10gR2, oifcfg fails on ocfs2
Howdy, I am trying to setup a 10gR2 RAC on top of some nbd devices. OS is Centos4.1/i386, (2.6.9-11.0.0.10.3.EL, ocfs2-2.6.9-11.0.0.10.3.EL-1.0.4-1). ocfs2 setup went perfectly well, btw. (besides the fact that ocfs2console apparently ignores nbd disks) mount says /dev/nbd1 on /opt/oradata/data1 type ocfs2 (rw,_netdev) on both nodes ls says (after runInstaller was started, so the files were

ocfs2 <-> 10G (10.2.01) Clusterware
RHEL 4 (CENT OS) Am I waisting my time trying to get the 10G Clusterware installer to use OCFS2 volumes for the voting and OCR disks ? The ocfs2 setup seems happy on both nodes but the 10G installer says the location entered for the oracle cluster registry (OCR) is not shared across all the nodes in the cluster Do the volumes need to mounted ? I did with no change . [root@green rc5.d]#

Is the order important when installing ocfs2 and Oracle RAC?
Is the order important when installing ocfs2 and Oracle RAC? If you have an existing RAC installation and you want to use ocfs2 for shared files but not for the OCR or Voting Disks, do you need to reinstall the Oracle Clusterware after installing OCFS2? Question about increasing node slots
We have a test 10gR2 RAC cluster using ocfs2 filesystems for the Clusterware files and the Database files. We need to increase the node slots to accomodate new RAC nodes. Is it true that we will need to umount these filesystems for the upgrade (i.e. Database and Clusterware also)? We are planning to use the following command format to perform the node slot increase: # tunefs.ocfs2 ?N 3

mixed environment / why is setting up an oracle cluster on windows so hard?
hello everybody I successfully installed a *very* small two node cluster with a shared volume on linux (both debian, one x86, one ARM [laugh not: NSLU2 :)]). before that, I tried to install the "clusterware" package on my windows xp box and it constantly complained about the three different ip addresses it wanted to see, then I got so frustrated with numerous manual hosts-file

Using rsync for buidling Oracle standbys.
Hi, We currently use rsync to create an Oracle standby on a target box from an existing standby by copying all the datafiles while the source standby is in recovery status. We are occasionally running into datafile corruptions being reported by oracle when it is recovering the new standby. Oracle support says they don't recommend copying files while the changes being applied to them unless

Question about terminology
I'm having a minor disagreement with a colleague over terminology. When you have a group of KVM Hosts which have access to the same network and storage (for purposes of migration) yet there is no clusterware or HA software involved...how does one refer to this group of hosts? I call them a "Host Group." He insists on the term "Cluster." To me, "cluster"

OCFS2 DLM problems
Hello everyone, once again. We are running into a problem, which has shown now 2 times, possible 3 (once the systems looked different.) The environment is 6 HP DL360/380 g5 servers with eth0 being the public interface, eth1 and bond0 (eth2 and eth3) used for clusterware and bond0 also used for OCFS2. The bond0 interface is in active/passive mode. There are no network errors counters showing and

Apply Function To Each Row of Matrix
Hi, I have a matrix with about 3000 rows, and 1 column. The contents of the matrix are stock symbols (IBM, AAPL, etc) for instance. I also have a function that takes a single stock symbol as an argument, parses the text of Google Finance and returns the related stock symbols that the page has listed into a CSV file. For example, IBM would return the following in a CSV file: rels 1 ORCL 2
