[Gluster-devel] Glusterfs and Structured data

Another guideline we can provide is to disable all performance xlators for workloads requiring strict metadata consistency (even for non gluster-block usecases like native fuse mount etc). Note that we might still can have few perf xlators turned on. But, that will require some experimentation. The safest and easiest would be to turn off following xlators:

[Gluster-devel] Integration of GPU with glusterfs
It is disappointing to see the limitation being put by Nvidia on low cost GPU usage on data centers.
https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/01/03/nvidia_server_gpus/
We thought of providing an option in glusterfs by which we can control if we want to use GPU or not.
So, the concern of gluster eating out GPU's which could be used by others can be addressed.

I want to write a python script and visual interface to manage glusterfs, such as creating and deleting volumes. This can be easier to manage glusterfs?
But,now ,I execute the glusterfs command using python's subprocess.popen function?such as subprocess.Popen(GLUSTER_CMD, shell=True,stdout=subprocess.PIPE, stderr=subprocess.PIPE)......
But this does not feel like a good program, Because it has

Healing in glusterfs 3.3.1
Hi,
I have a glusterfs 3.3.1 setup with 2 servers and a replicated volume used
by 4 clients.
Sometimes from some clients I can't access some of the files. After I force
a full heal on the brick I see several files healed. Is this behavior
normal?
Thanks

Who's using OpenStack Cinder & Gluster? [ Was Re: [Gluster-devel] Fwd: Re: GlusterFS removal from Openstack Cinder]
Joe,
Agree with you on turning this around into something more positive.
One aspect that would really help us decide on our next steps here is the
actual number of deployments that will be affected by the removal of the
gluster driver in Cinder. If you are running or aware of a deployment of
OpenStack Cinder & Gluster, can you please respond on this thread or to me

Gluster native mount is really slow compared to nfs
Hello,
?
?
While there are probably other interesting parameters and options in gluster itself, for us the largest difference with this speedtest and also for our website (real world performance) was the negative-timeout value during mount. Only 1 seems to solve so many problems, is there anyone knowledgeable why this is the case??
?
This would better be default I suppose ...?

[CentOS 6] Upgrade to the glusterfs version in base or in glusterfs-epel
Hi,
I'm using glusterfs version 3.4.0 from gluster-epel[1].
Recently, I find out that there's a glusterfs version in base repo
(3.4.0.36rhs).
So, is it recommend to use that version instead of gluster-epel version?
If yes, is there a guide to make the switch with no downtime?
When run yum update glusterfs, I got the following error[2].
I found a guide[3]:

Hi Mohammad,
A lot of time is being spent in addressing metadata calls as expected. Can
you consider testing out with 3.11 with md-cache [1] and readdirp [2]
improvements?
Adding Poornima and Raghavendra who worked on these enhancements to help
out further.
Thanks,
Vijay
