I am trying to mount an ftp connection as a local file system using
fuse and curlftpfs. I can connect to the remote system (an HP3000
running MPEiX 7.5) and the directory seems to mount but I cannot use
it. What I get is an Input/output error:

Trouble connecting to Samba shares set up under FC6
Hi list,
Having a problem connecting to a Samba server under Fedora Core 6. Every
time I try to connect, even from localhost, I get the message
NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME.
Samba config was done in the Redhat samba configuration tool (gnome).
I can connect with smbclient -L illuminatus -U <username> and get a list of
the shares. However when I try to connect with smbclient -U

Construction to access Windows Network and other networks.
Hello,
Hello all,
I've been working on a construction to make access to networkresources easier,
using autofs.
The construction permits user access to networkresources like a Samba/Windows
server with cifs, FTP servers using curlftpfs and SSH using sshfs (fuse), in
one directory created with autofs. I'm sure more services like nfs and ipx are
possible, but I did not test that. (in

does it make sense to run rsync over ftp (curlftpfs)?
Hi,
It seems to work but very slowly. I guess it's because rsync has to read the
complete file content
on the remote host, so does it make any sense at all to do it over FTP?

Namespaces and subscriptions
I've got a problem with subscriptions in 1.0-stable when migrating from
UW-IMAP.
I've modified the SUBSCRIPTION_FILE_NAME entries as suggested in the
Wiki http://wiki.dovecot.org/Migration and included the "~/mail/" etc.
hidden namespaces.
The .mailboxlist files contain entries like "~/mail/somefolder" and the
clients have "~/mail/" set as a prefix.

I'm sorry to hijack a thread to do this, but I actually had to reply to
someone in order to show you the symptom.
Before describing the symptom, let me give you the situation... I'm

Network initialization failed
Hi,
I successfully installed wine 1.2.3 on Debian squeeze amd64.
Preliminary tests are fine.
I use a ~/.wine/dosdevices/unc/myserver/myfolder linked to a smbmout in /home/myfolder to emulate a windows network share.
I can launch "wine notepad '\\myserver\myfolder\test.txt' ", edit it and save the changes; so the permission seems right.
I want to use an old app who needs to

rysnc failure
Hello,
I have been using rsync to sync data from 1 ftp server to a backup ftp
server. Both servers are Solaris 10 X86, and the file systems being synced
are a few hundred zfs user data file-systems under the parent/root ftp
area. I noticed an unexpected problem in the sync log files, one of the
user data directories had bumped up against it's quota, and failed to write
the data. That is

Version 1.0.13 - Maildir directory names
I am running Maildir (obtained via [mac|darwin] ports) on my Powerbook Pro
to operate as local mail storage. My mail is stored in the Maildir format.
Is it possible to set Maildir not to put a dot in front of the directory
names? (e.g., ~/Maildir/somefolder instead of ~/Maildir/.somefolder). OS
X's spotlight indexing/search service will not index "hidden" directories

ActionMailer getaddrinfo: Name or service not known..
When I deploy my rails 2.2.2 app to bluehost, I''m having trouble with
the ActionMailer SMTP settings.
When I attempt to send emails through Rails/SMTP, I get the following

google says that this means there''s an error negotiating with the mail
server.
Here are the settings I''m using for SMTP delivery:

newbie: problem with IMAPS + mutt + Thunderbird
Hi,
I'm a Dovecot newbie and have some problems with the configuration/the
resulting interoperability. My setup looks like this:
I receive my mail using qmail-ldap and sort it with a number of means
into
~/Mailbox/ (= INBOX) and
~/Mail/folder/ for various values of 'folder' (generally one folder
per mailing list).
The sorting is done via .qmail-* files, LDAP entries, and

Bad size transfers
Hi,
I've been using rsync for several years by now, but it's the first time
I have a problem with file transfers.
The scenario is quite complex, I have an inotify script that syncs a
hole folder when new files arrive to another server that has an curlftp
mount of another server.
Most of the times, sync happens right, but in other opportunities, I see
by the logs that files are partially

wide links and privileges
Yes, mount bind is an option also.
But in my case i have script running which autocreated symlinks to file/folders spread over multiple servers.
And the symlinks are created in the user homedir, and general data folders.
Which makes a mount bind much more resource full.
In my case i need about 180 mount binds.. :-/ which remounts to different files/folders very day.

Automatic sysvol replication through detection of filesystem events
I thought this can be useful to someone, so here it goes.
I am using automatic SysVol replication with the help of "watcher", a
recursive incron.

"Watcher is a daemon that watches specified files/folders for changes
and fires commands in response to those changes. It is similar to
incron, however, configuration uses a simpler to read ini
