OCFS2 on CentOS 4.5 for CRS/RAC
Hi,
I sent an email to Mark Fisheh of Oracle Corp. & posted this issue at OTN under Linux thread this morning. I hope that someone among you might have experienced this and can help. On that basis, I am sending this to you too. I am stuck & will really appreciate if you can shed some light on this.
Thanks.

OCFS disk failure problem.
Hi,
Irecently setup a Oracle 10g RAC test environment with two HP/Compaq
DL380s and a shared disk array. The array is presented as a single 136GB
disk.
The systems are running RedHat AS 3.0 Update 4.
OCFS 1.0.13-PROD1 build: 5e87201061935f464cf6541c56eb2827
Oracle 10g 10.1.0.3.0
I was able to get everything working, had a database created and
running an instance on each system.

Problems building OCFS2
I also sent this to OCFS2-devel but no response so far. So...
I noticed that OCFS2 got updated in the last few days.
I just tried to do a build and got this:
[root@linuxjohn2 trunk]# make
make -C src
make[1]: Entering directory `/root/ocfs2/trunk/src'
make[1]: *** No rule to make target `inc/io.h', needed by `alloc.c'.
Stop.

upcoming changes
Anyone tracking svn for the last week or so has probably noticed the large
number of changes happening to the code base.
We're making some disk format changes, so people tracking ocfs2 will also
have to closely track ocfs-tools trunk. Also, be prepared to have to
reformat your file systems :)
As far as what we're actually doing -- we're (finally!) fixing the
directory layout issues

question about oracle shared home install
Hi All,
Scenario: I'm trying to install 9i rac on a 2 node cluster on OCFS2
OS: Oracle enterprise linux
To my understanding, OCFS2 supports shared home installs which to my
knowledge is not only can i have datafile and control files but also
clustermanager files and binaries (pretty much everything: no files or
executables need to kept local to any nodes). I have one single shared
file for

ORACM upgrade question - ORA-29702
Hi:
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post. I've just joined some of
these lists following OOW 2003.
I had a cluster db working sporadically, but now it won't start after
upgrading my oracm from 9.2.0.1.0.31 to 9.2.0.2.0.41 on both nodes.

Possibility for networkless installation (for long distance shared storage)
As we have fiber channel, and we have fiber connections, sometimes direct
p-to-p, where we could run it into our fiber channel switch, and share a
disk array over hundreds of feet, to hundreds of miles, but where servers
wouldn't be able to talk via fast enough network connection, does (or will)
ocfs2 support a mode where there is no network connection needed, and all
voting, and cluster

GFS
Hi,
Can anyone shed light on Linux's Global File System in RHEL 4 please? It looks like Oracle's OCFS. Is there any relationship between them? If they are different things, has anyone done any performance comparison please?
Thanks and regards.

Memory leak in ocfs2/dlm?
Hi!
Seems we're facing some memory leak here. This is vanilla 2.6.19-rc6
on a x86_64 box, 4GB RAM.
A simple `ls -Rn' on a filesystem with lots of files makes the box
leak so much RAM that the OOM killer starts to kick in. With slab
alloc debugging turned on, we see this:
# mount; ls -Rn; wait some seconds; Ctrl-C
[root@lnxp-1038:/backend1]$ cat /proc/slab_allocators | egrep

Oracle 9i RAC on OCFS2
Hi,
I'm setting up a 2-node Oracle 9i RAC on OCFS2.
But I have some problems with understanding how the shared Oracle_Home
is being used.
For instance there is the *$ORACLE_HOME/oracm/admin/cmcfg.ora* file. The
$ORACLE_HOME is on
the SAN so the 2 nodes have access to this file. How will the settings
then be done per node?
Is there a guide/tutorial/howto for installing Oracle 9i RAC on

Friends,
I am doing a URL classification, based on certain key words whether it
contains an executive information or not. I have already went through 50K
URL's and identified the key words and made it as 0, 1 ( 0 - do not have
the key word and 1 - have the key word) and 0- do not contain executive
information 1 - contains executive information.

Why OCFS2 with RAC
I have been a user of OCFS2 for quite some time now (2 years or so)
and a user of Oracle RAC for several years as well. My usage of
these two is completely independent though, the cluster filesystem is
for application level usage (web servers, etc.) only because RAC can
manage its own shared storage directly. And that brings me to my
observation/question...
I keep seeing a lot of messages

10gR2, oifcfg fails on ocfs2
Howdy,
I am trying to setup a 10gR2 RAC on top of some nbd devices. OS is
Centos4.1/i386, (2.6.9-11.0.0.10.3.EL, ocfs2-2.6.9-11.0.0.10.3.EL-1.0.4-1).
ocfs2 setup went perfectly well, btw. (besides the fact that
ocfs2console apparently ignores nbd disks)
mount says
/dev/nbd1 on /opt/oradata/data1 type ocfs2 (rw,_netdev)
on both nodes
ls says (after runInstaller was started, so the files were

Connecting to Oracle8i
Hi All,
I have a problem in connecting to oracle and here is the steps i''ve been
going through (i''m using the regular oracle8 client, not the instant
one):
1. i installed the one-click ruby installer (ruby184-16p3 windows.exe)
2. i installed the rails-1.0.0 framework using gem successfully
3. i tried connecting to oracle using all possible combination in the
database.yml file
