[3.0.2] booster + unfsd failed
Hi list. I have been testing with glusterfs-3.0.2. glusterfs mount works well. unfsd on glusterfs mount point works well too. When using booster, unfsd realpath check failed. But ls util works well. I tried 3.0.0-git head source build but result was same. My System is Ubuntu 9.10 and using unfsd source from official gluster download site. Any comment appreciated!! - kpkim root at

rlimit sandbox on cygwin
Hi all. I have an old windows VM with an oldish cygwin that I use for the regression tests. Investigating one of the test failures, I see that it's for UsePrivilegeSeparation=sandbox, and it seems to be because setrlimit(RLIMIT_FSIZE, ...) is not supported. IMO, this isn't a big loss, since the most useful thing in the rlimit "sandbox" is the descriptor limits. Can anyone see

Ulimit problem - CentOS 5.10
Running across some curious stuff with ulimit on CentOS 5.10. We have a non CentOS packaged version of Asterisk (using their packages) that we start at boot time with a typical RC script. Recently it started whining that it couldn't open enough file handles. As we dug further into this, it appears that at boot time, it inherits ulimit from init, which is pretty low: 1024. We've set

Processes launched from rc*.d and ulimit -n
I'm running fedora directory server on some boxes in a multi-master arrangement. The problem is that when dirsrv is lauched from init (on boot) the maximum number of allowed file descriptors (ulimit -n) is only 4096. That means that the slapd process can only accept ~4k connections, and it needs to accept ~10k or so. The value for nofile for all users in /etc/security/limits.conf (and

ulimit -n in start-script
Hi! Even on midrange-systems it's necessary to set "ulimit -n" to a higher value then the system default of 1024. I'd prefer having this already prepared: In /etc/defaults/dovecot we should add: # Set amount of "open files" / ulimit -n ULIMIT_OPEN_FILES=16884 In /etc/init.d/dovecot we should add: # Set amount of open files / ulimit -n [ -n

permanent ulimit -n on CentOS 3.4
Hi! Question from the novice. I have to permanently increase number of opened files ( ulimit -n 16384 and ulimit -Hn 16384) for some application. I did custom kernel based on https://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/RHEL-3-Manual/sysadmin-guide/s1-custom-kernel-modularized.html and application documentation ( written for RH 9), no error during all makes but I have panic during the

How do I fix this: master: Warning: fd limit (ulimit -n) is lower than required
I get this when I reload dovecot after any changes. How can I fix it? I can?t find any reference to it anywhere. master: Warning: fd limit (ulimit -n) is lower than required under max. load (256 < 1000), because of default_client_limit thanks Robert

How do I fix this: master: Warning: fd limit (ulimit -n) is lower than required
Yes,tried a range from 100 to 1000, but the warning still happens, with varying outputs saying its either over or under. I'm looung for a way to set the limit when dovecot starts, or as part of the startup process actually. ----- From my iPhone. > On 16 May 2015, at 1:54 pm, Edgar Pettijohn III <edgar at pettijohn-web.com> wrote: > > >> On May 16, 2015, at 4:10 AM,

ulimit -n ignored/ Max files reached
I am having a problem with running utorrent on wine. After running for a little while I eventually get: Error: Too many files open. I have set ulimit -n unlimited which gives me: Code: root@???: 02:43 AM :~# ulimit -n 1048576 root@???: 02:43 AM :~# Also its got plenty of file descriptors so it doesn't seem like wine is truly using up to that amount: Code: root@???: 02:43 AM

Automatic Differentiation for R
In efforts to improve optimization tools for R, one of my interests has been getting automatic differentiation capabilities so that analytic rather than numerical derivatives can be used. They would be helpful in several other areas besides optimization, My timings show factors of the order of 1000s in time improvements by avoiding numerical derivatives in some cases. There has been some work in

[PATCH] increase fd_limit to max_client_limit automatically
Hi, with a low soft limit on file descriptors, dovecot 2.2.15 warns on startup: Warning: fd limit (ulimit -n) is lower than required under max. load (256 < 1000), because of default_client_limit It could try increasing the limit first, and only report the warning if that fails. I'm attaching a patch that does just this. Without the patch, the soft fd limit is kept at whatever it

openssh2.3.0p1 and /etc/limits
Hi! I wrote a small patch to enable /etc/limits support in openssh. nice thing when you don't have PAM installed.. It is based on Ultor's openssh 1.x patch (http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=secure-shell&m=96427677022741&w=2) Works fine on slackware7.1. define USE_ETC_LIMITS in config.h , and compile as usual.
