Icecast2 Win32: any way to minimize on start orrunas a service?
You could always run this as a service using Microsoft's tools from the NT 3.5 Resource Kit. The two tools you need are srvany.exe and instsrv.exe. I've used this many times on Win2k with no problems. You can download the resource kit from Microsoft here: ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/winnt/winnt-public/reskit/nt35/i386/i386.exe And there is an article about how to set it up here:

is the domain admin password stored on the local machine?
I just wanted to know if the domain admin password is stored on the local machine, when that machine joins the domain? Or is it just used to authenticate, and it is not stored anywhere on the workstation? -- Tomek

How Is Administrator Treated?
I have a couple of Samba 2.2 servers, in different locations, configured as NT Domain Controllers, but I'm experiencing some problems with logging on to the domains as Administrator in order to perform some administration tasks, such as configuring antivirus software on workstations. I won't go into the details here; I think the basic problem is my lack of understanding of how the

User Management / Samba 3.0.1 LDAP / USERMGR.EXE problems
Hello, I'm using Samba 3.0.1 with LDAP backend running as a PDC here. When I start up usrmgr.exe from Windows NT, it will read all the users (or computers, for srvmgr.exe) in the domain and report them back correctly. However, whomever I am logged in as ( including gid 512 users) it will not let me see details or change anything. In the logs after trying to view a users details I will

Hi Gents, (apologizes, new here...) I didn't find any hint on G**gle nor in the Dovecot archieve (maybe due to the lack of a search function :), so: I installed Doovecot, but can't get it going. WG: Windows vista ultimate samba 3.0.31
I found the solution: I tried the srvmgr tool from microsoft to get connected to my samba 3 domain (from an XP client). And this tool told me the same "There is no PDC found for your domain. You may go on but but your rights may be Restricted." As I logged on I saw that both my PDC and BDC where BDCs. I stopped my BDC. Logged on to my PDC and remembering that I had also smbd4wins

All, I built and installed 3.0.7. I am trying to finalize my setup by limiting the user to 3 failed logon attempts. I used: ./pdbedit -P "bad lockout attempt" -C 3 This works fine for all users EXCEPT for the user with a matching Windows user name. In other words, if my windows user name is 'bender' and my samba user name is 'bender' the number of Bad logon attempts will
