NUT Augeas Lens definitions - help wanted
Cheers all,
With PR https://github.com/networkupstools/nut/pull/2425 I've paid some
attention to the tools we have to help external consumers edit NUT
configuration files. These go back to issues like
https://github.com/networkupstools/nut/issue/2294 (originally posted for
"nutconf" improvement, and now with some more TODO's linked to it) and

Three (Possibly Connected) Samba Issues
Hello,
I am having a number of issues with a SAMBA based network. The
configuration file is appended to the end of this message. The network
has the following configuration:
1 Server: Fedora Core Linux 5, with fully up-to-date packages. The
server is one P4 2.26 GHz with one 40GB ext3 EIDE drive configured as
the boot volume. The data is stored on two 40 GB mirrored EIDE drives,

Bandwidth limited when shorewall is enabled
Hi,
I''ve been having a really strange thing happen. I can''t remember when it
happened, or if it coincided with a shorewall update, but if I have shorewall
"running", my 100mbps connection is limited to about 1-6mbps per connection.
This is with TC/Shaping/QoS disabled or enabled.
I have no idea if its shorewall doing something funky or ipables or what, but
if I

ksoftirqd_CPU0 extreme CPU usage
Hi all,
I dont know if this problem is related to shorewall, but as here we
have a lot of firewall experts ... :)
We are using a Leaf box (1GHz 256MB RAM) for a network with normal
traffic of about 6Mbps but peaks of up to 40Mbps. The chipset of the
ethernets is a Realtek.
We are experiencing some high latency high CPU usage issues (the CPU
is at 90%) and we discovered the process

File Descriptors
I installed Squid on CentOS 4.4 and currently it seems to run fine
even under the relatively heavy load of 6mbps and hundreds of users.
I was told I should increase the file descriptor limit which I beleive
is 1024 now. Any easy way to do that?

Winbind traffic not encrypted
A problem here getting winbind traffic to be encrypted using Kerberos.
I have set up a test environment with a pair of servers (actually lxc
containers):
- samba server (ubuntu 16.04, stock samba 4.3.11)
- client machine (ubuntu 16.04) joined with "net ads join" and winbind
The client machine has the following in /etc/samba/smb.conf:
-------
[global]
    #netbios name = client-ad

I/O descriptor ring size bottleneck?
Hi everyone,
I''m doing some networking experiments over high BDP topologies. Right
now the configuration is quite simple -- two Xen boxes connected via a
dummynet router. The dummynet router is set to limit bandwidth to
500Mbps and simulate an RTT of 80ms.
I''m using the following sysctl values:
net.ipv4.tcp_rmem = 4096        87380   4194304
net.ipv4.tcp_wmem = 4096

E1 cards
We are not having any luck with the E100p card here in Australia, it
will work with a crossover cable to another device but will not talk to
our Telco Telstra who probably have a weird implementation of an E1.
Any suggestions on a replacement?
