Vista Issues with samba
We have Samba setup for our shared drive. I have pasted the smb.conf file below. Everything is working well accept when we try and run an EXE file using Windows Vista. When we run an EXE file it first ask for UAC control then it pops up the username and password prompt. You must then type your username and password in again before it will run. I think the issues is that UAC is now running the

BIND9_DLZ CNAME Records Not Resolving from Windows Workstations
Hello, In an effort to get MX and CNAME records working, I have migrated from Samba's internal DNS to bind9_dlz. I am now seeing strange behavior where CNAME records resolve correctly on the S4 DC, but not from workstations. Please see the case below where I have foo.internal.testdom.com aliased to google.com using a CNAME record. I do not understand why this is occurring This should work,

sshd Match Group directive problem

Hello list, I am using the Microsoft ADUC (Active Directory Users & Computers) tool from the RSAT suite for creating and modifying my domain users. I am aware of the "copy" functionality which really is very nice to use. Unfortunately I am missing two important actions during the user-creation process which I try to describe: 1.) NT-Domain - Can I use LDAP?
We are using Samba4 in NT mode. We have an application that can pull usernames - great! What we need as well though is to import other fields saved in Samba for the users. For example, Email Address, and Full Name. Is it possible, without causing interruption to service, to connect with an LDAP query string to get this information, if it is not already setup for LDAP? I am running on Debian

qemu sdl parameters via libvirt
Hello List, I run a few VMs via libvirt using '--sdl'. I would like to use qemu parameters -no-quit, -no-frame and -ctrl-grab with libvirt. Does libvirt support a way to use these qemu parameters? Does libvirt provide a way to add these options under <graphics/> in the domain.xml using 'virsh edit domain.xml'? My current <graphics/> is as follows: <graphics

Making Samba 3.2.3 and ACL work
Hello! I'm running samba 3.2.3 on my Ubuntu 8.10 server installation. I'm trying to use ACL in order to get extended user permission administration, but cannot make it work. My samba shares are on a ext3 partition, and i have enabled ACL in fstab. setting and getting ACL permissions on my files directly works like a charm. But when my users try to access files via samba they cannot

Cygwin build fails because headers no longer default to Solaris ACL
Unfortunately I don't know how to write AC macros to properly solve this problem but Cygwin does not (any longer) include cygwin/acl.h from sys/acls.h which is required for Solaris ACL data structures to work. So the CASE statement improperly short-circuits the logic. I have confirmed that Rsync builds using POSIX ACLs but haven't tested said functionality. diff --git a/configure.ac

BackupPc_nightly crashing with Perl chdir errors
Hi all. I have been reading the list archives and can't seem to find anything that relates to these errors. BackupPC_nightly fails to delete any files, and reports the pool and cpool at zero size. The nightly run as currently configured should be deleting a ton of files (only one hardlink) but it deletes nothing, and so the drive is now 100% and staying there. I have adjusted the conf

Winbind & Samba 2.2.7a on FreeBSD
Hello all, I've got a weird problem with a fresh install of Samba from the FreeBSD ports collection (btw. the BSD-box is also a fresh 4.7 Stable install). Configured Samba 2.2.7a - without cups - with winbind - with winbind-auth - with audit so far, the installation seemed to work fine... Then I copied the libnss_winbind.so to /usr/lib and softlinked it to /usr/local/lib as well as to the
