2_journal_begin_ordered_truncate()
(because I've been adding some comments about how is should be used) and
noticed that OCFS2 has a potential race in truncate vs transaction commit
leading to stale data in file. In particular: There is a race if someone
writes new data and we start committing the transaction after

RedHat Node Panic Weekly
See earlier post - May 10th "Node Panic"
Can anyone tell me what might be happening here? I have a 3 node
cluster running under RH AS 4 (2.6.9-34.ELsmp) with ocfs2 v.
1.2.1. I've upgraded to 1.2.1 as suggested in the previous post,
but one or more of my nodes continues to panic weekly:

[PATCH -v2] btrfs: Use correct values when updating inode i_size on fallocate
Even though we allocate more, we should be updating inode i_size
as per the arguments passed

Changes from V1:
We should update i_size only if actual_len and cur_offset are both
larger than i_size. Otherwise if actual_len is < i_size and cur_offset > i_size
we may end up setting wrong i_size value

[PATCH] ocfs2: make __ocfs2_page_mkwrite handle file end properly.
__ocfs2_page_mkwrite now is broken in handling file end.
1. the last page should be the page contains i_size - 1.
2. the len in the last page is also calculated wrong.
So change them accordingly.

stop tunefs.ocfs2
Hi all,
I upgraded ocfs from 1.2 to 1.4 after the update I launched tunefs.ocfs2 to enable the new ocfs2 features (sparse files and unwritten extents). tunefs.ocfs2 is now running since 2 days (12T partition) and I need my system back to production, can I safety abort tunefs.ocfs2?
thanks

kernel BUG at /usr/src/ocfs2-1.2.1/fs/ocfs2/file.c:494!
Hi,
First of all, I'm new to ocfs2 and drbd.
I set up two identical servers (Athlon64, 1GB RAM, GB-Ethernet) with Debian Etch, compiled my own kernel (2.6.16.20),
then compiled the drbd-modules and ocfs (modules and tools) from source.
The process of getting everything up and running was very easy.
I have one big 140GB partition that is synced with drbd (in c-mode) and has an ocfs2

[PATCH] ocfs2: llseek requires to ocfs2 inode lock for the file in SEEK_END
llseek requires ocfs2 inode lock for updating the file size in SEEK_END.
because the file size maybe update on another node.
if it not . after call llseek in SEEK_END. the position is old.
this bug can be reproduce the following scenario:
at first ,we dd a test fileA,the file size is 10k.
on NodeA:
---------
1) open the test fileA, lseek the end of file. and print the position.
2) close the test

FIEMAP problem
Hi,
We are trying to use OCFS2 as VM storage. After running into problems with
qemu's disk_mirror feature we now think there could be a problem with the
FIEMAP ioctl in OCFS2.
As far as I understand the situation looks like this:
Qemu inquiries the FS if the given section of the image is already allocated
via the FIEMAP ioctl [1]
It especially checks if fm_mapped_extents is greater 0.

[PATCH] ocfs2: Fix data corruption after failed write
When buffered write fails to copy data into underlying page cache page,
ocfs2_write_end_nolock() just zeroes out and dirties the page. This can
leave dirty page beyond EOF and if page writeback tries to write this
page before write succeeds and expands i_size, page gets into
inconsistent state where page dirty bit is clear but buffer dirty bits
stay set resulting in page data never getting written

[PATCH 1/3] VFS/ioctl: Add punching-hole support to ioctl().
We're currently support two paths from VFS to preallocate unwritten
extents(from FS_IOC_RESVSP, or fallocate()), likewise, behavior of
punching-hole should be treated as the same, this patch tries to teach
file_ioctl() to handle FS_IOC_UNRESVSP, underlying filesystem like ocfs2
is wise enough to do the rest of work;-)
