A couple more minor questions about OCFS and RHEL3
Oracle appears to have Wim chained in the basement, forced to answer mailing list questions at all hours. I do appreciate it. Our cluster has been stable since we installed RAC, but a few minor issues have me concerned. First, our storage array seems to maintain continuous low-level activity even when the database is shut down. The CPUs spend a modest amount of time in iowait state while this

Server crashed with Common/ocfsgencreate.c, Common/ocfsgenvote.c
Hi Experts, We have a 4nodes RAC running and recently one is down due to hardware (fibre optics card) failure. Since running on 3-nodes RAC, the surviving server just keep crashing. We cannot figure out why is this happening but checking /var/log/messages we have these error (notice the msg before crashing at 8:32): Dec 12 08:30:45 x335-142 kernel: (2) ERROR: file entry name did not match inode,

menu.c32 recycling?
Hi, I am trying to use menu.c32 with RHEL 4.2. Everything seems to work fine until menu.c32 loads. Just half a second before the menu draws I see a set of error messages like so: Unknown keyword in config file. Unknown keyword in config file. Missing parameter in config file. PE-2850 to AX100 via Qlogic Card (QLA200 HBA) on CentOS 4.1
Hi list, I have the choice to use RHEL4 or Centos4.x on a Dell PowerEdge2850 who is linked to an AX100 storage system. My question is: does the QLA200 (the pci fiber channel card) driver will work on CentOS 4.1 . For now the card is listed like this on CentOS 4.1: --- #lspci 09:04.0 Fibre Channel: QLogic Corp.: Unknown device 6312 (rev 03) --- What kind of modification must/can I do to the

How to get arcnet working with other-than-root accounts?
Hello! I've successfully gotten the arcnet driver compiled and installed into a Centos kernel. Admittedly, with a lot of help. Currently, I'm using the following script to get arcnet up and running: cd /usr/src/redhat/BUILD/kernel-2.6.9/linux-2.6.9/drivers/net/arcnet insmod arcnet.ko insmod arc-rawmode.ko insmod com20020.ko insmod com20020-pci.ko node=3 device=arc0 timeout=3

possible bug: OpenSSH appears to freeze on exit
Hello, I believe I may have discovered what appears to be a small anomoly in the way OpenSSH closes connections and thought if I gave you some feedback I might be able to make a very small contributution to the development of openssh. This might be a Solaris 2.6 anomoly or an openssh anomoly or a combination of both. I came across this apparent anomoly because we use openssh (via cron) here to

Odd errors while mounting an OCFS filesystem
Hello again. I am setting up a new pair of servers to run RAC. They're connected via fibre-channel to a hardware RAID array, and both are able to see the exposed LUNs. When I create an OCFS filesystem on one node with mkfs.ocfs, I can mount it. When I try to mount from the other node, however, it fails. After that, the filesystem is left in a state where neither node can mount it. The

File copy speed differences... writing to SAMBA is faster than reading from it??!
Here's an interesting thing I notice between NTSP3 and Linux 2.0.33+ w/samba 1.9.18p8 [TCP_NODELAY, read prediction on, SND and RCV buffers to 64k, though I've tried 16k, 32K, 64k, max size 2k, 4k, 8k, 16k, no difference] When I copy a file from any share to my NT's HD, I get perhaps 280KB/sec. When I copy from NT HD to Samba share, I get almost 1MB/sec. Doesn't matter where

runaway process in 3.0.21b
Hi! I'm running 3.0.21b on OpenBSD 3.8-stable (i386) with raidframe. Without any apparent cause one of the smbd child processes has started to badly leak memory (approx. 10Mb / minute) and possibly busy waiting, persistant across reboots. The server has been running flawlessly in production for over three months and absolutely nothing has changed on the server since it went into production.

Excessive files in a single folder.
I've got a Linux server with over 1.5 Million files in a single directory, which as you will probably agree is not a good idea. My problem is that the management refuses to accept that it's a bad idea to have that many files in a single directory. To make the problem worse, the folder in question is exported via Samba and NFS! Has anyone come across any references/documents that I could

RFC for new zfs replication tool
Please note: this is a "cross posting" of sorts, from a post I made; http://groups.google.com/group/comp.unix.solaris/browse_thread/thread/a8bd4aab3918b7a0/528dacb05c970748 It was suggested that I mention it here. so I am doing so. For convenience, here is mostly a duplicate of what I posted, with a couple of minor updates. Please note: I''m not asking for technical help on

[PATCH v2v v2 0/3] Use host-model
Version 1 was here: https://listman.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2023-February/thread.html#30694 I made a few changes in v2 but overall decided to keep the now unused gcaps_arch_min_version capability. This doesn't preclude removing it in future if we think it's never going to be useful. I changed patch 1 so that to remove the long comment about how the field is used, anticipating the
