Converting non-32-bit integers from python to R to use bit64: reticulate
Dear R Developers,
There is an interesting issue related to "reticulate" R package which
discusses how to convert Python's non-32 bit integers to R, which has had
quite an exhaustive discussion:
https://github.com/rstudio/reticulate/issues/323
Python seems to handle integers differently from R, and is dependant on the
system arquitecture: On 32 bit systems uses 32-bit integers,

ggplot2-barplot
Hi all:
I have been using ggplot2 graphics for quite some time now and I really like it. However, I haven't used barplots enough to understand the arquitecture behind it. Can someone show me how to make this simple barplot graph with ggplot2? I want "PondName" along the x axis and "avgWt" along the Y axis which represents the avgWt by each Pond.
PondName avgWt

ntlm_auth NT_STATUS_INVALID_WORKSTATION Question
Hi all,
I have samba4.2 (Version 4.2.0pre1-GIT-6d2f56d) as AD domain controller.
Some users can only logon to specific window workstation. Now, we want to
configure the samba AD as the user authentication of squid. I use the
following configuration in squid. The users without workstation limitation
can successfully authenticate to squid, but the user with workstation
limitation cannot.

Greetings - On a RHEL6 system, Samba 4.2.1 compiles without any apparent

ODP: Re: freeradius + NTLM + samba AD 4.5.x
Hello,
I can definately confirm that it's working.
My basic setup is:
1) Samba 4.7.6 AD DC (2 of them), compiled from source, on centos 7
2) Freeradius 3.0.13 + samba 4.6.2 as domain member, packages straight
from centos repo. // I tested also on freeradius 3.0.14 and samba 4.7.x
smb.conf on the DC is pretty basic, most important is obviously in

Converting non-32-bit integers from python to R to use bit64: reticulate
Thank you Gabriel for valuable insights on the 64-bit integers topic.
In addition, my statement was wrong, as Python3 seems to have unlimited
(and variable) size integers. Here is related CPython Code:
https://github.com/python/cpython/blob/master/Objects/longobject.c
Division between Int-32 and Int-64 seems to only happen in Python2.
Best,
Juan

[SamLogon, network] vs [Kerberos KDC, ENC-TS Pre-authentication]
Hi,
This is just curiosity.
We are monitoring failed logons, and there seem to be three types:
- LDAP,simple bind/TLS
(obious, failed ldap logons)
and these two:
- SamLogon,network
- Kerberos KDC,ENC-TS Pre-authentication
Could someone explain what (the difference between) these two types is?
Google doesn't really seem to help.

Win2k Domain logons
Hi everyone. I just got a copy of Win2k in and have been messing with it.
Have a question, and have searched the archives for the answer, but didn't
find it. Can Win2k domain logon to a pre-3.0.0 samba server? Or di I
need to get TNG running? I can get NT4.0 boxes to authenticate and login
fine (Samba pre-3.0.0), but Win2k keeps complaining:

No, that would be SamLogon,interactive.
SamLogon, network is NTLM authentication accessing another server in the
domain (in general).

Samba4 and Freeradius
Hello,
i've configured a new freeradius server for WLAN authentication. My
radius server is a domain member on my samba 4.7.12 ADDC. For my mschap

NT_STATUS_ACCOUNT_LOCKED_OUT
I'm having a very annoying problem I can't figure out. I've been running Samba4 as our office
AD/DC for several years. This is a recent problem.
Whenever I Remote Desktop into a particular Windows workstation (192.168.0.4) I get the
following message in /var/log/samba/log.samba:

Can join domain; can't logon
I had a problem similar to my current one a week or so ago, and I was
encouraged to upgrade from Samba 2.2.9 to 3.0.7, which I did. Now
that I've completed that nightmare, the problem I initially set out to
fix is still there, just different. Namely:
I am trying to set up Samba 3.0.7 on a SuSE 9.1 box as an LDAP PDC
whose only job will be authentication. Our LDAP server is on a

ODP: Re: freeradius + NTLM + samba AD 4.5.x
ok, tested it, and it works.
so to summarize:
on samba ad 4.7.x in smb.conf "ntlm auth" is set to "mschapv2-and-ntlmv2-only"
fr + samba domain member (4.6 and 4.7) in mods-available/mschap you have to add to ntlm_auth --allow-mschapv2 to the whole string OR just use winbind method, which sets correct flag without explicitly adding it.
with those settings ntlmv1 is blocked

Can I make spss.get reencode from Windows-1252?
Hi all. I have an SPSS file that I'm loading into R with the Hmisc spss.get function. The trouble is that the SPSS file uses the Windows-1252 character set (which I think is the default for SPSS on Windows) instead of plain-ol' Latin-1, and since spss.get doesn't allow me to pass the "reencode" option to read.spss, any characters in Windows-1252 that are not a part of Latin-1

squid ntlm_auth not working on versions above 3.0.26
Hello. I am using squid with ntlm authentication against a samba PDC. It has worked for me perfectly in debian etch with samba version 3.0.24, and ubuntu Gutsy with samba 3.0.26a.
But when I have upgraded those servers to hardy (samba 3.0.28a) and lenny (3.2.3), thn sqwuid auth has stopped working, without any other config change.
Squid version I am using is 2.6-STABLE17, and . I am using the
