Limit dirs/filenames to old 8.3 DOS convention
Hello all, after endless searching for days you might be able to help. In short: Is there a way to get Samba accept only 8.3 filenames and directory names on a share? The problem: From a windows client a user should be able to save files on a destination (samba share) which aren't longer than the old 8.3 dos convention. This is a requirement for a system behind it, which can only deal

WinXP console
I''m using RHEL 5. One of the virtual machines I have running is a WinXP install. I start this up after I login to X. If I log out of X, the virtual WinXP is still running (that''s fine with me). However when I log back into X and start the Virtual Machine Manager, I am unable to open the machine. It normally says "Virtual Machine Console is unavailable." There does

zfs -H output ??"s
Hi, I have a customer that would like to open a RFE on the following issue... Describe the problem: It would be nice if zfs -H didn''t print any output to STDERR (or if there was some way to tell it not to). Given it''s for scripting mode, I''m going to be checking the return code anyway and doing something based on the return code not the string sent to STDERR.

Illegal characters in filename?
I have a server that uses both NFS and Samba. I noticed on a Windows client that some directories and files were in the 8.3 format, and clicking on them resulted in an "Access denied." message. I've since upgraded to 3.5.0 - now the "Access denied." message is gone and I can enter and open files, but all of the names are shown in the 8.3 format and are almost unreadable. I

Alternate Open Source Crypto Solution in OpenSSH
Hello OpenSSH Developers and Community, wolfSSL (formerly known as CyaSSL) is a dual licensed SSL/TLS implementation specializing in the embedded space. As we have grown we are being used in larger systems due to our reduced resource consumption on a per-session basis. Many have found that their servers are able to service more connections by replacing OpenSSL with wolfSSL. Our engineers have

Debian repositories only for amd64
Hi, Is there any particular reason why the Debian repositories (at http://download.gluster.org/pub/gluster/glusterfs/LATEST/Debian/ ) only have packages for amd64? I don't mean to pressure for more convenience; I'm just wondering if there's any reason to avoid using it on i386.

Gluster 3.12 and nfs-ganesha
Thanks Kaleb, indeed, starting ganesha without HA works, but it's certainly not desirable, and everything is back to manual operations like in the old days. Do you have any time estimate for storhaug to be ready? Maybe it's worth to mention this in the documentation of 3.12 as well, otherwise other people will have the same problems. Cheers, ??? net groupmap modify ntgroup="Domain Admins" ... succeeds but fails
After reading through the documentation, I realized that as a part of the migration process from Samba-2.2.X to Samba-3.0.0 I needed to convert everyone in my smbadmin group (previously domain admin group = @smbadmin) to the "Domain Admins" group w/rid=512. So, I issued the following command: [root@localhost profile]# net groupmap modify ntgroup="Domain Admins"

Using an extension to send a linux command
I am a newbie to asterisk and am trying to send a linux command using extensions in asterisk, for example when I dial 1111 I want to run the linux command "/usr/local/bin/br -c -n 1" (obviously without the quotes). If I SSH into my asterisk box and enter that command, it works, however I can't seem to get it to work from asterisk. I am running Asterisk@home2.2 (I know, I am a

New version of UFO - is there a new HOWTO?
I just installed glusterfs-swift 3.3.1 on a couple of Fedora 18 servers. This is based on swift 1.7.4 and has keystone in the config. I had experimented with the one based on swift 1.4.8 and tempauth and had some problems with it. The HOWTO I can find is still for the old one. Is there an updated one? I would also need to find some instructions on setting up keystone from scratch for

glusterd vs. glusterfsd
I'm running version 3.3.0 on Fedora16-x86_64. The official(?) RPMs ship two init scripts, glusterd and glusterfsd. I've googled a bit, and I can't figure out what the purpose is for each of them. I know that I need one of them, but I can't tell which for sure. There's no man page for either, and running them with --help returns the same exact output. Do they have separate
