frustrating - which ppd for win clients
I have had terrible luck trying to find a ppd that works correctly for both win9x clients and winNT/2000/XP at the same time. The CUPS method is to find one ppd that works for all and I have tried several: those at linuxprinting.org, hp's sourceforge site, vendor winNT ppds (docs suggest these), and vendor win98 ppds. I have tried filtering PJL and not filtering PJL. I have the stock

WG: parsing fix for spoolss & samba-2.2.5
I can only confirm, that the bug still there (since version 2.2.3). I also have exactly the same problem. With samba version 2.2.2 was OK. I will be fantastic, if someone can help to fix it. Thanks! Add Printer Wizard and Slowness
Hello all, We have a Samba box set up as our primary campus print server, running CUPS 1.1.19 and Samba 3.3.0. Our primary interface for adding printers is the Add Printer Wizard. I am finding very slow response while adding/modifying/deleting printers. Making changes to any of the settings for a printer (default tray, driver, etc) can take 20-40 seconds or will sometimes timeout, requiring a

add x64 printer drivers with cupsaddsmb fail
Hello, I have set up a cups print server and would like to offer Point'n'Print functionnality for the windows computer clients. So, i've followed informations from the man page of cupsaddsmb as resumed below: -configure smb.conf -add x86 and x64 PS drivers (from x86 and x64 windows 2008 installs). -add x86 and x64 CUPS drivers (from cups SVN) I then launch cupsaddsmb using the

Got cupsaddsmb working but the client PC download of the printer drivers fails for 3 out 4 PCs tested so far!
I have built a new CUPS print server on Ubuntu 8.04 server for our office (used apt-get to download the CUPS v 1.3.7 and Samba v3.0.28a packages) as a replacement for our existing Suse CUPS print server and I want to use the cupsaddsmb tool to set up printer drivers for download by PCs rather than using the Add Printer Wizard method which we have used on our older CUPS print server. cupsaddsmb not working after upgrade to Lenny (rpcclient -> WERR_INVALID_PARAM)
Dear list, I've upgraded my server from Etch to Lenny and now the printer (HP LaserJet 6P) does not work any more through Samba. Printing a testpage via http://server:631 works perfectly so I skip giving details about the CUPS setup. Also lpstat reports the printer working # lpstat -a HP_LaserJet_6P accepting requests I tried to rerun cupsaddsmb. The driver files are copied to the

Samba 2.2.5 printing problems
Hi all, I'm having problems getting SPOOLSS support working correctly. (Samba 2.2.5 on FreeBSD 4.5.) Often when viewing settings on the shared printers, I get a wonderful 'illegal operation' error in either explorer.exe or spoolsvs.exe (many things seem to trigger this error - especially attempting to select additional drivers). Secondly, when things don't crash, I am able to

Hi, Samba list readers, I am forwarding these mails from one of the Linuxprinting.org lists to you (with the $SUBJECT changed by me), because surely some of you must have been bitten by this too.... This problem is verified on W2K (but not yet for NT/ME/XP/9x). Cheers, Kurt ################# problem description by Elena Khan #################### -------- Original Message -------- To:

AW: AW: duplex settings [ was Re: parsing fix for spoolss & s amba-2.2.5]
Hello Jerry Of course, here the Details: Samba2.2.6pre2 is running on a Sun Sparc Solaris 8 machine as standalone. I am testing with an lj4050tn printer by using both postscript and PCL drivers (HP drivers). All the Driver download and Printer configuration (duplex,trays...) from a Win2000Pro works no problem. After the driver has been downloaded and the printer properties has configured (with
