Ocfs and EMC Powerpath
A couple years ago, we moved to Oracle RAC on Linux using ocfs that is SAN attached to an EMC CLARiiON. At the time, there was a reason that we did NOT use EMC's Powerpath (I just can't recall what that reason was). What I'd like to know is if there are any issues with introducing Powerpath now. * RHEL 2.1 AS * 2.4.9-e.38enterprise * ocfs-2.4.9-e-enterprise-1.0.13-1 * EMC

problem with OCFS label
I used this command to create volume label on OCFS: mkfs.ocfs -F -b 128 -L data13 -m /oradata/data13 -u oracle -g dba -p 0775 /dev/emcpowerp1 emcpowerp is composed of /dev/sdad and /dev/sdk. It seems the above command created the same labels for /dev/emcpowerp1, /dev/sdad1 and /dev/sdk1. But when I tried to mount this ocfs filesystem by label, it gave me the following error. # mount -L data13

ocfs issues with 9.2.0.3
I am starting to see a few issues with OCFS and 9.2.0.3 RAC on redHat Linux AS 2.1. Wondering if there is anyone out there experiencing similar issues... a few pointers to the issues.. 1. OCFS read/write performance is way lower than a read/write to a raw device.. i can give you some comparison numbers.. 2. Writes to shared disk with ocfs would get locked up by one server.. it doesnt have to

OCFS Performance on a Hitachi SAN
I've been reading this group for a while and I've noticed a variety of comments regarding running OCFS on top of path-management packages such as EMC's Powerpath, and it brought to mind a problem I've been having. I'm currently testing a six-node cluster connected to a Hitachi 9570V SAN storage array, using OCFS 1.0.12. I have six LUNs presented to the hosts using HDLM,

Lock contention issue with ocfs
I am still having this weird problem with nodes hanging while I'm running OCFS. I'm using OCFS 1.0.9-12 and RHAS 2.1 I've been working on tracking it down and here's what I've got so far: 1. I create a file from node 0. This succeeds; I can /bin/cat the file, append, edit, or whatever. 2. From node 1, I do an operation that accesses the DirNode (e.g. /bin/ls) 3. Node 0

[BUG] node 0 hangs until disk unmounted on node 1
I'm currently part of a project implementing Oracle eBusiness Suite 11i on RAC. We're using a two-node cluster with shared storage, both nodes are configured identical. Kernel is 2.4.9-e.27enterprise and ocfs is 1.0.9-11. I have checked and the shared storage can be accessed directly without any problems from both nodes (/dev/sdx). Curious if anyone has any suggestions or comments

Fwd: RE: OCFS Hang
Oh yeah - easy way to check, Randy: Next time your node hangs, get on the OTHER NODE and go into each directory where files are being opened (datafiles, archivelogs, controlefiles, redo logs, etc) and delete a file (you can create one first then delete it). If this causes the hung node to recover then you're having the same problem I was having. Jeremy >>> "Jeremy

How to mount OCFS2 file systems using the EMC Power Path multipath device
OEL 5, OCFS 1.4, using EMC Power Path for multi pathing. I want t mount the OCFS2 file system on the emc power path device. I can mount by UUID, and not have to worry about persistent bindings across nodes. But how do I make sure when it mounts by UUID , that the pwoer path device is used. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks -- Sridhar Avantsa savantsa at gmail.com -------------- next

ORA-01207 after SAN maintenance
We had a situation over the weekend with our production database that we can't figure out, hoping someone can shed some light. Specifics: Oracle 9.2.0.4 OS is Redhat AS2.1 ocfs-2.4.9-e-summit-1.0.12-1 ocfs-tools-1.0.10-1 ocfs-support-1.0.10-1 ocfs-2.4.9-e-enterprise-1.0.12-1 All database, redo, undo, and control files are on ocfs, archived logs are on ext3. We shut down the database for san

upcoming changes
Anyone tracking svn for the last week or so has probably noticed the large number of changes happening to the code base. We're making some disk format changes, so people tracking ocfs2 will also have to closely track ocfs-tools trunk. Also, be prepared to have to reformat your file systems :) As far as what we're actually doing -- we're (finally!) fixing the directory layout issues

EMC CX4 Clariion
Hi, We had received a new EMC storage (Clariion CX4) and the EMC analist has told us that CentOS aren't on their support list, but RHEL are :) Well anybody on the list has a CentOS host talking (iSCSI) with an EMC storage, preferably using the EMC Powerpath software, and can talk about you experience? Or I will need to buy some REHL licenses ? I'll put my hands on it only next
