[git patches] Ocfs2 and Configfs updates for 2.6.27
I'm running a bit late with the e-mail this time around, but I think that's ok since there really isn't any major new features here - the bulk of the Ocfs2 update is bug fixes, or cleanups. The same goes for configfs. The only two things that could be described as features would be: - Sunil has updated Ocfs2 to provide even more live cluster locking information via debugfs. - Joel

with heavy VM IO, clocksource causes random dom0 reboots
On Debian Squeeze (2.6.32-5) running Xen 4.0, I have created 2 Ubuntu Lucid Lynx (Ubuntu 10.04) vms. The vms, in a stress test, pass a large file between them via nfs file sharing. A previous entry in this forum helped to establish that some ethernet cards improve VM IO performance. However, our box installed with better intel nics is still rebooting under heavy VM IO loads. The kernel call

[PATCH] btrfs: fix d_off in the first dirent
Since the d_off in the first dirent for "." (that originates from the 4th argument "offset" of filldir() for the 2nd dirent for "..") is wrongly assigned in btrfs_real_readdir(), telldir returns same offset for different locations. | # mkfs.btrfs /dev/sdb1 | # mount /dev/sdb1 fs0 | # cd fs0 | # touch file0 file1 | # ../test | telldir: 0 | readdir: d_off = 2,

Problems building ocfs2-1.4.7 against Centos 5.3 and 2.6.30 kernel
Good morning, I'm trying to build ocfs2-1.4.7 against a Centos 5.3 distro with a 2.6.30 kernel. I get the following errors during compilation. make[1]: Entering directory `/root/src/ocfs2-1.4.7/fs' make -C ocfs2 stamp-md5 make[2]: Entering directory `/root/src/ocfs2-1.4.7/fs/ocfs2' make[2]: Leaving directory `/root/src/ocfs2-1.4.7/fs/ocfs2' make -C ocfs2/cluster stamp-md5

ext3 involved in kernel panic in 2.6.13?
Dual Opteron system running ext3 atop drbd (network RAID) devices, which, in turn, are atop LVM logical volumes. The underlying device is hardware SCSI RAID via a LSILogic HBA. The kernel is vanilla 2.6.13 on a Gentoo-based system. A panic occurred, which contains references to ext3 code. I'm not sure how others manage to get these typed out, but I'm manually typing it from

upcoming changes
Anyone tracking svn for the last week or so has probably noticed the large number of changes happening to the code base. We're making some disk format changes, so people tracking ocfs2 will also have to closely track ocfs-tools trunk. Also, be prepared to have to reformat your file systems :) As far as what we're actually doing -- we're (finally!) fixing the directory layout issues

Extended Attribute Support?
Hello, Any word on when extended attribute support will be added to OCFS2? What are the impediments to someone implementing this? Alternatively, has anyone implemented a patch to add extended attribute support to OCFS2? I've been watching the open source Lustre fs development, too. I noticed that they have added extended attribute support. However, OCFS2 is more attractive for some

Possibility for networkless installation (for long distance shared storage)
As we have fiber channel, and we have fiber connections, sometimes direct p-to-p, where we could run it into our fiber channel switch, and share a disk array over hundreds of feet, to hundreds of miles, but where servers wouldn't be able to talk via fast enough network connection, does (or will) ocfs2 support a mode where there is no network connection needed, and all voting, and cluster

OCFS2 on CentOS 4.5 for CRS/RAC
Hi, I sent an email to Mark Fisheh of Oracle Corp. & posted this issue at OTN under Linux thread this morning. I hope that someone among you might have experienced this and can help. On that basis, I am sending this to you too. I am stuck & will really appreciate if you can shed some light on this. Thanks. Anjan

Problems building OCFS2
I also sent this to OCFS2-devel but no response so far. So... I noticed that OCFS2 got updated in the last few days. I just tried to do a build and got this: [root@linuxjohn2 trunk]# make make -C src make[1]: Entering directory `/root/ocfs2/trunk/src' make[1]: *** No rule to make target `inc/io.h', needed by `alloc.c'. [PATCH] btrfs: add "no file data" flag to btrfs send ioctl
This patch adds the flag, BTRFS_SEND_FLAG_NO_FILE_DATA to the btrfs send ioctl code. When this flag is set, the btrfs send code will never write file data into the stream (thus also avoiding expensive reads of that data in the first place). BTRFS_SEND_C_UPDATE_EXTENT commands will be sent (instead of BTRFS_SEND_C_WRITE) with an offset, length pair indicating the extent in question. This patch
