Listing shared printers
I need to be even more clear it seems. I can only do the Unix (AIX) side. I have no resource kit available and a quick look on the net doesn't seem to render any downloadable share.vbs scripts. Besides (if well documented and well written) giving me info on the flow of code on how to list shared printers on remote windows hosts a Windows script won't do me much good. Preferrebly

Printer listings
Ah, yes. My mistake. I should have been more specific about that of course. First of all thank you L.P.H. van Belle for your quick reply. The thing is, I can't actually install the smbclient on the system I need to list the printers on. It would be too big for what it needs to do. All I need is a small app that lists printers on a remote windows system (usually windows 2000 but it can

cut-off time for rsync ?

However, that'll keep a backup for every > time that you run it, by link-desting yesterday's copy. The goal was not to reduce storage, it was to reduce work. A full rsync takes more than the whole night, and the destination server is almost unusable for anything else when it

cut-off time for rsync ?
Hi, I used to rsync a /home with thousands of home directories every night, although only a hundred or so would be used on a typical day, and many of them have not been used for ages. This became too large a burden on the poor old destination server, so I switched to a script that uses "find -ctime -7" on the source to select recently used homes first, and then rsyncs only those. (A

Documents in home folder 'Read Only'
My user is logged in to the Samba Server. smb.conf has the following: [homes] comment = Home Directories read only = No create mask = 0775 directory mask = 0775 browseable = No writeable = Yes The files in the user's home directory are set to chmod 777. What do I need to do to enable the user to write to her Directory?

XP Pro password change problem
I've set up NT domains from scratch and things work. However, in this case I vampired the old settings over to my new Samba PDC from a W2K server which I then removed from the network. Everything almost works, except ... The main thing is that I can't seem to change the domain passwords from the XP Pro workstations. Normally you do Ctrl-Alt-Del and select change password, then fill

cut-off time for rsync ?
> What is taking time, scanning inodes on the destination, or recopying the entire > backup because of either source read speed, target write speed or a slow interconnect > between them? It takes hours to traverse all these directories with loads of small files on the backup server. That is the limiting factor. Not even copying: just checking the timestamp and size of the old copies.

[LLVMdev] Cygwin binaries
I'm building on cygwin. But the procedure for building the front-end on Cygwin is a bit daunting, to say the least,. Does anyone know a source for a pre-built version of the same?

Share Access
Could someone help me understand if what I'm seeing with share access is correct? On my samba domain I have two users (user1 and user2) and one share; the share has attribute "writelist = user1". On a linux machine I: mount the share with "mount -t cifs -o username=user1" successfully open a file in the share for writing with the perl "open" function

samba roaming profiles not working
I've been at this for hours now and am still not getting it to work. I've been through the lists trying to find an answer and so far as I can tell, everything is configured OK. Obviously it's not, but I'm stuck. I recently installed Squeeze on my home server, overwriting a Lenny installation. I've been able to add my NT (Windows XP/Pro) domain accounts back in and pdbedit

A new .xxx domain suffix for sexual content is becoming available. n-levels of nested resources in REST?
Hi, I find it would be very convenient to nest resources in two levels, so a member is only sensible as a part of a club, and a fee pament is only sensible in the context of a club and a member. Is it possible to nest nested resources? How would the syntax be? I have tried just nesting the assignment in routes.rb, but failed to get it right What do ou think? Is it possible? /Fredrik --

Domain logins not working
I'm trying to set up a new server to replace my previous domain controller/file&print server on my home network. My old server was running Debian/Etch on a 32bit sempron system with two HDs. The new one is running an old 64bit single-core processor and 3 HDs configured into multiple RAID 1 and 5 arrays (/boot as RAID 1 and /, /home, swap and a /backup directory as RAID 5). The new server

OpenVPN tunnel and one-way audio - Do I still need a SIP proxy?
Hi Everyone, I have setup an OpenVPN tunnel between Server A (running Asterisk) and Server B suppling it's SIP Phones with DHCP pool of IPs. So, the tunnel is established nicely and everyone can ping others. "sip show peers" shows the local subnet of the SIP Phones registered (192.168.100.0/24 ). But there is the old bad one-way audio. Calls also drop after few seconds. In the SIP

[newbie] This Month / Next Month / The One After That
What I want to do is simple. I''d like code that prints out the name of this month (January) the next month (February) and the one after that (March) I''ve been able to print this month: <% t = Time.now %> <%= t.strftime(" This Month is: %B") %> But I can''t figure out how to get the next months to print out! -- Posted via
