Slow read performance
Help please-
I am running 3.3.1 on Centos using a 10GB network. I get reasonable write speeds, although I think they could be faster. But my read speeds are REALLY slow.
Executive summary:
On gluster client-
Writes average about 700-800MB/s
Reads average about 70-80MB/s
On server-
Writes average about 1-1.5GB/s
Reads average about 2-3GB/s
Any thoughts?

question about list directory missing files or hang
Hi Gluster experts,
I'm new to glusterfs and I have encountered a problem about list directory
of glusters 3.3.
I have a volume configuration of 3(distribute) * 2(replica). When write
file on the glusterfs client mount directory some of the files can't be
listed through ls command but the file exists. Some times the ls command
hangs.
Any one know what's the problem is?
Thank you

proposed new doco for "Gluster 3.1: Installing GlusterFS on OpenSolaris"
Hi all
Reference: http://support.zresearch.com/community/documentation/index.php/Gluster_3.1:_Installing_GlusterFS_on_OpenSolaris
I have found this guide to be too brief/terse, and have endeavoured to improve it via more of a recipie/howto approach - and possibly misunderstood the intent of the brief directions in the process.
Please advise if there are any errors?

GlusterFS compared to KosmosFS (now called cloudstore)?
Hi.
I'm evaluating GlusterFS for our DFS implementation, and wondered how it
compares to KFS/CloudStore?
These features here look especially nice (
http://kosmosfs.sourceforge.net/features.html). Any idea what of them exist
in GlusterFS as well?
Regards.

GlusterFS on a FreeBSD-Server
Hello
I want to use GlusterFS as a nfs substitute for a FreeBSD Server and
Linux clients.
The FreeBSD-server should export several directories. One of these
directories contains the home-directory for the client-mashines.
The problem is that my GlusterFS setup isn't very stable and crashes
quite often. It is less stable, when more than one volume is mounted,
but even when only one volume is

help, glusterfs test caused very high tcp segment retransmission rate
Hi,

I found the aggregated IO speed is only about 100MB/s on 4 Giga-bit Brick. This test is done over 12 computing nodes with command dd if=/dev/zero of=bar bs=1048576 count=20480. Because our brick has very fast local IO speed, the problem could be network.
Then I found computing nodes got too many retransmited segments during test according to netstat -st. The retransmission ratio is

Mount point problem
I just had to deal with a situation where a glusterfs filesystem would
not mount because someone had managed to create some files and
directories under the mount point. Perhaps this behavior is
intentional, but I would prefer that it work like NFS and just
overmount. When bringing a cluster down and back up, it is quite
possible for overeager users to log in and start working before

My ignorance and Fuse (or glusterfs)
I have a very simple test setup of 2 servers each working as a glusterfs-server and glusterfs-client to the other in an afr capacity.
The gluster-c and gluster-s both start up with no errors and are handshaking properly..
One one server, I get the expected behaviour: I touch a file in the export dir and it magically appears in the others mount point. On the other server however, the file

gluster over infiniband....
Hey guys,
I am running gluster over infiniband, and I have a couple of questions.
We have four servers, each with 1 disk that I am trying to access over infiniband using gluster. The servers look like they start okay, here are the last 10 or so lines of a client log (they are all identical):

TCP/IP Settings
Hi everyone,
I am currently converting my AoE/GFS setup over to GlusterFS. So far I have been very impressed with Gluster and am loving it's ease of use. I wrestled with GFS for days, and still do too much IMO. ;)
I had a question about TCP/IP settings. I know Infiniband as interconnects would give us the best performance, but we currently do not have the budget to upgrade everything, so I
